Just to throw in a little tid-bit of historical evidence as to why I think this game WILL be close. In this newly created series with Harlan, both teams have been blown out once by the other team and the other game (2003) Somerset escaped with a 7 point win (21-14). Eric Perry knows Somerset and he knows Jay Cobb. He's beat him at while at Garrad County and Harlan, and his brother has made a past time out of beating them while at Danville. This game will be close! Everyone said the same things that are being said now in 2003 when, as I mentioned above, Somerset escaped by the skin of their teeth against a very mediocre Harlan team. Yea, Somerset will shut down Harlan's offense for the most part because it is easily done with some decent speed. However, I wouldn't be surprised if JB Donahue and Eric Perry have some surprises for the Jumpers. I am going to stick with my previous prediction of Harlan escaping with a narrow victory. I know this could go either way but I am going to have to go with my team in this one. By the way, the home team has never won in this series yet! Keep that in mind both now, and in the playoffs because these teams will likely see each other again. Daddy Cat and Dragon Pappy, calm down for Christ sake… Opinions are like you know what’s, everybody has one and thinks that theirs doesn’t stink. Just watch the game and see what happens. Should be a good one, might not be though.

Yea, I think you need to explain. 13 points is the least Danville has scored all year, their closest performance... 33. You are averaging 50 points a game against some pretty good teams even after including this game. Before this game you were averaging 54.6. Unless there is some serious unrest in Admiral Country concerning Coach Harp, I think this is just another case of panic. You have only lost one game, calm down boss.

I will agree, Frank could lay a hammer down. I remember his senior season at Harlan when they played Lynn Camp in the playoffs and he killed Quentin Henson. Nebraska was there to watch Henson but Frank and the rest of that team had him so frustrated from getting hit that he threw a fit on the sideline and the Nebraska scouts just left. Just as a foot note, he is now a co-defensive coordinator at Harlan with Eric Perry.

Well, Harlan has to keep the scoring low in order to win this game. While Harlan did score 62 points on Pineville last night, it was Pineville. I think that Harlan has the ability to win this game but only if they limit Somerset's ability to make a big play by doubling up Somerset's stud receiver and forcing the QB to make quick decisions. I think that if the Dragons can keep Somerset out of the end zone and allow them to score NO MORE THAN 3 TD's, then Harlan wins. If Somerset scores more than 21 points, then Harlan will struggle to stay in this one. So I will take Harlan in a close one 22-21. However, if Somerset scores more than 21, then Harlan's chances really diminish.

Tight... well then again, not tight. Lynn Camp plays with Somerset for the 1st half and then Somerset starts playing physical with them. I'll take Somerset 35-20. However, I think playing this team the week before Harlan (who is pretty well off with Pineville this week) may have an impact on the Jumpers. While Harlan doesn't run the Wishbone/Power I with 2 TE's anymore, they are still arguably the most physical team in this district. Hopefully the Jumpers stay healthy because their schedule could end up looking like this... Lynn Camp Harlan Lynn Camp Harlan Just throwing that out there...

Good prep game for Somerset for Harlan. Not saying that Pineville is even on the same page as Somerset, but they throw the ball a lot now which will be what Harlan will see next week. Again, while the athletes aren't on the same page as Somerset, this should be a good game for coach Perry to experiment with his pass rush combos and coverages for next week. I'll take Harlan is a lop sided one 44-7 (Could be close for the 1st though if Harlan overlooks them. I don't see that happening though.)

In a situation like this, I'm glad I wasn't the ref. Because if I was, there would have been a lot of mysterious holding calls that knocked off some of his yardage and a few of his touchdowns. I am not advocating cheating in order to win, don't get me wrong. I am not even advocating cheating to keep a score close. However, when some nut jobs get a pretty good team on their hands it seems like they want to beat people like this and crush other kids hopes. This will come back to haunt this coach in the long run in many ways...

Pikeville is probably the most underrated team in 1A football in any part of the state. Just my opinion...

I honestly do think that M-boro is better than Breathitt. Roark's teams have always gotten better as the year has went on and I think they will be ready for this game. Again, I hope that Harlan can pull it off in the end, but I don't see it happening. NG73, I will take the game ball offer again if you win because this would be great for you guys heading into the playoffs, and better yet Somerset. Good luck guys, prove me wrong.:thumb:

I think coach Donahue will be able to hold on to the ball long enough to where it will be hard for M-boro to put up the big numbers. Maybe under 200 is a little low so I will go with 250. However, I won't be supprised if Harlan can stop M-Boro with Coach Perry calling the defensive shots. One thing is for sure, this should be a pretty competitive game. I see Harlan maybe making too many mistakes though due to the fact that M-Boro has possibly one of the fastest teams in Eastern Ky. Good luck to both teams.

I'm definitley not anti-Harlan and I dont think that I said anything to make it sound that way. I have the upmost respect for coach Perry and his defensive schemes. I honestly think that M-boro will score atleast 2 touchdowns of that score that I listed on defense/special teams. I think Coach Perry is pretty good at stopping the veer in the past and I look for him to hold M-boro to under 200 yards rushing. Don't be supprised though if M-boro brings in a couple touchdowns from Interceptions and maybe a punt. Harlan's Recievers and QB haven't seen this kind of speed in the secondary all year nor the kind of pressure that Roark will bring at them when they try to spread it out. Hopefully I'm wrong. I try to pick with my head and not with my emotions.

