Couldn't agree with you more...this was not intended to leave out anyone, or to necessarily claim one kid over the others...heck, tell us about all of them! I am just excited waiting for the big nights, and growing weary of all the hypothetical debates...simply put, I would love to learn more about so many great kids of whom I know very little about...and...a thread that offers some positive only insight into the boys we see from the bleachers. You are right....I guess I should start one for every great kid on our team...there are MANY...I was hoping some others would run with that....oh well

I was just thinking about the performance of Brandon Brown from CCH this season, and more specifically what a top notch kid he is. He is top in his class academically, arguably the heart and soul of his football and basketball teams. But the kid is an absolute great young man. He is soft spoken, humble, and just a pleasure to be around. I am wondering about that type of kid at your schools. Who is that extra special kid for you?

Saw doc and received mri today..results coming soon (tomorrow? hopefully) ...team trainer said his mobility and lack of pain on Saturday was greatly improved from Friday...he was cautiosly very optimistic and pleasantly surprised with such an improvement over night...but we are all waiting for the official word....

There was a Ft Thomas state team many years ago, that noticed a big letter about every 100 yards or so on the side of 71 heading south as the team traveled to the old Fair Grounds, we could steal that idea: "G'....."O"....."C"...."O"...."L"...."O"...."N"...."E"...."L"....."S"..."W"..."I"..."N".. "S"..."T"...."A"..."T"...."E".... ...just an idea....it was pretty cool. Don't know if it's legal to place signage on the side of the interstate.....but nobody seemed to care...

they've got several pretty good athletic kids...for Ky football. They have two who have the bodies and the athleticism to play big time...Sutton and Popham the kicker. They have several who will play something at some level in college, but to my knowledge, no one is knocking down doors.

This is not a jab but an honest question as I have no knowledge of BG...are there really that many D1 kids on this team? Are we talking letters from, or offers from? If were talking the latter, that would be a major first. Some of the best teams ever never signed more than maybe 3 or 4 to big colleges...I find that fact amazing if true...can't wait to seem them perform.

...and...coach R refused help from some of us who wanted to provide heaters on the sidelines...said his guys didn't need distractions! Go Colonels!

Very, very happy to hear the Grimm young man is okay! That was an awesome atmosphere and the JC fans were top knotch! We were all mixed together on the far side of the field...everyone presented a first class attitude! Lots of cheering for both sides, no disrespect by anyone I was around. JC is and should be proud of a great fb team and a great community of support....Regarding the game: JC does bring it as stated a couple of days ago on here...the big 48 going down hurt them, but I think the game and control of the line was swinging in the Colonels favor already, JC appeared to be getting a little worn down...JC would have scored at least one more with him in there...but he would not have changed the final win loss imo...Regarding CCH: This team has earned every inch in these playoffs. I am very impressed and proud of their mental and physical toughness these past weeks...one more week!

I give up...you guys missed my post 198...if these teams played the same schedules, we could compare with a little bit of reasonable accuracy. Even that would be flawed in that things change from the beginning of a season to now, injuries that heal, adjustments that are made etc. But if you inisist on staying with this line of logic......our mascot can beat up your mascot!

The build up and the expending of anticipatory energy is a fun part of high school sports; hypothetical comparison of schedules and "would'ves" is understandable, but about as useful as discussing who's dad could beat up your dad...with that being said....my 2 cents worth: JC, from all accounts, (not just BGP reading), is more than a worthy opponent. The Colonels have nothing but respect for them. NO one in Park HIlls with their head on straight thinks their schedule or anything else is going to matter one iota come kick off Friday night. The Colonels are going into the back yard of a very good football team, with an awesome season under their belts, against a team and a program with lots of pride and tradition. CCH knows they will have to earn any success they may enjoy Friday, and they realize that it will take a full four quarters of execution and toughness to get out with a win. Having had the wonderful experience of two state championships many moons ago, I know that all bets are off relative to mental advantage. Both these teams believe they are the better team, both have fought their way to this point, both have earned the right to walk on that field expecting to win. I truly wish all the kids a night filled with injury-free excitement and lifelong memories. Soak it up! Leave it all on the field...win or lose you will get goose pimples for years to come when you think back to November 24, 2006. Go Colonels!

Haven't seen LC, but I would be surprised to find they have too much athleticism for the CC D. CC has gotten so much better as this season has prgressed...their D made HHS speed look average for the most part in both games... and Bleser is so much better at QB than when this year began. BTW, I did not know the rule regarding missed field goal attempts; ie. if it lands in the endzone, the ball is spotted on the 20...this is a very big advantage for CC...Popham can hit the endzone from almost anywhere...it's a no lose 4th down...get 3 or a thirty plus yard punt with no return....any thoughts?

I don't think that was the plan. But they did concentrate on the buildings for along time when weather was good...they are in a pickle for next season if they don't get seed down right now! Sod would be better, but it really needs time to take root too, otherwise it will be a mess by mid season...

As I drove by tonight, I noticed some new poles installed. The entire outfield from left foul pole to right foul pole has new 25' or so poles. They look like the same size as the ones behind home. I assume they are surrounding the outfield with a large net / fence. It looks like it is not the homerun fence as they are located beyond the foul poles; but it's hard to say. It looks pretty neat! I heard it was going to get lights; anybody know if that's still the plan?

At the risk of "band wagon-ing" (new word) Dicky Beal was absolutely the quickest kid I ever tried to guard...

I had originally heard no artificial turf anywhere...and the outfield definitely has sprinklers...but it's hard to tell if the sprinkler reaches the infield...so I guess that's a possiblity? They really need to hustle if the natural grass anywhere is going to be playable in the spring.

I assumed they were on the case....I don't know for sure, but I think you are referring to the smaller field where the softball team will play...they will have 210 everywhere except right field where it will be 190 with a higher fence (so I've been told). Also, the baseball foul poles don't appear to be high enough to be part of a raised fence...? I guess we'll see soon...either way, the entire campus looks great!!

I too drive by the field daily on my normal route. that entire campus is awesome now. Can't wait for baseball season! Did you happen to notice the foul poles were installed backward? I assume everybody knows it....but it drives me crazy every morning.....

At one time years ago, one of the NK teams work W.J.L.H on their t's...it stood for We Just Love to Hit....it ended when it was re-translated to We Just Lose to Highlands....it was good while it lasted...

I think that is the question. I would expect Nutini and Sainola to have decent outings; both throw in the mid 80's, and both change speeds and hit spots; Isler will be coming back from elbow surgery, if he's back, he will be one of the region's best; I think Houlihan and Bleser will be strong; the JR class has Niehaus and Wehry...I know I'm forgetting somebody. If the Colonels can get some consistency out the pitching staff; they will be a very strong squad.

Time will tell; I would expect Isler, Maile, Nutini, Holocher and Sainola to see a lot of time; Darner, VanSant, Hartmann and Shover could also make their marks; it will be interesting to see what this group actually does. Maybe not as sophs, but Jr and Sr years should be impressive if any of the speculation I've heard comes to fruition. I have seen this group play in summer ball and at the least, it is fair to say that they can help this team in 07.
