Good luck to the Jumpers in the semi-state. The 12th Region hasn't sent a team to the state finals (either final four or final eight) since Somerset went in 1981. Its been a long time; hopefully the streak will break this year.

I'm sorry! Yes, they were runners-up. They beat Madison Central 10-7 in the semifinals, before being shut out by St. Xavier, 5-0, in the championship game. It was played at Fort Knox! My how the state baseball championships have grown!

What's more, the 12th Region has only had three schools in history make the state finals (Final 4 or 8).

By the way, congratulations to West Jessamine on a solid run. Most around this region (and the 11th for awhile, too) have been waiting on West to make a solid tournament run since Jody Hamilton took over and it finally happened this season.

Congrats to my former teammate, Coach Grundy. We both played for Coach Charlie Taylor (I graduated in 1988) he was a couple of years younger, and my son played for him (he was an assistant coach) this year in middle school. The middle school finished 19-3 and won their conference title. Phillip coaches a lot like Coach T (a KHSAA Hall of Famer with 1 State Title and 2 Runner-ups). The Jumpers should be very dangerous for the next several years--not bad for the 3rd smallest school in the 12th Region. Good luck in the sectionals!
