Final from Clinton County. I have heard that this way a very rough game as far as officiating goes? Can anyone elaborate?

Maybe Somerset was just tired after their game with McCreary...

 

Haha, only kidding. Clinton is a very good team. Clinton winning the game isn't a suprise at all.

 

Officiating? I haven't heard anything, but there always is something.. or so it seems.

I know Clinton is a decent team but who knows, hearsay is not always correct

It seems to be the norm anytime you go on the road outside of your own region you get it put too you.

Somerset did not have a chance in this game. I seldom talk about officials and usually tell my son when they loose that an officials call did not loose the game for them, that they should not be in a position so that one call could cause a loss. This game was the worse officiated game I have ever seen at any level of play. One official completely took Somerset out of their defense and also took away a large part of their offense, either he was biased or was incapable of calling a game. Clinton county played a fairly good game and their fans also acted in a proper manner, but I am sure Clinton's team and coach were also disappointed with a win decided in a large part by the officials.

Clinton Co. may have won the game with fair referees, but Somerset did not have an opportunity to win the way the game was called.

Yeah the refs were pretty bad...Coach Thacker got a T, there was an intentional foul called on a Somerset player when clearly it was not on purpose or in any way an intentional. A Somerset parent was thrown out... Heard a kid in the JV game also got a T for Somerset for not a real good reason... hate to blame it all on the refs... Somerset keeps making little mistakes that they will have to fix to be a contender for the region. And what can you expect on the road out of region usually?

It was obvious who the refs were for that night, it was homecoming for Clinton and they wanted a win at home! It looked like Clinton had a good team-was a shame it couldn't have been a better game for everyone, if Somerset had been allowed to play their game. I would be interested to know if those 2 were actually official high school certified refs.

Have to be certified, per KHSAA regulations.

In light of the thread following the McCreary/Somerset game I'm amazed at the restraint showed by SSF.

I am as well.. And yes Jumpermom, the officiating was terrible but, I wouldnt go as far to say that those refs were not certified..... Maybe just Clinton Co fans!

I overhead several people during/after the game say those officials should be reported. It made me curious as to who enforces or regulates officials after having watched the calls that were made that night during the game. They were most certainly fans of Clinton County, i noticed when they came out on floor before game they carried on several converstaions with the players from Clinton county, but fans or not they still had a job to do and that was to call the game fairly and be consistent for both sides. I still say it's a shame that these two teams couldn't have played each other fairly, I think it would have been a great game and it might still have had the same outcome, but we will never know. :confused:

I'm not going to take anything away from Somerset.

 

Clinton County is a good team and I think if the game was fairly officiated and Somerset played their ball, they could have hung around and won.

If a coach feels he has a case he can always send the tape to whomever could do something about it. I don't know if that would be the KHSAA or the regions officals director.
