14th Region opener in Hindman. Either team couldnt have asked for a better first round game, as I think - save Wolfe - each other are the only teams they are capable of beating. I take Jackson City in a close one.

14th region opener in Hindman. I really believe Estill has this one. JBS should have the home court advantage obviously - but Estill will be well travled, I'm sure. I'm pretty happy about this draw. I'll take Estill.

Is the bracket just like the games will be played? Hazard, Wolfe, Estill, and JBS on one side of the bracket with the other 4 on the other side?

I couldnt disagree more. How many did Rich have in the 4th? I know he had a runout lay up and hit two freethrows at the end. And rather or not he hit the free throws - Lee was still up by with a second a half to go. There isnt much you can do going the length of the floor with a second a half. As far as the free throw goes - you have to remember that he drew the foul off a great move going into the basket. He missed a free throw that would have only tied a game with still 5 seconds to go. Theres no way to know if it would have even sent the game into OT. I never said Dixon should have been MVP - just not Rich. As far as our game - Rich was shut down - and in a big way. Fetters won the district title last night.

Anyone have any info yet? Couldnt find it on the radio?

A very valid post, and one I can agree with. I would be surprised to see Wolfe or Cordia get passed the first round - but not shocked to say the least.

Luck of the draw really. They could either have a sure win in Wolfe, a probable win in Cordia or a toss up with Leslie.

Dixon would have been a good choice - and you could have easily made an argument for Reese, Christopher, or Puckett who all played tramendous basketball in Beatyville this week. Again - I dont know what Rich did in the game with Owsley - but he was shut down big time last night. Fetters was their only real weapon other than a couple threes by Brandenburg.

Well no matter what they are going to draw either Hazard, Lee, or Jackson City. The only one I see them having a chance with would be Jackson.

I would really love these two teams lock horns one last time. Each game has been a classic with Lee County just edging the Engineers out each time - I really wish the Bobcats the best of luck as I respect them a lot. - Hope we can both get to that regional final.

Thats a very tough draw for Clark - and a very easy draw for Mason. Actually not a very good draw for Pendelton either as I could see Clark winning it.

Well said, Bball. I have to hand it to everyone in Beatyville. They are just a class act bunch of people. We get a bad rep up here in the mountains for being a sterotypical "redneck" with that same attitude - but man - your fans were compeletely respectable. I heard no offensive chants or seen any signs of a negative content on either side. It was all about seeing a good game played by two of the regions best. And I think we all got what we came for.:thumb:

Because Owsley is a member of our district, IMO. And theres a huge difference between Owsley and Riverside.

That's exactly the problem....it's not going to happen. Schools in Lexington, Richmond, and Georgetown has the plethora of talent to go through. Im old fashioned myself - and like to see two teams struggle against each other - pull out all the stops to get their bucket. Not just run the length of the court and throw it down. A lot of fans are turned on by this kind of game - but it bores me to death. Id much rather see two teams on a court in the mountains dull it out on the floor than two teams in Lexington do it in the air.

I dont ever remember a regional tourney when any of the 8 teams had atleast some chance of winning the tournament. This should be one crazy week in Hindman.

Fair enough - I'll rephrase. Looking at the four one seeds - Hazard, Lee, JBS, and Jackson City - which of those four would you rank fourth? Most, I believe would go with Jackson City. I know a 2 seed would not want to play solid teams like Hazard and Lee or JBS in their home town - so Jackson CIty is most likely who us 2 seeds will be itching to play first round in Hindman.

Its def. within the realm of possibility. It will depend on how the draws come tomorrow afternoon - and how badly each team wants it.

Ah the 11th region is a bore to me. Big flashly play doesnt feel like high school basketball.

Well not exactly, Mysteryman. Lee will be getting a district runner up while Estill will get a district winner. Estill will either be playing Jackson City, Hazard, or June Buchanan. Lee will either be playing Leslie, Wolfe, or Cordia.

I'm a little surprised by the score personally. I thought JBS would have taken Corida by more than this. Gives me warmer feelings about a possibe matchup with JBS in the 14th.

Only problem with that would be Jackson City/Cordia. You got solid teams playing in the three other games and than have two of the weaker teams play?

I'm glad to see Hazard pull this one off. Going soley on possible draws for Estill - I know the bulldogs are beatable on a neutral court as Estill took them to OT at Memorial Gym.
