  1. I think that was only part of it. Like I said earlier, I doubted that this was the primary factor, but believe it played a part in it. But I also know that it had nothing to do with NL thinking they would get 'hammered'. After all, PC was supposed to 'hammer' them last season. I am still shocked that PC is still that upset about losing to little ole North Laurel, a team that had rarely ever beaten them at the varsity level. Especially considering how PC finished the season as district and region champs!
  2. He is one of those kids that NL needs to be competitive.
  3. :ohbrother: And PC was supposed to 'hammer' NL this past season, but we all saw what happened there. That was the talk coming from our county line neighbors from the west before the game. Fact is it is over, let's move on and may both teams, have a great season in 2010! And actually, the article was not entirely accurate. NL and PC did take a few years off before. I know they did not play each other in 2003-2004-2005-2006.
  4. I do understand and respect your feelings on the matter. I believe it had been quite some time since NL had beaten PC on the varsity level. In fact, I think it had been a few years since they had even played each other. The last time I remember was in the CVB when Draughn was still playing for PC. I don't think the players for either team were the issue. The negativity is running between the administrations and some fans. I personally think that a few years off from playing each other may not be a bad thing. I don't believe that is why the game has been cancelled, but I believe is must have been a factor. There was trash talking about NL before the game and it got worse afterwards. Reading some of the comments on here, whether it is from players or parents reinforces my belief that these teams should not play each other for a while, unless they were to happen to meet in the playoffs. I guess I am confused how 1 loss in arguably the best overall season PC has had in football could eat away at somebody so much. As far as who NL will play, I am not sure. I hope to find out soon, but haven't heard for sure who they might be playing, .. if they are going away from the Week 0 and giving up a bye week, etc. I do think they will probably need to pick up at LEAST a 5A team if not a 6A team to replace a quality team like PC on their schedule. But that's just my opinion on the matter. Good luck to PC next year, ... now back to what this thread is supposed to be about, what NL can do to improve next season.
  5. Will the new coach, whether it be Browne or someone else, get to play a full slate of 10 games this year?
  6. Shame that Bell County didn't just lay down for them. :idunno: Boyle County won the game, and deservedly so. But Bell County is not some podunk program, ... they are solid. Boyle beat one heck of a team, ... whether you want to give Bell any credit or not.
  7. I think Coach Carter is doing a good job. What the Generals need is more time to get in the weightroom work and have more kids to learn the fundamentals of the game. They just started little league this past fall and a middle school program in the past few years. It will take a few years for those kids to filter into the program. Then you will see some big leaps forward for the program. With a new program and up until recently, no feeder program, it takes time. But I thought with a tougher schedule, Jackson County did improve this past season under Carter and they will continue to do so. I saw them twice and what impressed me the most is that they don't quit. That will be crucial to their growth as a program.
  8. Actually, I think it was Lincoln County that lost that game by forfeit due to the swine flu. Garrard offered to move their game around to help. But I see your point.
  9. NL earned that win, whether you like it or not. I know that there were some NL losses where I felt they should have won, but they didn't. No excuses, the other team made the plays to win the game and NL didn't, end of story. Same from this game. NL made the plays they had to make to win the game and nothing will change that. PC ended up winning the region, but this loss still angers you that much? Enjoy your district & region titles, ... first in school history and prepare for this fall to defend those titles. I have mixed emotions on seeing this game cancelled, but its not my call. If after arguably the best season in PC's history they are still that angry about this loss, and after all that was said on and off the record, I do believe that a few years off from playing each other may be a good thing. If they both make the playoffs and meet each other then, so be it.
  10. EKU is getting a good one. Good to see him stay in state!
  11. It is being shown on WYMT TV in Hazard. Not sure about the online updates.
  12. One of the winningest coaches in KHSAA history (was #1 on the last list). You can't do much better than that!!! I wish him the best, ... he deserves it after the years he put in molding young men.
  13. With all the bad blood from last year's game and some of the things that were said on and off the record, this may be a very good thing for both teams.
  14. I have no idea why. This past season's game was a tremendous game to watch. I am surprised and don't know the reason. Anything I say is just speculation. I know that the game was picked up before Larkey was hired. Maybe he doesn't want to play a game in week 0. I am really at a loss on this one. I am sure that there is a good reason, but right now, I have no idea what it is.
  15. Some parents sure seem to have the uncanny ability to taint a kid's high school years.
  16. I agree. I forgot about Shears practicing for the Border Bowl this week. As soon as they learn to finish, NL could be a darkhorse.
  17. I have no idea. I haven't seen anything on next year's schedule.
  18. North must have given them quite a game. Where was the game played?
  19. You can always convert those onto DVD if you like.
  20. This could get very interesting indeed.
  21. I can't get the link to open without an error.
  22. I work for it, but based on what I charge, my wife thinks it is more volunteer work! I do enjoy helping the kids, but it is part of my side business, video production. I would be glad to answer any questions thru PM. I have helped many kids by just answering questions (some on here) on what they could do if they have the ability & time to do it for themselves. I only charge if I actually produce something tangible for them.