I can't see Cumberland stopping Lynn Camp's running game. This could be a really close ball game though. In the end I think this could be the fourth year in a row that Cumberland doesn't make the playoffs. Lynn Camp 22 Cumberland 21

Well I guess I will start this one. How is this game going to play out in your opinion? Both of these teams come in with only one loss (Harlan = Breathitt Co. and Middlesboro = Knoxville Central) but Middlesboro has played a hellacious schedule up to this point. Harlan's defense is stout but Middlesboro’s offense is putting up HUGE numbers. This has the makings of a good game.

Harlan-41 Williamsburg-34 While I know Harlan's defense is really good, in the past they have been weak against the pass. I don't know how much better they will be this year so look for Harlan to be down and have to crawl back into this one. In the last few years harlan hasn't brought a lot of pressure against Williamsburg either, so unless that changes this qb could be in for a big night. Also, Harlan is usually a little slow in the past after an off week so that is a factor as well.

By saying that the plays were not "lucky", you are implying that there are not any plays in football which are lucky? Just because you "mean to do something" doesn't mean that you aren't lucky when you do it. When a team throws a hail marry and they catch it in the end zone to end the game, is that not "lucky" just because they meant to do it? When you get an interception it is good defense, I will give you that. However, a "timely" interception can be considered lucky. The last time I checked I didn't say it was good or bad defense, I was only saying that the "big O Line" of Lynn Camp did not get “dominated” like you said. Maybe I do "over react" to people being somewhat cocky in their comments, I'll admit that. However, as far as telling me my comments aren't grown up doesn't validate someone coming on here and saying things like "Lynn Camp's big O-line got dominated." Remember there are kids from Lynn Camp that read this website too and I was only taking up for them. In the end, all I was stressing was that your "D-line" did not “dominate” anyone which is evident by the statistics. If I do recall coach Donahue said in the Harlan Daily Enterprise himself that this wasn't the best game his defense had played this year. Do you wish to dispute that with him? I am not taking away from the good win which it was. If you wish to refer to my comments earlier I gave them kudos for a "good win nevertheless." So while I admit that the mathematician comment may have been a little bit over the line and I apologize for that, I don't think I have been insulting to these kids caliber of play what so ever. All that I have done is try to keep Harlan’s heads level in public and not let them soak in comments about how they "dominated" someone. I also do this so that Lynn Camp kids who suffered the loss don’t have to listen to how much Harlan killed them. The last time I checked it was a close game which with the exception of a few plays could have went either way. To conclude this post I will say that I have nothing against you or any other poster on this website. My only wish is to see these kids play with some form of character not only on the field, but off of it as well, and not give themselves a bad name through some trivial web posts. But like I said, I have nothing against you and I definitely have nothing against these kids. And trust me, I have a lot more "perspective" than you might think. Have a good day.

Last time I checked he had 232 of the rushing yards and he touched the ball 40 times. While you might think this is ammunition for your side of this argument, I think you need to look at those numbers deeper. The last time I checked it didn't take a scholar with a doctorate in mathematics to figure out that 40 goes into 232, 5.8 times. This means that on average he was getting about 6 yards per carry against your defense. While I don't think he is going to challenge Adrian Peterson for the Heisman, that statistic speaks for itself. Which brings me to my final conclusion, two carries at 5.8 yards per carry is a first down and then some. While I know this wasn't the case always, you have to give some credit to the offensive line of Lynn Camp which seemed to be opening holes (except inside the 20). Given a few of the lucky breaks that you all had, like a blocked punt and a very timely interception, you could be the ones on the end of a 21-8 ball game. You seem to be walking the line between cocky and confident right now. I understand you have a lot of team pride and that is awesome. However, you should avoid posts which make you come off as being somewhat cocky like this one. After all, wasn't it you which promised me the game ball a few weeks ago? Keep your head level and you will go far, don't and see how quick your comments are disregarded.

Breathitt will score as many as they want and Cawood will score a touchdown or two very late in the game.

I have to agree with LC99 on this one. I think Lynn Camp's defense is the one that needs to be getting the compliments from this game. While Harlan gets the win, this was by no means their best game defensively. They allowed 283 yards on the ground and 302 total yards. While this doesn't sound horrible for an entire game, it wasn't as good as Lynn Camps defense which allowed only 186 yards for the entire game. If it wasn't for some big plays on special teams and the Lundy interception, this game would be a Lynn Camp win. As far as saying that the "Dragon defense [was] unaffected by the Camp's big front line," I think that 283 yards on the ground IS CONSIDERED getting affected. Harlan had better improve before the playoffs on both sides of the ball because it is very likely that these two teams see each other in the first round. Good win nevertheless.

While this offense has worked over the years, here is an interesting fact concerning Harlan's defense against Lynn Camp over the past few years. Harlan has let up an average of only 19 points per game against Lynn Camp in the last five meetings (2001 season till the present). If you want to find out when the last time Lynn Camp scored more than 30 points on Harlan you will have to go back further than the KHSAA scoreboard will allow you to go (before 1998). While Harlan has had a few 30 plus point games against Lynn Camp in that time, it is interesting to know that in those last eight years Harlan has won 5 games and Lynn Camp has won 4. So I will say that this game will be very close and can go either way. But as for those people who are predicting Lynn Camp scoring over 30 points against this Harlan team... it is very doubtful. Look for a close, LOW scoring game.

While I know Cumberland played well against Harlan, Evarts will make a game of this. However, Evarts is probably down more this year than they were when Coach Evans left. With that being said I am going to go with Cumberland. Cumberland: 35 Evarts: 20 (It will be close going into the 4th quarter.)
