  1. If Elliott plays like they did in the 1st half against East Carter it will be a close game. If they play like they did after halftime, Russell will win big.
  2. There was nobody near Faulkner on the last shot and there was no push off, just a good move by the kid. The problem is there should have been no need for a game winning shot if Elliott had taken care of business earlier in the second half.
  3. There is no red light. But, I'm sure most FANS of basketball will know where Sandy Hook is before the season is over. Elliott plays hard and if they can overcome a severe lack of an inside game they may find their way back deep into the tournament.
  4. Elliott played some very selfish ball in the second half and East started making some shots. Mays will never use his bench or develop a bench. He never has. Elliott worked the ball well in the second half but then all of a sudden for no reason a player would just throw up a shot. They allowed East to get back in the game by not playing smart and it appeared a couple of kids were more intent on stats than on taking care of business and puting the game away when they had a chance. Rebounding and interior defense became a problem and East is not a big team. Some things are going to have to change for Elliott to make the run they made last year, Weddington is greatly missed and Mays needs to work on improving his bench and giving them a chance. Some starters looked tired and a little sloppy at the end and the free throw shooting was horrible.
  5. 1. Russell 2. Greenup 3. Elliott 4. Ashland 5. Morgan 6-12 any order except 13-16 13. Lewis 14. Menifee 15. Fleming 16. Bath
  6. Rowan? Give me a break. Elliott will have a tough time getting back to the finals. Russell is a clear favorite... and no matter what you think of Ashland, they are almost always in the thick of it and they have some talent coming back with McDavid and Thomas. But, Rowan?????
  7. Russell is no doubt the team to beat. But, that bullseye can make every team play them tougher. It is always tough to repeat.
  8. He'll make more one and done than most will in a lifetime. I spoke with him after a couple of high school games and coached against him in Middle School games (when he dominated as a sixth grader). He was a gentleman on the court and after the games. I congratulate him and wish him the best.
  9. As long as Perry is the coach they will contend.
  10. A shot clock would further erode the quality of shooting in HS games. Most teams that have to stall the whole game to stay in the game will not have the talent to keep from turning it over anyway. Nothing wrong with good ball handling and scores in the fifties. I can count on one hand the number of games the past few years with scores in the twenties. Don't fix it if it aint broke.
  11. Elliott better not punch their state tournament ticket just yet. Rose Hill could cause them problems in the regional.
  12. With Euton and Jackson, Rose Hill is a contender this year and one of the favorites in the very near future (next year).
  13. Congrats to her. She was easily the most exciting and fun player to watch in our region last year.
  14. Ashland will not be the favorite in the 16th this year...that nod goes to Russell, defending champs return everybody.
  15. Daniels, Wolfenbarger and Haney may be a little overrated. The Faulkners and Blair will probably use this list as a motivational tool.
  16. I would certainly wish him well!
  17. Greene is strong, but not as polished as Weddington and he has a hard time staying out of foul trouble. Mays will wish he had developed a bench.
  18. Trusty will be a good AD, but I think Perry will miss him if he is no longer to be the assistant coach as well.
  19. Russell is clearly the team to beat. Elliott will find it tough to replace Weddington's physical play inside and rebounding. Lokk ou for Rose Hill. They have some youngsters that can play, bu they may need another season of experience.
  20. Ashland: Please don't hire someone like Perry, Baker or Hampton from one of the "lesser" schools. The rest of the region would be in trouble.
  21. I guess now that Flynn's gone, Ashland moves to Number1 in the region!! Seriously, you Tomcat backers may miss him. He was knowledgable and a class act.
  22. Good choice. It would seem to assure that West Carter will have a solid program in the future that the kids will want to be a part of.
  23. 1. Russell--everybody back from champs 2. Elliott--sophs will be fun, but but replacing Weddington not easy 3. Ashland--always tough at tourny time...3 top players 4. Morgan--unproven talent, but Perry's worth a top 5 every time 5. Pick'em--but Rose Hill may not be far off
