There are so many great stories about King Kelly Coleman. One of my favorites is of an interview in which the opposing coach said " Coleman won't beat us. We'll hold him to 35 points." Coleman's response, " In which quarter".

I saw Lee, Wolfe and Meniffee play last week. Both Lee and Wolfe defeated Meniffee. Meniffee looks to be a very weak team. The Wolfe and Lee game was much better. Both teams looked sharp. Lee led most of the game but Wolfe fought their way back to within a few points on several occasions. These 2 teams have played each other tough every time I've seen them play. I was very impressed with Lee considering they lost so many seniors.

Don't overlook the Wolves. They lost only 2 seniors. Several good players ( all of whom started at times) are returning. They've had a good summer. Jackson and Owsley lost their coaches. This will almost certainly have a negative impact on those teams.

I expect Breathitt to be #1, Riverside #4 and the other two pretty equal. Wolfe did play Jackson once this summer and beat them. I understand that one of Wolfe county's players went to Riverside.

The wolves have had some success. They've won several games ( Jenkins, Jackson, a Lex Cath team, Sayre) and played several teams close ( East Jessamine, Knott, a couple others) and they lost handily to a few teams (Powell, Oneida). I'm sure I've left out several games. They played these teams with several players absent. Not the best summer but they look like they will be a better team than last year.

I personally feel that the action taken upon this coaches' livelyhood by removing him from his position may be an action of discrimination that the station may not wish to pursue. Although there is much discrimination against african americans, discrimination against white professionals in sports is not unheard of. With no other reason given for his firing, and his excellent record one must conclude that the station under its political pressure is going to try to hire a black coach.

I think Breathitt, Hazard and JBS will be at or near the top. Players to watch will be Smith and Holland at Breathitt, Campbell at Hazard and Cox at JBS. Gay and Blank at Buckhorn. Others?

Augger, I agree. I'd like to add that Holland and Kinser shot the lights out from the outside. They seldom missed.

To the underclassmen list add Brandon Campbell-Wolfe and Drew Davidson-Jackson city. These 10 made up the blue team.The white team included Blank and Gay-Buckhorn, Stamper-Knott, Stepp and Cox-JBS, 3 others I didn't know and 2 who didn't attend. I hope this is correct. The game was very entertaining with the Blue team taking the win. Smith was THE stand out player in the game. Excellent under the goal on both offense and defense. The blue teammates played well together and several stood out. Davidson really hustled, never stopped and was able to get inside and score over the big guys. Charles and Cackling were impressive. They all contributed! I don't know the White team players so well and I didn't watch them as closely. However, Blank came up big several times and really helped keep the White team in the game. I really expected more from Gay, Stepp and Cox. They played well but didn't stand out. Maybe one of you guys who know those players would be willing to give us a more accurate picture of the White Team players?

Anyone have information on who we may get to see if we attend this game?

No charge at Wolfe Co. I wouldn't be surprised if admission to baseball games is free more often than not.

The game certainly won't hurt them physically. It could possibly hurt them by making them over-confident. Sometimes such an easy victory can lead to a let-down.

Very doubtful! They haven't even made to the championship with their varsity yet. Sounds like a "true believer" with pie-in-the-sky dreams and stars in his eyes. Blinded by the light you might say!

Many think Hazard got the best draw, in the 14th, by drawing Wolfe Co. I guess that means Wolfe got the worst draw?

Knott should win this one easily. Lest we forget, Wolfe county beat the Owls at Owsley. Most folks rank Wolfe as the weakest team in the tournament.

Thanks. I've heard most of those names. Which Evans are you speaking of? I know there are 2 who play for Wolfe county.

I respect coach Wright. Hope he makes the decision that is best for him. As for those of us that play for or support teams that have to play Lee, his resigning would be the best thing that could happen for us. Guess that might be a little selfish, huh?

Now that we know which teams are playing I have a question. Who is/are the best player/players for each team in the tournament?
