  1. Way to go Jackson City! NOthing at all to hang your heads about!! We are all VERY proud of the Tigers in Breathitt County and would have loved to continue to cheer you on at Rupp. Thanks for the excitment!!
  2. Wow!! Was this his decision or did the "people above" have a say in this? Which leads me to my next question, will Baker hang around in Stanton?
  3. I am going to stick with the Tigers of Jackson City. These kids play with a lot of heart. They are very fast paced, which IMO could possibly be hard for Leslie to handle. I will go with the upset, Jackson City 78- Leslie 70. JMO
  4. I agree Green Machine, all those listed are exceptional players. Can't wait to see how those named above come out playing their last season!
  5. If these 2 players don't play, or are not close to 100%.......I will take Leslie by 15.
  6. That's great! I really hope these guys come together and give it there all this year. I know that they respected Coach Dean and was used to his style. I love watching Muncie play and would hate to see his last year go by in a poof!
  7. Sorry to step on your toes Kids Fan, didn't mean it to be a slap in the face. Just didn't know if Coach Varney had much other baseball coaching experience or what is role was in Hazard. EVERYONE on here knows how you feel about the sacred Powell County Baseball program, don't take others opinions straight to heart
  8. What is the future looking like for the Pirates, will Coldiron resume at the helm next year?
  9. Agreed! Great game by the Tigers, they kept it together when it mattered! Everyone in the 14'th better be watching out for Jackson City.....They are for real!
  10. Just wondering what facts you are basing your opinions on. I know he was an assistant coach at Hazard, we all know that doesn't prove anything, ecspecially when you are 1 of 4 assistants. ???? I am sure he is capable of becoming a good coach. If he keeps the support he has In Powell County and leaves the supporters you call "lost over the last 2-3 years...........LOST, then he will succeed. I am pretty sure Varney has already figured that out in Stanton! Coach Varney just needs to click with his team and not worry about the so called "supporters or non-supporters"......and from what I have heard from down the road, his Seniors are NOT on the wagon with him :(
  11. Powell may be pulling it together when it counts. Great game!
  12. Can't believe all this is brought up again. He left Powell County to go to the biggest school in the 14'th region as Kids Fan stated. Who wouldn't, if you wanted an upgraded position. Lets all just leave it at that and get over it, baseball season is almost here!!
  13. Wow!! Great research Jeter Fan! The numbers speak for themselves, not much you can say after that response. Dean has to rank in the top 3 in the 14'th after reading this.
  14. Come on Kids Fan. Surely you still aren't bitter?? Let it go.........you don't want on blood pressure medicane like me! lol
  15. Powell will have several holes to fill this year, know doubt about it. Banjo on the mound, Billings behind the plate, the CF is what sticks out in my mind, but I am sure they lost more than those 3. Those are 3 tough positions to follow. Not to mention the loss of Coach Dean. Alot of obstacles to overcome for the young pirates this year.
  16. Do you know if Letcher Central will be playing KY teams or others Cougarpride?
  17. Muncie from Powell is an athelete. Has to be considered top 5 in region. Owsley will have a lot to prove this year by reading those comments. Will be interested to see. I wish them the best.
  18. I agree with KF. However I have thought this the past 2-3 years about Coldiron. Begininng to wonder if Powell is going to keep him forever??
  19. Who is within? The owls assistant coach ? Smith played for the Owls in the mid 90's I believe.
