This is for Southern Sports Fan, at least Somerset has made it out of District to go to the Region the past two years.......... where was McCreary Central ???? When Somerset played the past two games against Cumberland and Rockcastle which were two really well played and physical games and they won, there were hardly any comments positive or negative on here, but let them lose a game and everyone wants to blame the coach or the players. They had a bad night and Pulaski had a good night, as everyone knows; that happens. Good Luck next week to all three of the local teams!

Once again, I'm not saying I think Somerset got the shaft.. This game was called fairly for both sides! All i'm implying is that a few of the kids on MC's team play very dirty, and at times it looked as though they went looking for ways to make cheap shots, they're is a huge difference between being physical and playing dirty.. And for the most part, got away with it because it was not noticed by the officials.. I know any parent of an opposing team would say this, but I've seen the tape of the game as well, and there is no need for that kind of play.. All that being said, that did not effect the outcome of the game, the Raiders played very well and deserved to win..

Its the type of fouls being called, the shooting fouls and reach in fouls and that such were called fine, and I think the refs were being completely fair in this game dont get me wrong. I just think they didnt see some of what was going on.. I sat there and watched #22 dileberatly try an kick Bourne an force him to trip whenever Bourne was running down the floor and #22 was on the ground.. #22, #10, or #32 would just lower there shoulder an run over anyone setting a screen on them..Cheap shots would be a good term for how a few of them play, getting away with it cause its goes un-noticed.. Not to mention the fact that the Somerset Bench had to deal with fans sitting right behind them yelling in there ear and saying things inappropriate to put on here.. I'm not taking anything away from McCreary's team though.. They are well coached, very good,(shot the lights out) played extremely well last night and have a really good shot at winning the region..

Never said that was the reason for a loss, just didn't take too kindly to anyone saying it was called fair. I was there, had McCreary been called for the type of fouls the Jumpers were called for, several players would have fouled out for MC and the foul calls would not have been so even. The Jumpers still are having some problems with turnovers and rebounds and that cost them the game but they looked much better last night. That's a positive. KUDO's to Southern Sports Fan for his devotion to his team.

I think this was a very fair called game with both teams getting controversial calls. Somerset fought back but could never get any closer than about 6 or 7 points. Were you at the same game I was? Number 10 and 32 should have fouled out during the first half, but wait,they didn't foul out at all....#10 getting a technical in the last quarter was just a little too late. Bourne rarely gets knocked down but during this game he was on the floor more than all of the other games together this season. Watts can shot the ball and play basketball, the other players should be on the football team(does MC have a football team). This was one of the roughest and dirtiest played games the Jumpers have had all season, which you can expect sometimes when you travel but to be insulting and say it was a fair called game??? I think we were all thankful that no one got hurt and that the Jumpers played well. :thumb:

I do agree that getting the Ball to Tyler Bourne down low is by far the best option for the Jumpers to be successful and for the most part they have done pretty well at that. But If you are referring to Price as being a selfish player or anything of that sort then you dont watch many of Somersets games.. Having to play the point this year has limited his scoring oppurtunities greatly, and I do believe he drove the lane and kicked it out to an open man several times tonight for a three.. yes he shot several times tonight but they werent bad shots, they were going in werent they? The game before, against Lincoln County, he only took 5 or 6 shots for the entire game.. Now, the Jumpers arent in that bad of shape.. There last 3 losses have been to the regions top 3 teams, and 2 of them on the road.. They still have a shot at this thing..

I really dont see how the 12 point spread is a fair representation of the closeness of the two teams whenever that was the largest lead of the night and the score was with in 5 points up untill the 4th quarter.. Yes, you could say Lincoln controlled the 4th quarter, but when they made there free throws at the end is what made it a 12 point game..

Actually it was closer than indicated.. Somerset led at half, an was down 5 at the end of the third.. Somerset fouled and LC made 10 straight free throws within the last minute and a half to make it a 12 point game..

Somerset returns almost their entire lineup from last year. Price, Wallen, Cole, Fitzpatrick, Hall, Hughes just to name a few and are looking for a repeat:dancingpa

It's actually Aaron Dockery, (Caleb is his little brother) but he had a great game! The Dixon boy broke his arm/elbow last weekend at their Powell game. Good win for the Jumpers:dancingpa

John Cole decided months ago he would not be playing basketball this year. He will concentrate on football future. I wish everyone else would concentrate on the players that are on the roster for Somerset and have been working and practicing to better their team for months and give them the respect they deserve. The Jumpers looked good last night and will only improve as the season continues.

Maybe Anger Management classes might be in order for the McCreary Central team;)

Anyone who watched the Jumpers last year know that playing team ball was a big problem and a major reason for the losing season. Hopefully that has been resolved and should not be an issue this year. :banana:

There could be some unhappy Jumper fans if they drive for three hours and get there to find no parking or no seat. Are you serious when you say, arrive by five to get parking and a seat?

I was told today that the field we are supposed to play on is not completed yet, does anyone know if that is true? Was told it is a new field but no seating or press box and the infield isn't finished. We Jumpers bring a crowd with us to support our team.:thumb:

That was one of the lessons I was referring to, when you have players who don't play team ball, it can be a problem(and when the coaching allows it to continue, another problem). It cost them several games this year. But we learn from our mistakes and grow from them.

It's a problem, for sure. It's all been very disappointing, but maybe there was a lesson to be learned somewhere in all of it. (although i haven't quite figured it out yet):confused:

Whoever named the players of the year, I have to ask "have you been to a Somerset (basketball) game this season"?

I overhead several people during/after the game say those officials should be reported. It made me curious as to who enforces or regulates officials after having watched the calls that were made that night during the game. They were most certainly fans of Clinton County, i noticed when they came out on floor before game they carried on several converstaions with the players from Clinton county, but fans or not they still had a job to do and that was to call the game fairly and be consistent for both sides. I still say it's a shame that these two teams couldn't have played each other fairly, I think it would have been a great game and it might still have had the same outcome, but we will never know. :confused:
