  1. i have to agree with above posts, i have sit through a lot of games over all the years but this was by far the worst officiated game i have ever had to sit thru. It was obvious who the refs were for that night, it was homecoming for Clinton and they wanted a win at home! It looked like Clinton had a good team-was a shame it couldn't have been a better game for everyone, if Somerset had been allowed to play their game. I would be interested to know if those 2 were actually official high school certified refs.
  2. I hope you all are right, but after the year we have had so far, let's not be too sure of anything right now. The Jumpers just need to keep working hard every day, stay focused and play team ball. I'm so proud of every member of this team!!:thumb: GO JUMPERS!
  3. I would say it has been an embarassing WEEK for the Jumpers, they started out the season great playing together as a team in their first few games and hopefully they can get that back as they learn to once again play team ball. It has been a hard week with some questionable calls too which only makes a bad situation worse. They're working hard to get it together and i'm sure they will get their game back! :thumb:
  4. Over the summer Wayne looked very tough. I am surprised they lost a scrimmage to Cumberland. We will see how they fair against Pulaski and Lincoln coming up.
  5. Somerset National Bank is hosting w/FCA this weekend at Somerset. The schedule is Friday night: Somerset vs/ North Laurel 6:30 Conner vs/Buckhorn 8:00 Saturday's games: Clinton Co vs/Model 1:00 Breathitt vs/Garrad Co 2:45 Pulaski vs/Conner 4:30 SouthWestern vs/Rose Hill 6:15 Somerset vs/Dunbar 8:00 All of these games will be played at the BriarPatch.
  6. ?? not sure what you mean-but if this answers your question if you live in county and attend a city school, you have to have been grandfathered in by an older sibling that attended Somerset prior to new county school rule enforced by their administration that started in 1994/95 or you were put on a waiting list (only a certain amount of children living in county may attend city schools determined by county school contract), (or there are other legal ways to attend-by giving over parental rights to someone else(but i have no idea what went on w/court orders at Pulaski-) If you live in city limits than you may choose which school you want to attend. It's never really made any sense to me, you should be able to choose which school you want your child to attend. Anyhow.....getting back to original thread subject....the 12th region can and will compete with any other region. (from a former die hard maroon fan in my younger days to a present jumper fan) I like to cheer for all of our local school teams and wish them well!
  7. nothing fishy about it, the principal's son that transferred to Somerset moved and lived in the city limits; what is ironic though, the Perkins boys lived in city limits but choose to go to a county school??
  8. I know Somerset beat McCreary every time we scrimmaged them this summer, what was it? 3 times...... but in the summer you never have all of your players there. Who knows? So we will just have to wait and see. By the way, Burnside hasn't had a high school since consolidation happened in 1981 for you history buffs, in case you were trying to figure out who Burnside is. I do know its starting to get really old hearing the same person talk about their team and on and on. How many different threads you going to put on here anyway? The Season is just around the corner. Good luck to all the teams this year! Hope everyone has a great year with no injuries. Go Jumpers!
  9. I would like to see the Somerset Jumpers take the 12th this year! It should be a good year for them.
  10. I was only responding to the comment that referred to Somerset always plays their players no matter what(which was very insulting to everyone)....i didn't refer to Pulaski at all but since you did mention it....you may have heard about those boys all year, but you certainly didn't read about it in the newspaper all the time did you-wonder why? nor did you know at any time who their parents were or even extended family? did you?-wasn't in the paper, was it? Wonder why? Isn't it interesting why every chance they have, the newspaper loves to publish anything negative about Somerset High School? why? And the mother you talked about only asked the coach to control "one player", (she at no time insulted or was threatening the coach)who in the previous match up gave a concussion to an SHS player by body slamming this person (and the Pulaski coach at that time did nothing at all as did any other person in the Somerset gym); the mother you think should have been handcuffed out of gym said she would never sit by again and let something like that take place to any child. If the coach wouldn't do anything and the officials chose to look the other way-do we let our children play football without protective equipment while playing basketball?? I am amazed you could compare this or would even mention it; of course that took care of itself, didn't it...that player didn't play anymore games the rest of the year because of getting himself in trouble the next night,(didn't read about that in paper) and what's really sad about that whole situation is that this boy is a talented athlete. All of the negative comments and theories only hurt the kids(players of these sports-remember that when you're on here posting).
  11. Lived here my entire life, my children have always gone to this school and no I do know what I'm talking about, too bad you don't(although can't honestly say anything bout the football issue you refer to-don't have a child in that sport-can only speak for basketball, baseball & soccer) My children weren't involved in the much talked event at school. Give it a rest and find something else to dwell on.
  12. sometimes the truth hurts...
  13. I am very concerned at the hostility directed toward Somerset School, their athletes, coaches and administrators. The above threads have been very cruel and very unwarranted. If you would stop to think before you're so quick to pass judgement, you might realize that the reason two seniors might be allowed to play in games after school was out wasn't because they were two of the best players (how could you determine who the best players were anyway, on a team that is full of incredible talent) but because they have played on this team for the past four years and have earned the coach's respect for their accomplishments in those four years and not one bad decision or poor judgement. And in response to Cammando's comments, those were insulting to the athletes, coaches and parents. I know for a fact, that at least 85% of those athletes you are referring to have honor grades, attend school regularly and are accountable for their actions by not only their administrators but their parents. Not only would the coach not allow a player to play if those rules were broken but I would not allow my son to play and I am insulted when you say anything different. I hold my son accountable for his actions not only because i want him to excel in everything he tries in life but because I know he is always being watched by others and could be an influence on those. I can only summize by these negative unwarranted theories that it just comes down to jealousy because your team may have been beaten by Somerset in the past and it's just a little hard to admit maybe it was because Somerset was a better team. Try to use this negative energy for something positive in the future.
