Somerset 54 West Jessamine 45

Recommended Posts

Ten wins in a row for Somerset. Tyler Bourne had a big shooting night and Somerset played excellent team defense in the second half. West had a two point lead at halftime and slowed the game down for the second half, but Somerset made the shots they needed while limiting West Jessamine's points with solid defense.

The solid defense was a 2-3 zone. What happen to excellent man to man defense?

Lot of good teams coming up in the All A State with UHA, Elliott County, June Buchanan, Hazard, Shelby Valley, and Paintsville. I don't hear the jumpers mentioned in that group. Somerset is always competitive in the tournament and it looks like they will be a factor again. Great season and win streak for the Jumpers.

10 cupcakes? West Jessamine is not a cupcake... West beat McCreary and they have been playing good basketball all year... The Jumpers won 3 district games including against Pulaski which if you've ever been around, is NEVER easy for either team no matter the talent level...The won the Queen City Classic, beating Louisville Southern a very athletic team that plays in a tough region...Then Grayson County who is no push over... I dont believe your giving Somerset enough credit!

What's your problem? Go spread your sunshine somewhere else:walk:

Fact of the matter is, he doesnt like to see Somerset Succeed.. And that 2-3 zone your talking about, Somerset played a 2-3 zone for maybe a fourth of the game, most the time it was man to man and they held west to 45 points so clearly they did do an "excellent" job didnt they, Banker?

What exactly is your reasoning for disliking Somerset? because you having something against the Jumpers is about the only point your making.. Do you even come to any of the games?

I have not seen the Jumpers this year and was wondering how the Cole kids was doing? I seen where his football talent has offered him the opportunity at a good education in the toughest football conference (SEC). Just wonder how he was doing on the hardwood?

Unfortunately (especially for a high school team) one way to tell that your team is successful is by the criticism shown by a few people. Somerset had about a .500 year last year with about the same or easier schedule. This year they have played 3 teams that are, or have been ranked in the top 20 statewide, win against Owensboro, losing by 7 to Dunbar, and losing by 19 to Corbin. The majority of their other games are within the 12th region which have to be played, whether the teams are good or bad. Nearly all the 12th region teams are competitive however. This years team has matured and is winning the close games, games they would have lost last year. They have the All 'A' tournament, Lincoln, McCreary, Boyle Co., the district and regional remaining, their schedule is definitely not too easy.

Quality win for the Jumpers for certain. West not playing thier best basketball as of late but are still a threat in the region. I look for both teams to be playing in the regional and both should be considered contenders. Nice job by the players and coaches in this one.

I think alot of people forget hard to come by wins in mid January- when Feb rolls around we will see who is playing better basketball and gets on that roll everyone tries to peak going into Districts. Good luck to both these teams - I think the 12th would be represented well if either were fortunate enough to win the region, along with a few others.
