  1. Not true. They conflict constantly. Football teams were playing in leagues two or three days a week and tournaments or camps on the weekends same as basketball. Some kids were playing football in the morning and basketball at night. It does make it difficult on multisport athletes.
  2. None. Ive never really understood it. pretty much glorified two hand touch passing. Fairdale won a league defeating St. X one summer. Anyone can throw when no pressure. Throwing teams I can see getting some benefit.
  3. I would agree. Surprised that football coaches allowed this and did not fight harder against. This is the result of the KABC and being organized. When your organized and active you become influential. However, football does get an organized spring practice. The problem was bickering over kids. 7on7 and summer league basketball. Football coaches were wanting them all summer arguing that their season is starting first. What they disregarded was if your best basketball players are on the football team and the football team makes the playoffs, Those players miss pretty much your whole preseason in basketball. The state football finals dont end til December. Not many football coaches would be happy missing their starting QB for a month. This happens to basketball. This is the argument that the KABC used.
  4. Not an all Male school. They are 6A in football. Their enrollment is over 1600. One of the biggest schools in JCPS.
  5. Male is a traditional school. Basically a free private school. On paper you have to come from one of three traditional middle schools. Male fills up fast with traditional kids. Recently they have not allowed many slots for non traditional kids/athletes. In the past they were. I understand Football does and basketball has recently. They have heavy invlovement with parents and boosters. Challenging school to coach at in basketball. Expectations are state titles. A big problem is they have to keep their traditional kids. Traditional middle school kids are not locked in to Male or Butler and can choose any school they want. Three solid traditional middle schoolers are at Fern Creek this year. Coach Feldhaus is coming into a different world. Kids can go anywhere they want basically. They are influenced by a lot of people including aau coaches. If he just sits in his office and takes the kids who show up he will struggle to compete with Ballard/Trinity in that region. He will have to be visible and protect his kids or they will go elsewhere. Good luck to coach Feldhaus
  6. PRP will be adding transfers you can bet on that. Dont ever count them out. When they are down a little bit they will get players. Chris Drabo from Iroquois has already enrolled there. Expect more.
  7. Agree more bad basketball. Whats wrong with good spacing, patience, ball movement to get an open look as opposed to one on one pick and roll and force up a jumper?
  8. No its a great point. Three traditional kids ended up at Fern Creek. However those kids in the traditional program are kids that usually have parental influence. Those parents choose traditional and ultimately want their kids at Male or Butler. If you keep your kids you can win. Male was solid under Bryce Hibbard. He was able to keep his traditional kids.
  9. Why is everyone turning down Male? One of the most prestiegous schools in the state. Lots of resources and with the right coach would get just about all of the top traditional kids.
  10. Heard it on several occasions but not sure why it would be an issue. You no longer have to be a teacher to be a head coach. However, some schools only want coaches who are teachers and can be in the building. Most principals will tell you the two most important teacher/coaches in the building is the head basketball and football coach. They have major influence not only on their players but the student body. Not sure what the agreement was at Shawnee. Its just seems that some schools Shawnee and Moore cant ever have success due to administration. Moore has now had 5 coaches in the past 6 years. Something tells me there is an issue at the top.
  11. Im hearing it was not his decision. Hearing had to do something with teaching certification.
  12. Shawnee will never build a program. Coaching turnover every other year. Plus they are trying to make Shawnee a slect school. You have to apply to their middle school program and their aim is to keep those kids to improve academics. Shawnee hasnt cared about athletics for years. I also heard the coach was leaving due to a certification issue. He is a good coach and worked hard this past year from the beginning of the summer.
  13. I understand that party's go on. However, the issue of hazing and the legal problems it brings shouldnt be going on. With the way kids post their stupidity on social media, WKU had to just be over looking this.
  14. If this is still going on in todays college athletics with all the liability issues, then I have to question the leadership from the top. How does the Athletic director or coaching staff not know whats going on with their athletes on campus? How are they passing drug tests? Obviously with the problem of marijuana in todays society, athletes across the board are getting a free pass with their system.
  15. The demand to get in Butler is nowhere near what it is at Male. Male fills up with all traditional kids. In the past they have made concessions for coaches to allow non traditional athletes into Male. Butler does not fill up so non traditional kids can get in pretty easy especially if they are athletes. The majority of Butler's girls athletes are catholic kids.
  16. Gone: WCS, Towns, Twins, Lyles, Booker, possibly Johnson Transfer: Hawkins, Willis, Lee
  17. Goodin has won at both western and doss. Both were considered rebuilding jobs when he took them. Won district last year and left a team that would be favored and eventually win this years 6th region for KWC
  18. Yes Goodin to Butler is the rumor. I think with him or the right choice Butler is the best job. Not just limited to traditional kids
  19. Rumors is that Goodin turned Male down for Butler, Bibby couldnt take it this year, and now they trying to convince Renner. Havent heard anything on J-Town. Willie Feldhaus name also keeps coming up with Male
  20. I would say the first question Renner is ask Male is how many non-traditional athletes are you going to allow me to have? They say none he say's see you. If they say as many as you want then he may take it. I still say its Centrals Bibby to turn down.
  21. Yes. Owensboro improved all season. They kept getting better as the year went on. Some teams like Trinity peaked early and won games against good teams but stayed the same all year. Owensboro was a different team from the one I saw at this years KOB. Teams that improve all year and are playing better at the end of the season is a team that can win the state championship. Owensboro's win over Cov.Cath proved to me they can beat anybody. They had every opportunity to lose that game and found a way to win.
  22. Talk at the state tournament about the Male job Included: Centrals Bibby, Collins Gaither, KW's KC Goodin, Westerns Terrance Moorman, Fern Creeks Schooler, and Willie Feldhaus
  23. I would pay also. I brought my son up for Sat/Sun games and he was ready to leave because he couldnt use his phone. I realize your not there to play on your phone but times have changed. I just wanted to get tournament updates and even follow State tournament tweets.
  24. Maybe if you can get cell phone coverage in Rupp and could check NCAA scores you wouldnt have to leave.
