That's why we play away games. It's part of the reason of having a home court. Whenever a team goes on the road they are expected to play the crowd while theyre there - and the coach moving his players, isnt that he was feeling disrespected - he was just outmoving them.

Very good post, Professor, and I agree 100 percent. From what I've seen of Estill the last few times I seen them play they are playing solid defense and at times have showed that they can really light it up from anywhere on the court. Leader Clinton Dixon had a bad night against Madison Southern but I heard a local fan say that he may have irritated his back in the game. I'm not sure how many Berryman had but he spotted up for a couple threes from WAY out, and Reese and Christopher made a lot of good plays including a long three from Reese. The last I seen of Powell was actually the Estill game - and I havent been able to catch a game in Stanton as of late - so I cant say fullheartedly that I know Estill is doing better - but over the course of the year Estill has had their number and it will continue at the tournament.

Anyone have any predictions for regional tennis? The only two regions that I am associated with are the 11th and 14th. Model should take the 11th and Estill should take the 14th region for their 2nd respective years.

Anyone know if Philip Ardnt is still in Lancaster? If so, he'd be somewhere in my top 10-15.

From what I have heard from people who have went to school with Crowe and know him on and off the court - he has a problem with goofing off and not taking his game serious. I have no idea if this has to do with why he is currently suspended though.

What changes could be made? They dont have a whole lot of talent depth to work with (especially with the departure of Neeley)....and they open the tournament against Lee County. I really dont see how, short of a miracle, they can win.

That's a very good point, Phenom. I'm not sure how well Reyes and Stedman play together - but I wouldnt be surprised if they play doubles come time for state tournament. It's going to be a real feat to knock Eric Quigley out of the singles championship - but as far as I can see - the doubles bracket is wide open. Speaking of which, phenom, how's the Montgomery Co. team this year? Sypes graduated did he not?

Well obviously Lee County is the favorite. They are 6-0 in regular season district play (not to mention they beat Estill in a non district game) and they are playing on their home court. Being the favorite doesnt mean they'll win. If Estill Co. gets past Powell, I really think they stand a chance of knocking off Lee County. Other than that, I dont think Powell could squeek by Estill and then beat Lee at home.

It would be great if he could dress and play on his senior night - but if he wasnt sure he could produce - I wouldnt risk him. Even if he just starts - an accident could happen that quick. I think a game before districts is a good time for him to come back. Get one game under his belt before making a run at the regional qualifying.

Well...Powell County will really come wanting this one for obvious reasons. Just as Estill wants a win over Lee - Powell will want one over Estill as they havent beaten them. And of course, it's a lose and go home game as well. Estill will probably be looking forward to that game with Lee County which could trip them up if Powell County capitalizes. I still take Estill as they are just too well coached for this to happen.

With just a handfull of games seperating the four teams from tournament play in Beattyville - how do you feel the tournament will go as of now? Game One: Lee County vs. Owsley County: Should be a walk over game for Lee County in all likelyhood. The homecrowd, not to mention the fact that Lee County is a much better team leads to doubt in this one. Tyler Rich and co role into the finals. Game Two: Estill County vs. Powell: This could be an exciting game as the game in Irvine was a classic in this growing feud. Powell led by a significant margin only to see Estill rush back and force an overtime where they pulled out a win. Powell has much to prove in this one - but I dont think they have enough firepower to match Estill's experienced scorers Dixon, Berryman, and Reese in a big game situation. Finals: Lee County vs. Estill: I am going to venture a guess that this will be the fourth matchup of five between these two teams, as I feel they are tops in the 14th Region. Lee County has the advantages of the home court and no doubt confidence coming off an easy win of Owsley (this of course doesnt have to be true.) Estill has the advantage of revenge as they will try to prove that they are capable of being the team to knock off Lee County. Estill missed a three at the end of regulation to send the first game into overtime and let a lead get away the last time they were in Beatyville - so they will be pumped up. My final prediction is, sorry hometown Bobcats, Estill County. I know this is going to be on Lee's court, but Estill will be ready to finally pick up that much needed win. If it makes you feel better, I think these two teams will meet again in the finals in Hindman with Lee County getting the revenge. Final Predictions. Lee over Owsley by 20 or more (78-54). Estill over Powell in a hard fought game (64-55). Estill upsetting Lee in the finals. (71-66) Now what are your thoughts?

One of the boys at Bryan Station can throw it down. Foxx, I believe. Whichever one it was he really got off the floor quick and in a big way.

Again, I agree as long as it isnt going to be a precursor to an argument or something of a nasty scene. (And we're talking about severe situations here - such as threatening players or coaches)

I think Lee County is still playing good basketball. They beat a good Estill County team at home before brushing off Breathitt and then just falling short of knocking off a very well playing Montgomery team at home. With a couple away games that should be cupcake games --- and then, what is sure to be a great game with LCA on senior night...I think the Bobcats are going to play well into a region title.

Well in theory of course they should. I could see a few extreme instances where maybe the time it takes to shake hands would not be worth it (as one coach this year screamed "you better do something or were going to start hurting these kids out here.") Personally, if a coach said that about one of my teams, it probably wouldnt be the best idea for me to go shake his hand. Other than those extreme situations --- yeah you should always make the time to shake hands and really set it in your kid's minds to always show sportsmanship.

Ah, than that it is a very good point. I was under the impression there would be a concelation game.

I have heard rumors that Coach Coldiron's job is on the fence right now. I'd say his job is lying under the weight of how Powell does at districts. I wouldnt venture to say that they have to beat Estill, but in the likely event they play Owsley for third - Coach Coldiron will surely need a win there to secure his job.

I am guessing that the Estill County team that finished fourth last year will be moving into the 14th region this year as they did in other sports. I'm sure they should be a force in a weaker region.

St. X is probably the favorite to have the best all around time, while Quigley from South Oldham will be the clear favorite to repeat as state champion.

That's an impressive win for Perry, even if Gilbert wasn't on the court. It will be interesting to see if Wolfe can make any sort of run towards the end of the season when Gilbert is back 100%.
