1. Wayne County

The Cardinals leap to the top of the poll after reports of Cole being out at Somerset. The Cardinals, who slipped into the region tournament last season, have some talent in Wells, Gregory, and 6'7 Cody Decker.. Learning to play as a team, use the post, and rebound can put the Cards back into contention for a region title - an accomplishment they haven't had for some time.

 

2. McCreary Central

The experienced Raiders move into the second spot thanks to Somerset. McCreary Central, which is led by a handfull of seniors, will be talented, fast, and sharpshooting this season. Expect Watts, Phillips, Swiger to have guaranteed spots in the line-up and the other two spots filled by a variety of players - including 6'5 freshman Jacob Dixon.

 

3. Somerset

Without Cole, the BriarJumpers slip from #1 to #3. Somerset is led by a talented duo of players in Price and Bourne. The BriarJumpers slipped big-time last season with a poor record and failed to play team-ball throughout the year. A lot of pressure is being applied to Thacker to turn this team into winners, and if they fail again this year, there won't be many Thacker-Backers left.

 

4. Lincoln County

Lincoln County enters the poll at #5 following last seasons run to Rupp Arena. Keeton and Young will lead a young Patriots team this season. Team play is important for Lincoln. If they fail to play team ball, they'll fail to win.

 

5. Boyle County

For two consecutive years, Boyle County has entered the finals of the region tournament - and they're 1-and-1. The Rebels should be led by Williams, one of the most talented players in their district. Boyle should return to the region tournament this year and should be a toss-up with Lincoln for district champions.

 

6. E. Jessamine

7. W. Jessamine

8. Pulaski County

9. Mercer County

10. Danville

Anyone who watched the Jumpers last year know that playing team ball was a big problem and a major reason for the losing season. Hopefully that has been resolved and should not be an issue this year. :banana:

I would still put somerset #1. Bourne, Price & Wallen will provide the Sr. Leadership needed to carry the Briar Jumpers to a region title.

West Jessamine should be up there in the top 5. This summer West beat Wayne county by 15 and put up 87 on them and this was without West's starting SG.
