Drawing for the 14th Regional Tournament will be Saturday, March 1st at 2:00 at the Powell County High School.

Courtney Jones of Powell County scored her 1000th point of her career last night in the 56th District championship game against Estill County. Senior point guard Jones is the second player to reach the 1000th point mark this season joining Kendra McFarland. Courtney also led her team to victory in the game and was named Best Defensive player and MVP of the 56th District Tournament. Congratulations Courtney!!:ylsuper::banana:

Powell played just good enough to win. Estill played an excellent game. Coach McKinley had his girls well prepared for the game. Courtney Jones led Powell with 15 points, Stevie Rogers had 14, and Ashley Lacy and Kendra McFarland had 11 each. Amber Minix had 18 points for Estill and Misti Minix had 10 points for the Lady Engineers. Courtney Jones of Powell County was named Best Defensive player and MVP of the 56th Tournament.

Estill has defeated Powell both times this season. It is hard to beat someone three in one season, but Estill should win by 9.

Sophomore center Kendra McFarland from the Powell County Lady Pirates scored her 1000th point recently. On February 11th against OBI, Kendra scored her 1000th point on an inside move with the left hand to join the Lady Pirate record books. Congrats, Kendra.

WSKV-FM 104.9 in Stanton will brodcast all of the 56th District Tournaments (Girls and Boys). Beginning on Monday, February 25th at 6:00 p.m. WSKV has broadcast all 56th District Tournaments for at least the last ten years. Also, WSKV will broadcast the 14th Region Girls Tournament from Powell County beginning March 3rd.

Yes, I beleive that it forces the players to come together as a team. It will also bring out leadership roles in players that were not in those roles before.

Predictions? Powell won both games between the two this year. Powell at home by 15.

JBS has played a very weak schedule this year. Hazard is the best team that they have played.

Estill County is a much better team now than what they were early in the season. Brandenburg is back from injury and the young players now have alot of experience. The Owsley seniors will have to step up and take charge.
