The rating system in Kentucky is ridiculous. You can't go by who is the best officials by who goes to the state tourney. If you have connections you get to go and if you don't deal in the politics you don't. Coaches have 80% of the vote and they have never officiated before in their lives. They don't know if officials are in the right position or know the rules, they just know if they win or lose and who was calling when they lost and put those officials at the bottom for the most part. There are some coaches that do an honest job at this rating system, but to give a coach 80% is just crazy, why not give them the 20% and give someone who goes out and watches and evaluates these officials every night the 80% of the ratings. Seems like that would be the most logical thing to do, no wait the most logical way would be to not give the coaches any say at all who is the best official. That would take care of a lot of the "favors" done in all these regions for votes. We have assigning secrateries and that is who should be rating the officials, that is there job and that is what they are paid for. Coaches are paid to coach and yell at officials, not rate them. That is why the best don't end up at the state tourney, most of the time.

This is true, but if you have 2 weak teams in the District, that gives those 2 weak teams a chance to make the region. Even though they probably won't win a game in the region, it makes their year to just get there.

Would be smart on their part to leave him out til at least saturday, they have a cake walk to the finals anyways, they got a good draw in the All A.

Have been in the 15th several times and have seen this on many occasions. This is why we are scared to have them come over for the regional tourney this year in the 14th. Whoever they want to win usually does.

Hatcher wlll slow this game way down I'm sure. Only way PCC has a chance. If the game is in the 40's Perry wins, if it gets any higher, Hazard by 8+. Should definitely be a good one as usual when these two teams get togehter.

Yes losing the best player on the team will hurt them, but I'm sure when they make the finals next weekend, Cox will be right there playing with them trying to beat Hazard. Cox is a player and I'm sure is not about to sit out an important game like this. He is better on one leg than most of the region is full strength.

Owsley's guards like to drive to the basket but they can't seem to understand that when one drives, someone has to take the roll of being back on defense. It also has been said that the team has a little anemosity at the guard position. Doesn't look like they are playing as a team to well. Someone needs to step up and take over the leader of the team and start leading them. They have some talent, they just need to get it all going in the same direction. Coach Noble is doing a great job with them, just need a little something to get them all on the same page and working as one unit.

Denny and Asst Kevin Campbell did the coaching, and they went 3-0, with 2 district wins. Done a nice job and the kids seemed to play better running up and down the floor for them as well. They also scored a whole lot more points with them calling the plays.

Wow, I knew Breathitt was having problems, but I thought Jackson City was a better team than this. They have some good scorers and they must not of shot the ball that well last night. With the problems Breathitt is having and after this game, you have to say Wolfe is the best team in the 55th District right now. Wolfe plays Breathitt Friday night barring any snow storms, should be a good one in Campton.

Glad to see at least one person thinks he is a good guy. But he has been tossed out of 2 games for his actions(probably should of been more), refused to leave and got the game called with 3:28 to play, suspended 2 games, got an extra game suspension for being in the gym for one that he wasn't supposed to be at, and then not shaking hands with a coach after a hard fought game and coming out on the losing end tops off a good list of actions since he has been in Perry County. I probably would't call him classless, but it's not a good thing for a new coach at Perry Central to be doing. Not a good example for the team and for the school for that matter.

Don't think Lee is struggling, they are playing as well as they can with their young team. They are shooting it well, Knott is just one of the better teams in the region and gave Lee some problems. Knott is physical and plays defense on people, they also have one of the best players in the region, Stamper.

Hazard by about 18 I think.

Good win for the Cougars last night by 1 in Letcher County.

I guess I would of felt pretty bad too to give up the lead with 5 seconds to go with a foul to give and let them come the length of the court and shoot a wide open 3 without fouling them. Not a very good coaching strategy not to use the foul to give to your advantage.

Buckhorn in a route. Breathitt is going thru to many problems right now.

If Cordia can win this one, it will pretty much lock Letcher in at the #4 spot in the district for a crash course with JBS in the semi's and not making the Regional tourney again this year. This will need to be a big win for Letcher for them to have a shot at getting in the region. Also, if Cordia can win this one, the Cordia/Knott game saturday will really not mean anything except for the big in county rivalry that it always does. Then they will play again as the #2 and #3 teams in the district tourney.

This game was a good one at Cordia with Cordia coming out on top. Was very exciting game and should be much of the same tonight in Letcher County. Should be another high scoring game. I will pick Cordia by 3.

Woo Hooo...only took me 6 weeks, but I missed the 2 wks during Christmas...

I thought they were playing pretty well last week, when they played South Laurel without Hollan, then they went to the WYMT and got embarassed by Pikeville. Don't know what happened in that one. The wheels just started to fall off the wagon, and now it seems like they barely have a wagon left. Things have just snowballed the last week or so for them. Hopefully they can get everyone together and have a little sit down and see if they can salvage what is left of a season. They have the talent to compete in the 14th region if they can put things back together and work together as a team.

1. JBS, still show they are top team by winning Wymt tourney over Hazard. 2. Hazard, great showing in wymt tourney, played JBS good game. 3. Cordia, still rolling, got big game with Letcher tonight at Letcher. 4. Knott, playing well, big game with Cordia on Saturday. 5. Perry, even with the loss of Back, still playing well and won 3 in a row before losing to Jackson County. 6. Powell, playing well still, big win over Lee in overtime 7. Letcher, starting to put it all together and moving up fast, finishing games. 8. Estill, big loss hurt against Letcher, but I think they are still pretty good. 9. Lee, loss to Powell in overtime, but still shoots te 3 well. 10. Breathitt, having all sorts of problem, big game with Buckhorn tonight. 11. Buckhorn, played well against Wolfe, and needs a big win against Breathitt 12. Jackson City, has some good players, but not getting the big wins like capable of. 13. Wolfe, still playing well, just need another year to grow, could still make the region though. 14. Owsley, got some talent, but need to put it all together for 4 quarters. 15. Leslie, lost a lot of talent the last couple years, just rebuilding for the future. 16. Jenkins, very frustrating season for Puckett. 17. Riverside.

I guess they needed to make 5-5 and they wouldn't of been in overtime and would of won the tourney.

You crack me up. Everyone has been talking about Powell getting homer whistles, when a team goes to overtime, do you really think the officials are trying to take a game from someone. I mean give me a break, if an official was going to take it, don't you think it would be a no doubter, surely they would not let a team take someone to overtime if they were trying to win it for them. That is just ridiculous. Just like the Pulaski game everyone complained about. It also went to overtime, if Pulaski would of made one more free throw or one more layup they missed they would of won the thing, but yet they complained about the officials. If I have a chance to win a game and it goes to over time, I'm surely not going to blame the officials for it. Check the turnovers, missed easy shots, etc. Sure you could of found a way to have one more point. You people need to come up with another reason why you are losing games at Powell county, because the same refs that call there are the same ones that call all over the 14th region. It's not like they get them out of the stands or something, and it's not the same ones every night either.
