Big Game Player

First day of official practice for high school basketball. I dont know about you but I'm excited!!!:dancingpa

I am not looking into this rating to much.

I like Garrison's play and glad a Mountain boy is up there but I dont see him at # 11. Just don't see it.

Not in this part of the state yet but if there in Lexington I cant wait to see one. I dont know half the names on the team this year seems like.

:thumb: I agree with the top 5 especially. There isnt a 10pt difference in any team 5-12 from what is returning and what I witnessed this summer. I just cant wait to see which 5-12 teams knocks off some of these top 5 we are putting on a pedestal. :sssh:

I agree. He is proven and seems to be as solid as it gets at the pg position. Without him I don't see Hazard making it past Perry C. Dont forget Cox though is also proven after leading his team to state his sophomore year at June B.Without Cox I don't see Knott being mentioned. Cox is tough but seems not to be in the spot light as much as Whitaker and other players. IMO its his style of play. He makes a difference in the game no matter is he is touching the ball or not. Cox always makes good decisions and always seems to be in the right spot at the right time. Just his style of play gets the job done but isnt flashy. Either way it goes , Whitaker or Cox would be my 2 players in the 14th to build a team around.

I am going by record and consistency over years. Can't go without saying about good Scared Heart's coach is, without question.

Perry's Coach is one of if not the best in the 14th. Also I'd say Letcher's for what he accomplished at Whitesburg.

Congrats to Elliott. Goodluck in the upcoming games on the Beach. Represent for KY.

I'd say your right. Loosing Hall is a big lose down low.

Had this situation in high school. Two players going head to head in practice and one is getting upset because the other is getting the best of him.Best two players on the team. Player B forgets basketball and just wants to fight Player A. Player A understands its just two competitors going hard and getting better but stands his own ground. Coach steps in and tells Player B to calm down and then he can't be doing that in a game. Player B smarts off to the coach and won't shut up, walks out of gym and then transfers next week to another school. Student B plays for other school and team doesnt do so well. The original team flourishes after the "bad attitude" left. Starting of next year player B wants to transfer back. Coach has team vote, all vote NO.

Sounds like this parent is just trying to enhance their child's chances at winning. If academics have nothing to do with it then the child isn't being hurt or deprived of a better education, so no harm done there. If the child chose to go there (for the reason of basketball or not) or the parents encouraged them to go there (for any reason) and they left with a positive attitude then I see nothing wrong.But if the child was made to go without the desire to go then I see more injustice done to that child than anything. More factors also need to be included. Does that family live close or have family in other school/county? Example: The child may have friend/family in the other school that he was better friends with that anyone in his previous school.

Did the Jones girl graduate?

When Sturdivant went down there were a girl or 2 that stepped up and put the ball in the basket. I am not for sure the grade level or names of these girls but if they return then the guard play shouldn't be much of a problem.

Wow, I didnt realize he was that successful there. Sounds like Powell has made 2 right moves in the hiring of new coaches.

Right, my coach always said "everyday you don't work on your game is a day you get passed up, because you can bet someone is working one theirs. And more than likely that is the player or team you meet in the finals of a tournament".

Congrats to Coach Hall. Very classy person and can't wait to see how he does at Powell.

All around team isn't tough but they have a guard that can burn the nets from deep. Watched him this summer dribble down and pull a step or 2 inside half court with a hand in his face and was given the green light. I didn't get his name but someone said he was a senior and was always practicing.The entire team can shoot the 3.
