Cards survive a close one. They were down 12 at half. Richie Phares had to sit out most of the third quarter. Chad Jackson fouled out early in the 4th quarter. Barksdale is as good as any player in the state. 46 total fouls called in the game.Scott Co. shot 43% to Tates Creek 53%.

So what does that say about Scott County? Phares has a bad game and they still should have beat a top 10 team in the nation. No team in the state of KY has close to what Duncanville had inside, except Scott County.:thumb:

Scott County is very unselfish. All these boys love playing together and are team first. This is a very close team. If Scott County gets beat it wont be because they are not team players.

There is a little difference between Beechwood and Ballard. However nobody ever gets crowned after the first week of games. Every team has to improve to win it in March.

I figured they were not on espn, but it would have been good exposure. However the Scott County game has been moved to 9:00. There was an ad in the Georgetown paper today that had 9:00 game time. As well as the Scott Co. website has the same time.

Two years in a row that Scott Co. has been on national television. Lets hope this game is closer than the game last year. Either way pretty good exposure for a Kentucky high school. Also the game will be at 9:00. Marshall County officials moved the game to 9:00 for TV.

Here is what Chris Renner had to say about Richie Phares. "I think he's probably the best player in the state," Ballard Coach Chris Renner said. "I don't see enough of (Madisonville's Jon) Hood, but I love what Richie does. "He's so good inside but he can also step outside, and he has a great court demeanor. I think he's the glue to that team."

It was a game, that just watching it made you tired. It was very fast paced and some what sloppy. But as fast as the pace was it wasnt as sloppy as it could have been.

Scott County won the rebounding 60-41. Scott County shot 49.3% to Ballards 33.8% Scott County had 26 turnovers to Ballards 22 Richie Phares was as dominant a player that I have ever seen put on the Scott Co. uniform tonight. Tamron Manning should be starting, for a freshman he played great. Euton had a solid game as well as Gelawn. Jackson struggled at times but Ballards pressure defense will do that to you. Great start for the Cards!:thumb:

Is Covington Catholic that down, that most are predicting a 15-20 point defeat? Im not so sure Lex Cath can beat anybody on their schedule by 20 much less a school that traditionally has a good basketball team. Sure Sanford and Boytkins are good players but you have to put five on the floor and those other three players are very inexperienced.

I expect a close game. It will all depend on how Scott County handles Ballards full court press. If they can handle it, this game could get out of hand for Ballard. Alot like last time they came to Georgetown.

Yes. They will be one of the favorites.

I think you have Guyn and Jackson confused.

Guyn looked very good in the intrasquad scrimmage and it appears it spilled over into last night. You can really tell he has worked very hard on his shooting. It sounded like a good first time out for the cards, cant wait for the season to start.

It has nothing to do with home court advantage. I have season tickets that are second row center court. It is purely for my own selfish reasons.

Dont forget Scott Counties two best players Phares and Guyn!:thumb: Waterboy- What are they doing with season ticket holders tickets for this game? Do they get in at Memorial with that ticket? I wish they would leave it in Georgetown. I would have left the game in Georgetown.

Saw Ivey last night at Meet the Cards and was very impressed with him. Scott County has to have two of the best freshman in the state. I know Manning will play alot , I think he will be starting sooner rather than later. And after seeing Ivey I would have to believe he would get some playing time this year as well. Scott Co. looked very good last night. Gelawn was the biggest suprise. His shot has really improved. If he can shoot like he did last night, he could possibly be their best player.

Scott Co. vs. Lexington Catholic is always very heated. If you are a fan of the Cards you always want to beat them more than anyone else.

If they go through the year and only lose two to three games and go to the sweet 16 I would be happy. I just found it very funny that another poster said that he sees a few holes in the lineup. When most people on here has at least three sometimes four Scott Co. players on Preseason All State lists. Would you take Pittman and Johnson over Phares and Guyn. I believe that is a better comparison Scotts best vs. Holmes best. Another thing people forget is they have the best coach on the bench.
