Scott Co. will win going away. If they can dismantle Lex. Cath. the way they did TC will be no problem. -

The NCAA rules say that a coach may "bump" into a player after a game or practice during this time. A bump is usually defined as, hello nice game etc. It can't be a long conversation. -

Topic has gotten away....................How much of an advantage was it for MC to play the district (for what it was worth) in the same place as the regional? Alumni Coliseum is tough place to shoot. -

You have to have the facilities. I agree that EKU could fund it more but they'll never make it big enough to compete with numbers. The school according to EKU is set up to teach future teachers how to teach not to have athletic teams. Most EKU personnel would like to see Model not exist any more because the funds used for it could be used for the University. -

Recruiting definitely would help the program at Model, but the administration for years there have frounded upon it. That gets back to the class system. If there was a class system in place the smalls wouldn't have to recruit and the bigs wouldn't get mad when they did. The way the system is set up the smalls must recruit to compete against the odds. This is how Lex Cath got there start years ago. They were a doomat in Lexington until Danny Haney and the administration he worked for (Father Buether) decided that sports would help build the school. So, they recruited the best players they could get (boys and girls). The results are obvious. They did this all under the legal rules of the KHSAA. Seeding is fair but a class system is even fairer. The KHSAA should become more innovative and quit relyng on the boys state tournament to pay all of the bills. -

The 44th district is simply an example of why there should be a class system in KY. If you want to talk about fair that is the only fair way. -
How about Franfort over Franklin Co.?

A class system for hoops?

The real question is: Are we in this for the fans and money or for the kids who participate? Kids should come first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
"Creative" Coaching Tactics

In scenario # 1 I believe that in most circles that would be called cheating. If I was officiating I not only would have let play continue but issued a technical to the bench. -
A class system for hoops?
hoopsrbest replied to hoopsrbest's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I've coached on both ends of the spectrum. The haves (large school) and the have nots (small school). IMO there should be seeding in every district and a class system for all. I know all about the KHSAA and the money they receive from the boys state tournament. It's too bad that money has to adhere young athletes from even having a dream of cutting down the nets. I believe that a class system would eliminate recruiting. The big schools have, the small schools have to recruit to compete with the big boys. If the small school does recruit then the bigs get mad. There will never be such a thing as a small school winning it all in my lifetime that has not recruited, period. -

There should definitely be some questions posed to the administration at MC about the AIDS poster. -

The worst thing that happened in the game was in the stands. Madison Central student body had a sign that read "RAINING 11th REGION CHAMPS" And people wonder about our education system. -
With all of talk about seeding in the 44th and fairness of play to all young men and women in this state playing hoops, what's everyones feelings on the class system (that definitely needs to be implemented) for Kentucky high school basketball?

To many free throws is obviously a problem, but when it's that lopsided there has to be a problem. MC takes it to the rack strong but to go to the line that many times someone was looking for something. -
Anyone know if Flora played for Berea? He wears # 32.

Here we go again - 44th District draw.
hoopsrbest replied to hoopsrbest's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree that isn't fair but the first time MS played Model this year it was a 10 to 12 point game throughout. I wouldn't doubt that MS will try to run one up on Model, if they can, because they will not budge in their stance about seeding............ I'd probably do the same. -

44th district draw was today. Same thing that has happened 8 out of the last 11 years. Berea plays Model and Madison Central plays Madison Southern. One team that hasn't been able to compete with a lot of teams goes to the region. Is this fair?
