Should 14th Region officials call 13th region tourney?

Featured Replies

This has been a topic on many boards already and at a lot of the games I have been around. This usually isn't a problem, but with the 14th and 13th playing the first round in the state tourney, this could not be a good situation to put some of those officials in. Not saying that any would do anything unprofessional, but they will be the ones pretty much deciding who the 14th will play in the state tourney. Just thought this would make for a good discussion with all the gambling that goes on for picking winners of regions and things like that.

I would have to disagree with you here, the players on the teams that make it to the tourney should be the ones to decide who the 14th plays not the officals.

13th region is trading with the 15th not the 14th. The 14th is staying in region because no one would switch with them.

Are you sure? I hope you are, that would be good

Yes I'm sure.:jump:

Where did you hear this news? It's not correct, according to my sources, and they're pretty reliable.

Here's the assigments:

The 14th region will be calling the 13th region.

The 13th region will be calling the 15th region.

The 15th region will be calling the 14th region.

Thank God the BBA does the 10th and 11th Regular Season and the Tournament. I would think it would be hard on the kids to get used to one style of officiating during the regular season and then have to adjust when the tournament rolls around.

From an official calling in the region and Mr. Canady. The original plan was for a three way switch but like I said no one wanted the 14th. Next year there will be a 5 way switch with the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th...thats the plan for now. :flame:

Great---IMO we should keep our own officials--trading get's you just what some said earlier---and yes it "should" be up to the KIDS--but "NO" it is not always that way--unfortunately. Been there--experienced it!!

I talked to a 14th region official who says they'll be calling in the 13th at Knox Central this year, or that's what they've been told by the 14th region assigning secretary. Maybe something's changed in the last few days, but he hadn't heard about it.

BTW, more than likely you're getting the 13th and 14th confused. It's usually the 13th region that has trouble getting anyone to swap assignments with them. That's why they had to call their own region last year.

I think some plans were changed just this weekend.

10-4.

My earlier info was correct. I made a phone call this morning to make sure. I suppose there's been a last minute change and the news hasn't got around to everyone yet. Maybe we'll find out something else today.

The 14th will still call the 13th and they will be happy to have them, the 13th will go to the 15th and hate every minute of it, the 15th will unfortunately go to the 14th. This is set in stone and will not be changed no matter what you have heard. It's not that easy to change once it's agreed upon by the KHSAA.
