Fleming Co. Coaching Update
BogeyMan replied to I'M BACK!'s topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
A Morehead radio station is reporting this morning that Fleming County will name the coach from Tennessee at a news conference Saturday. -
Top teams in the 16th next year
BogeyMan replied to CougarsBestFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hard to disagree with that assessment. Russell has to be the early favorite in that they lose almost noone from the Regional championship team. -
Who is the Coach of the Year in the 16th region?

Give me a break Wireman. It was a tough post for me to make. -
Rose Hill vs Rowan Co. Predictions
BogeyMan replied to picknroll's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Whoever posted a Rowan win might be something funny. Rose Hill will take this agme by a bunch regardless of how well Rowan plays. They just have that much more talent. -
Russell 56 Elliott County 52
BogeyMan replied to GOREDDEVILS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Congrats to Russell on a hard fought win. If Elliott makes its free throws the whole screwed up scene at the end of the first half with the refs doesn't matter. The Lions just did not take care of business. The comeback was pretty amazing though and they should be proud of a season that went farther than anyone truly expected. -

I have never been a Mays fan, but this year give him credit. He has earned it. -
Elliott County vs Russell Predictions
BogeyMan replied to Play 2 Win's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Some Russell fans may be punching their tickets a little fast. Elliott's kids seem to keep finding a way to pull it out. I picked Russell to be in the finals before the season ever started but Elliott's got there a couple years ahead of time. Should be a great game. -
2006 Ashland Invitational
BogeyMan replied to scorekeeper's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Ashland as the host school can invite anyone they wish and place them anywhere in the bracket. Most host schools attempt to set it up so they have a good chance of reaching the finals. I too would love to see Elliott invited, but it probably won't happen anytime soon. -
Russell 44 Rowan County 37
BogeyMan replied to GOREDDEVILS's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This was a very ugly game. Nobody could make a shot. I'm still trying to decide if it was good defense or poor offense. -
Greenup County 59 Menifee County 49

He played and did not score. -
Rose Hill has far superior talent in the starting five. They must avoid foul trouble and injury. If they do no one in this region can play within 10 points of them.

Raceland Derby Classic
BogeyMan replied to Tubby's Best Friend's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The Raceland tournament was well run and organized. It also featured some top notch competition from our region as evidenced by those advancing to the regional. -
Russell vs. Rowan County Predictions
BogeyMan replied to UKCATSFAN's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Russell should win. I don't think Rowan can stop Vanhoose. Russell plays enough team defense to contain Daniel. -
What a great game. Let's not mar it by talking about this no call. It was really a non-issue. Noone has mentioned it from either side since the game except for one poster here. Ashland played good fundemental basketball and killed Elliott County on the boards. Elliott is going to have to do a better job blocking out if they want to continue to advance. The freshmen were simply not going to let this one get away. Those kids just don't quit regardless of the score. Greenup County is a physical team that will pose some matchup problems, but I believe Elliott's speed will also cause similiar problems for Greenup.

Who will be the 16th Region Tournament MVP? Why?
BogeyMan replied to UKCATSFAN's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Ferguson was unstoppable against Ashland. He could be the MVP depending on how far the team can advance. 32 for a freshman...that boggles my weak mind. -
Should Ashland and Mike Flynn part ways?
BogeyMan replied to Wireman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Flynn is an excellent coach with a lot of class. He is a credit to Ashland and the 16th Region. If the Tomcat Nation wants rid of him, I know of many schools that would love to have him. -
From my angle(mid-court, first two rows) there was no contact at all. To get that call (half-court buzzer beater) you would about have to break bones. Great win for a very young team. Ferguson took the game over like you would expect a senior star player to do, only he is a freshman. I guess one highlight is the Swami was wrong, again.

Ashland vs. Elliott Co. Predictions
BogeyMan replied to TomcatChick41's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Elliott County would be very happy with a McDavid-Weddington trade-off. Elliott has three people who can handle the ball and put it in the hole better than Weddington vs: Thomas for Ashland. Elliott still has to get over playing a team with that big "A" on their jersey. If they do, they can give Ashland a tough game. -
Greenup County 36 Russell 24

Ghosts of Randy Ward! -
Rex has earned respect with this team and with the job he has done with kids for a very long time.

Excellent assessment. I believe anyone of the top five you listed has a legitimate shot of winning, and all of them have a legitimate shot of being one and done.

West Carter 49 Morgan County 47
BogeyMan replied to I'M BACK!'s topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
McCowan only had 12 points because he stopped getting the ball. In the first half when he got it inside 10 feet he scored at will. A 6-6 post man with talent in this region is rare and should be utilized, especially in close games. Morgan usually goes to him a little more, but he was the forgotten man in this game when the game was on the line. The fact he had 14 rebounds shows a little dominance in the paint.
