The Dragon D will be a "lot" stiffer than Evarts. Somerset is a scoring machine. The Dragon offense was much improved last night. At least there is no mystery to who will play for the regular season championship of our district. Of course Harlan has to beat Pineville. Who does Somerset have left in the district?

Great game for 3 quarters. Wburg O line much better than advertized. Root is the real deal also. Wouldn't be surprised to have a rematch in the playoffs. Hats off to all the players.

Evarts, Cumberland, and Cawood in Harlan County each have one more year. Looks like the stage is set for a Somerset/Harlan matchup for the district championship. Somerset will be favored, but the Dragons will have their say. Could even play twice! Lordy ain't football grand?!

You really think Williamsburg can put up better numbers on Harlan than Breathitt County? Harlan's D is number 5 or 6 in the state in points allowed.

I think Harlan's pass D has improved enough that coupled with some pressure on the QB, will keep the score lower than most think. The big question remains, is the Harlan offense progressing? I think the answer is yes, and I'll crawl out on a big limb and say Harlan 24 Wburg 12

Obviously you've never been a visitor during a game there. The bleachers are rickety, The visitors side is poorly lit, and there aren't enough bleachers to seat everyone if you bring a crowd. Very inhospitable too. Last year, they refused to allow our film crew to film fron the box. Sitting amongst the opposing team may be an attempt to intimidate, but all it does is show poor sportsmanship on the fans part, reflecting on the team. And if they do sit there, they deserve everything they hear. Most schools in our district treat visitors very well, couple places dont. Its an issue of class.

Cumberland/Harlan is a rivarly in county game that is always competitive. Comparing by that game doesn't tell you much about Harlan being able to hang with the Briar Jumpers. But, its not worth an arguement. The kids will decide it on the field. The Jumpers certainly have a talented group of kids and are well coached. However, overconfidence can beat you, so again, don't count Harlan out.

Over reacting a bit aren't we? Seems to be your mission, but anyway, Rosscoph got his yards, around end except for the big busted play. A great back will do that. The big O line was whipped in the middle all night. The Dragon D bent but only broke once. Luck is very relative. I don't buy the luck part. Don't you think the guys meant to block that punt? Of course they did, they took advantage of the opportunity. Otherwise, why rush the kicker?Interception luck? Of course not, good defense, unless Breathitt was "lucky" with theirs that beat the Green Machine. Why not just let them catch it. Come on. I think you are trying to motivate, but its coming across negative like I commented last week. You seem sort of knowledgable, but you are lacking perspective. Stats are great, winning is better. I agree that young guys sometimes come across cocky, but some times us "old" guys run the risk of having tunnel vision and getting cynical. Also, you were insulting with the math comment. That wasn't any more grown up than the young man's comments. That type of comment may cause YOUR comments to be disregarded.

I think we were predicting Somerset and Williamsburg. But looking forward to what is likely to be the District Championship Game, I think the jury is still out. The Dragons can tackle and are defensively very good. The Briar Jumpers won't get as many TDs as they are used to. Question is can the Harlan offense continue to improve to the point that they can take advantage of the opportunities the D gives them. I say they can, and it will be a very close low scoring affair worthy of a Championship game. Looking forward to seeing how the Jumpers faire the rest of the season, esp with Lynn Camp with the run and the Burg with the pass. It ain't over till its over. Don't count Harlan out.

The KHSAA, in a rather ludicrous move, denied his eligibility. If he stays in Harlan he will play for the Harlan ( Independent) Green Dragons next season.

Middlesboro and Harlan is usually a very competitive game. Harlan doesn't roll over for them, and won't this year or any year. They play Harlan because its good local competition. Harlan plays the Jackets because its good to play good competition. These schools are 50 miles apart. It makes sense for them to play. And how could you say Lynn Camp was padding schedule? The issue everyone is trying to get to can't be resolved by team bashing. Its fine to argue the point, but goodness!!!!!!!!!! The only folks who know the why's and hows are in the YMT studios.
