Anything can happen in a 1 game shootout,and i dont if reign is the right word. But boyd would have to be the favorite this year as they most of the time are.They return 7 seniors with 5 of them playing major roles in the last 2 state tournament teams. Pitchers they return 5 of top 6, about all that is up for grabs on this team is 1st base and 2 outfield spots. While boyd lost a lot of talent last year there is usually a lot on the bench waiting their turn.

Or who knows, you may get one that would like to actually get an education in a christian atmosphere one day. Or learn about the 11th commandment.

JUST WONDERING.... after seeing GODISATOMCAT avitar how many times the new coach has got a free cup of coffee at a CLARKS PUMP-N-SHOP in westwood and asked how REX is doing????

Well said Tiny, I would like to take this time to welcome new coaches Rick Griffith & Davey Wooten to BC staff. Look for boyd to put a team on the floor with great chemristy, a bunch of 6"3 & 6"4s with some quickness,that spends a lot of time on their bellys in the 3rd row of bleachers.win or lose should be a fun and entertaining team to watch that leaves it all on the floor each and every time.

Make sure he goes to a school that does not have a new locker room or at least is in need of one.

Why is it the baseball team is so successful year in and year out and the football team stuggles to even compete, with a good season having around a 500% season.

When these 2 were 7 or 8 yrs. old coach Hamilton would take them to the building on whites creek, and they say to this day the reason they both hit so well, coach would take a sand weighted bozo punching bag and tape pictures of their dads on them. And they would have at it for an hour,Casey developed into a switch hitter because they put pictures of his dad on both sides and a line drive hitter because he always tried to hit his mouth, Kyle is more of a power hitter for all the obvious reasons, his dad is a little uglier!!!

Amen, these 2 boys have battled adversity all their life.

Whats wrong with that? 10% of the people will always do 90% of the work at any level. Go to any varsity game and you will see parents of varsity kids that are front line players working that are not supposed to, just because somebody did not show or was just extra busy. why take advantage of that 10% they would like to see their kid play to. Now that the jv season is over lets see how many jv parents, come out to help, (THIS WOULD BE NICE) If you have time to burn up this message board (3 pages) you have time to sell a few hotdogs.

The cold sometimes hard truth is this is BC baseball, and why they have been successfull for many years. I would rather they tell the kid if he doesnt improve before next year theres not going to be a spot for him, then see how bad he wants it but thats not their style. But the coaches will not hesitate to tell you the grass is always green because they are always pulling WEEDS.

Boyd Co. won AABC state title in summer of 99 with the Wamsley and Thornsberry group that graduated last year. For the first title then came back next year and won it again in 2000 with a team that looked exactly like this. Moore,Gatrell,Keyser as pitchers. Austin Hunter,Kyle Potter,Tyler Whitt (outfield) Keyser 1stbase, Zane Hall 2ndbase Gatrell ss, Austin Blair 3rd (russell) Casey Branham, catcher.The 99 team played in Atlanta the 2000 team played in Franklin, Tenn. Dont know for sure if 99 team went undefeated in state tourny. think they did, but do know the 2000 team did. Know they defeated raceland once in tourny. not sure if they played twice. I think if your friend checks maybe they are refering to summer of 01.

Dont know about the better team part you could very well be right, but i do know for sure Boyd Co. won back to back AABC state championships with kids that are juniors and seniors. on this current team.

Dont look for this trend to change. This team has super pitching and defense but they only have 2 or 3 kids on the team that are going to hit somebodys number 1 or 2 pitcher. This has been proven from the last couple of post seasons. Now that everyone are starting to show their better pitchers your hitters and pretenders are going to surface. And with the lineup they have now they are so spread out up and down the lineup it only makes things worse. One of their better hitters got his first at bat in the 3rd inning against raceland and had 1 of the 2 clean hits off Grizzle. If they dont bunch these better hitters so they cannot be pitched around and play some small ball with the rest its going to put a lot of pressure on the pitching to be perfect.

Looks like Boyd Co. schudule 9 of top 20, Just makes you better come post season.

I dont know about leaving but i hear Roger Zornes is getting back into coaching somewhere. Which is good he is to good of a coach not to be on some schools bench.

You can slice it any way you want to but any kid that shoots 12 for 36 from the floor - shot his team out of any chance they had to win. I would have liked to have seen what would have happened in the third quarter when they had a 8 pt lead and the ball three straight trips down the floor and Owens forced up contested 3 pointers.

From what I witnessed at the game mentioned in the article - it is probably for the best. I think his actions bled over to his fans sitting behind the bench and they got totally out of hand. The more rowdy he got, the more he fueled them. I was embarrassed for the school.
