GO15AROD Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Sixth straight win for the Pirates and Coach Lively.
The Professor Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Owsley County was within 1 point early in the 3rd quarter, but turnovers and poor shooting, particularly from behind the arc, resulted in another loss.
big red fan Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Corey Brewer had a monster game as did Justin Mays. Both had 12 rebounds. Kinser and Banks had a good game as well. The Pirates are really playing well as a team.
The Professor Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Another thing that hurt the Owls was Powell had a LOT of fast break layups, especially in the first half. Owsley wasn't getting back on defense and Powell made them pay for it.
Master of the Hardwood Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Owsley's guards like to drive to the basket but they can't seem to understand that when one drives, someone has to take the roll of being back on defense. It also has been said that the team has a little anemosity at the guard position. Doesn't look like they are playing as a team to well. Someone needs to step up and take over the leader of the team and start leading them. They have some talent, they just need to get it all going in the same direction. Coach Noble is doing a great job with them, just need a little something to get them all on the same page and working as one unit.

3 Point Play Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 How many seniors does Owsley have? Is this considered a rebuilding year for them?
The Professor Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 How many seniors does Owsley have? Is this considered a rebuilding year for them? Owsley has seven seniors on the team: Adam McIntosh, Matt Wright, Jeremy Brewer, Jeremy Pierson, Josh Reed, Tyler Thompson, and Travis Marshall. They will return mostly juniors next year. Sophomores Devan Evans, and Timmy Murrell have seen quite a bit of playing time this year. Murrell has a twin brother, Travis, who joined the team after the season started. Tyler Williams, another sophomore, has seen some PT. And Nick Noble, a sophomore transfer from Breathitt, who has not played this year due to the transfer, will probably be the point next season. Also juniors Zack Taylor, Kyle Bobrowski, and Jordan Hardy are back. And Owsley has a very good group of middle schoolers on the way up, particularly the 7th graders. The future looks very good right now imo.

The jv team has been playing great ball here lately and if this carries over next season the Owls could be pretty good. If coach Noble sticks around he will turn this team around.
