  1. True but coaches/AD's are sent weekly updates on the SETH rankings. So you should know by looking at the first one if you are going to be in or not. First rankings come out if you are in top 15 you will probably stay in it.The problem is with 18-22. Fairdale was in until the last games before the new year was played. However, You don't get points for wins or deductions for losses vs out of state teams. Cal Jumped up by winning a tournament and Fairdale/Desales tied. Record vs head to head decided the tie breaker. Fairdale got no points for two wins in Daytona.
  2. Per round for participating teams. You make the finals you get money for each round. It can be a nice pay day. If you don't participate you get nothing and you can only play one game when the LIT doesn't.
  3. Very bad rule. I think you can also play on the Monday to if you don't make the field. If your going to make this a rule than JCPS should automatically schedule the teams not playing against each other. Some teams wont play certain schools and leaves teams scrambling to find games. JCPS wants this tournament to be the showcase so you cant have games during LIT game days. So not only do teams struggle to find games they don't get any of the money that's generated if you don't play in it.
  4. An excused absence: Dr note, funeral etc. will allow you to play in JCPS
  5. The problem with the old format was getting good out of Co teams. I think the quality had dropped. You can now play 30 games. Each game you play counts towards that number. Teams from out of co have to determine if they could win it or not and save 3 games. If they lost the first game then you have to find games late in the year which can be difficult to do. Louisville teams have to play if they qualify so they schedule accordingly depending on how good you are. Trinity/Ballard will probably save 4 games in hopes of getting to finals. Middle of the road teams may save two or three games. You will see teams in Louisville scrambling to find games once they lose in LIT. A school like Ballard if they lose early will have a tough time finding games.
  6. The girls side is not run by the same committee. Jerry Wyman does not over see it. The boys is all Louisville schools. The girls still have the old format and use the LIT ratings to seed and determine the Louisville schools. Personally like the boys way of an all Louisville tournament to see who is the best. I think the girls do it for a better crowd/attendance. Its very restrictive on Louisville teams to get in. Its usually the same Louisville schools every year. Its hard for up an coming girls teams in Louisville to get in. As for the Boys seeding, the only thing that needs to change is you get no points for playing out of state teams. You can beat the #1 team from another state and get no points. The SETH rankings can hurt teams who like to travel out of state for tournaments.
  7. Will Muschamp has agreed to take the job. What a terrible hire. He was awful at Florida. don't understand why colleges hire and fire the same guys. Good news for UK football.
  8. How good would Waggener be with Wells and Cooper still on the team. Sell out to aau guys will come back to haunt you.
  9. Sometime in November after the rankings come out.
  10. Why has the KHSAA adopted a two game scrimmage for all sports? I get football with only 10 regular season games. You can play 30 regular season games in basketball. Why not allow up to 4 scrimmages a year? Teams would get more out of this. You always seem to see teams get better in their next scrimmage. Coaches make the comment if we just had another scrimmage or a week we would be ready. October 15 to the starting date is along time. Teams get bored going against each other. Should also change the rule with lower levels. If a freshman team wanted to scrimmage another Freshman team without the varsity it counts as one of the two scrimmages allowed.
  11. Unfortunately Coach Miller has been diagnosed with stage IV lung Cancer. Coach Miller is legend in the baseball world and was inducted into the KY Athletic Hall of Fame last year. The PRP community has been devastated with this news. Please keep Coach Miller and his family in your thoughts and prayers
  12. Basically if you aint out there getting players they are not going to come to your school and your talent level will not be competitive with the schools that are.
  13. In my opinion the X alumni is not in favor of allowing no catholic kids in at the rate as others. A very prominent X grad and supporter said, " if my son gets passed over for a team, I will raise all kinds of issues and stop my support." X is more selective. I could be wrong just what I hear from alumni that I know.
  14. Why a lot of coaches in Louisville are getting out. All coaches in Louisville go after 8th graders. However, most coaches didn't bother players once they enrolled in a school. The young coaches today have no problem doing that. Why you are seeing so many transfers. Its like college anymore in Louisville, an assistant coach take a job and one or two go with him or come from another school. JCPS has allowed this. I don't believe for one second that all these families have moved. Especially the ones who transfer multiple times.
  15. They return a lot of good players and will be good. However, in my opinion they don't have a dominate player and our not very physical. They rely on their system to beat you. I think that hurts them in the 6th. They wont play all the teams in the 6th kind of pick and choose. I think if they played more of a regional schedule it would toughen them up. Too many soft games. Just my opinion.
  16. The best I saw in the 7th was Trinity and Eastern. Trinity looked better than last year. Ran their offense really well and played as a team. Eastern was very athletic. They played a lot faster than last year. Didn't see Ballard but as always they will be in the mix. I think the wild card will be Male with new coach Feldhaus. The 6th is wide open. Fern Creek and Bullitt East look to be the favorites but they don't scare you. Lots of transfers in the 6th so will have to see how those teams progress.
  17. There is very little rules followed in Jefferson Co. Kids can basically transfer every year and nothing is done. Once in a while if its a high profile transfer there may be questions raised but transfers are usually granted. Most of these transfers begin with summer basketball. Kids are playing for different teams as soon as school is out. They will be ruled eligible. The kids that transferred from private to public will get challenged.
  18. I don't see how this series continues. This game means nothing to the kids or fans. When Mr. Basketball no longer plays and your top big man skips it shows they have moved on from the high school game. Jason Frakes tweeted a crowd of 785. How can any charity make any profit off this game. We have now lost 13 straight. I was a small part of this game in the early 90's and the crowd at Freedom Hall was close to 10,000 and at Indiana was 17,000. The community embraced this game and it had plenty of sponsors. Now I didn't even realize the game was tonight. I have seen no advertisement on this game at all. Sad but its no longer a big deal to kids.
  19. The NCAA is so mad at UNC they are going to punish Cleveland St. again..lol
