I thought the key to the comeback for Duncanville in the 4th was the denial of the imbounds to Chad Jackson. He basically handled the pressure on his own, and when he didn't have it in his hands, they turned it over. Terrific showing though. I thought that SC had this one in the bag with 2 min. remaining.

Good game SC clearly showed you are a top twenty team in the nation. Congrats!

Duncanville captures the mo in OT, jumps on SC to win 77 - 71

 

All in all, not a bad showing by Scott County against a nationally ranked preseason #1 opponent.

 

A win would have been big, but this will definitely be a good learning experience for the Cards.

SC shot only 31.2% from the field and only 19% from three point range. Having Phares in foul trouble and sitting for at least 1.5 quarters didn't help at all. I thought a couple of the fouls he picked up in the 1st Q were questionable... but, I'm not wearing the stripes. Phares is a huge factor for the Cards, and probably the difference between a W and the result tonight.

 

Rebounding was 58-52 in favor of Duncanville. Again, not a bad showing with Phares playing only about 2.5 quarters of regulation. Euton had 4 more rebounds than any player on either team.

 

Looking at the line ups before the game I thought SC would do well to keep the margin under 20. D'ville went 6' 11", 6' 7", 6' 7", 6' 5" and 6' 1" to SCs 6' 8", 6' 8", 6' 4", 6' 2" and 6' 1".

 

I'm not a big fan of moral victories, but this was definitely a good one. :thumb:

Elliott County can play with any team in the state and nation.

 

Without Phares last week, it's a good thing they didn't play EC, cause EC would have won hands down. With Phare's it would be a very exciting game.

8 points for Phares? I just watched the game and looks like if you put a good big man on him he'll struggle. Nice showing for SC but in the end Duncanville was the better team and they showed why they're #1 in the nation.

I think based on the what I've read on here, Oak Hill Academy is #1 in the Nation now.

After the D'ville loss to them yesterday.

Elliott County is a nice little mountain team. However, I don't see them seriously competing with Scott County, a few more in Kentucky, or the better teams at Myrtle Beach. They may do well against the locals like Socastee, NMB, and MB but those teams are usually just for local flavor to bring out the crowds.

And Madisonville has a top 25 team or so don't they? They have the #1 player in the state and Elliott won both those game's with east with over 20 pt wins in both.

 

Did you watch the tournament at Inez, KY where Scott Co. played that WV team.

Scott won the first half, but WV won the second and didn't look near as impressive as EC did.

I think SC may be the greatest team ever assembled in the state of KY. Not only do they have talent, but they seem to play well together. Good passing team. Run their plays and pass well. Euton, Jackson, Guyn have all improved from last year.

 

Only real negative I saw, was Jacksons play. Although he has improved and is very good, he seems to want to dominate the ball. This happened last year at Rose Hill, which is understandable considering it was him and Euton. But with all this other talent, they have got to get the ball to Phares and Euton more down low.

 

Personally, I am not a SC fan, but you got to admire what this team will be.

I suspect that a 6' 11" Baylor recruit, a couple of ticky-tack fouls early in the first half and a team with at least 7 other DI recruits might have that effect on any player in the state of Kentucky. Phares played a great game for the time he was able to stay on the floor.

Scott County has just played a top team in the country to overtime and nearly won. They also beat Ballard by 20.

 

Jeffersontown won the 7th region last year and adds Cosby to a lineup that only loses one player.

 

Manual won the LIT and finished 3rd in the KOB. Has already defeated one top 15 team and is now 2-0.

 

Bryan Station hammered Holmes. Holmes was preseason #2.

An excellent way to show Kentucky is improving. Scott County certainly let it be known they could play even if Phares didn't play well tonight. Great showing.
