  1. High School games need a shot clock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The primary reason is that it rewards good defense. There is not a team that can play good solid defense for 1:00. If you have a shot clock there is more pressure on the coaches to teach teams quick hitters and understanding of the game. It's simply a much better game with a shot clock. I've coached under both circumstances and the shot clock adds to the game.
  2. Stewart was not very impressive. They have an MVP for each game. He didn't win it and I doubt that he was even considered. He had a hard time finishing inside and didn't show any outside game.
  3. I agree that you should seed and the KHSAA should mandate this to all member schools. However, to make it fair for the most important people in this equation, the athletes; we should have a class system that schools of like sizes can compete. Of course this will never happen because of the almighty dollar that comes in with the sacred boys state tournament. Heaven forbid we would put the student athlete first in making decisions.
  4. It depends if you're talking about NCAA or NAIA. NAIA can approach and talk to players any time. The NCAA coaches may only speak to a player to say something like, good job, hello, great game etc. The conversation can not be extended. The NCAA calls this a bump. The coach may bump into a recruit. The NCAA allows the coaches to call a recruit once a week. The player may call the coaches any time. Most NCAA teams have an 800 number they give to recruits to call them.
  5. Anyone who thinks that Stepp can't play D-I doesn't have a clue. His best attribute is his understanding of the game and he has a game to go along with it. Just because UK isn't all over him doesn't mean he can't play D-I.
  6. I've seen Plasonka and was pretty impressed. When he got in foul trouble was when Garrard didn't play well.
  7. From my understanding is Tyler Jones has quit the team at Georgtown.
  8. The fault should be with the KHSAA for not having enough guts to be for kids. If they really believed in the best interest of high school students they would have classes. I know it would mess with the religious ceremony in March at Rupp Arena, but young people should be the major focus. A class system is the only fair way.
  9. Do you really think that Madison Central can play that style and win? Not much offense from MCHS other than throw it up an try to go get it.
  10. Take a look at the true all "A" schools who are well coached. The only way they can compete is to do the fundamentals correctly every time.
  11. Was Lloyd that bad or St. Henry that good?
  12. Good guard play will always make you competitive and give you an opportunity to win, from the NBA on down. Congrats to Scott!!!
  13. I don't know South's schedule. When will they be challenged and how good are they?
  14. Put the shot clock in high school as soon as possible. It definitely rewards the defense and coaches are smart enough to adapt. You run an early offense, into a number of different types of quick hitters and a couple of set plays for when the shot clock is winding down. I've had an opportunity to coach under both situations and with the clock is much better from a players and coaches stand point.
  15. Anyone know where Clinton Co. has scrimmages?
  16. If you're talking all types of colleges. Madison Central had 7 players play college basketball from '99 to '05 with 2 in DI. Olivia Terry at Toledo and Tiffany Green at College of Charleston.
  17. How about Hazard's gym? Fantastic feel when you're on the floor. Years ago we played a game there and it had one toilet in the visiting lockerrom, right in the middle with no walls around it. Talk about a home court advantage.
  18. If not for proximity it would make for a fun league.
  19. Model is in Richmond and part of EKU. Can you imagine trying to compete in the 11th region.
  20. Add Model Lab School to the list of schools with elementary, middle and high schools in one building. Enrollment 210 grades 9 - 12.
  21. Stepp from JBS is the best all-around guard I've seen in years. Understanding of the game with time, possession, & score and what to do because of those situations is phenominal for high schooler.
  22. I have to agree with 53's post. Rick was a super official. Always had the same even keel and was extremely fair. His best attribute was his ability to talk to coaches as play was going on and still stay focused. I hope he wins the judge exec. if that's what he wants.
