That "ridiculous kickoff", is a play where the #1 desired outcome (planned), is to bounce the ball off a front line player and recover the ball. Of course it doesn't happen often, but Harlan performed it to perfection twice last year. Harlan came back on Cumberland and beat them, second year in a row. Before that it had been 4 years. The Redskins always put a quality team on the field. I think as I've said before, that their team discipline needed work, as they were heavily penalized with personal fouls, and unsportsmanship penalties. The major offender will be I suppose graduating, so hopefully they will be a more disciplined team next year. Reynolds is a good coach. By the way Harlan beat all Harlan County Teams 2 years in a row. That is rarely done.

you need to look at your big "get a grip" post CBP, when criticizing my sarcasm. Perhaps if you hadn't been so "in your face" in that posting, I wouldn't have reacted with dripping sarcasm. You have posted some thoughtful postings. I suggest you continue that trend. I'm also sorry you were not entertained.

As far as that goes, you could go way deep into that staff and not come up with a Mr. Saylor, one way or the other, if you take my meaning!

OK, here is how it could happen: This is a fantasy now, so don't get all tore up. Summer of 2008, no site based council yet appointed for new high school. In absence of site based council, Superintendent appoints Coach. Saylor resigns as Superintendent, handing over reigns to handpicked successor, who appoints him head Coach. Again, pure crazy fantasy, or is it?

Time will tell. If he did, can you imagine Tim and Coach Perry as a team? All is speculation, however, some of my rumour mill are pretty close. For now Cawood has a great new coach for their last year.

:scared: Seriously CBP, I have said nothing about any other kids. You obviously have another agenda other than my posts. I am not bashing YMT either, just that in general, Linemen get overlooked. If you were a lineman, you might understand. If you are, I'm on your side. Just trying to make the point that these guys don't get the pub they deserve. I'm still against anyone picking a whole "team" because its expediant. Why don't they pick a whole Offense? You know why, because they always get all the pub. Now guess what? You need to get a grip. I'll express my opinion without getting personal, now you need to learn to also. Again, and to be clear, I'm not bashing anyone, but kids who are deserving get left out when folks make "lists" to honor certain catergories of players. Why can't we all get along? Coaches need to put "team" ahead of talent and not allow "talent" to throw tantrums on the field, and cost their team yards due to stupid "sportsmanship" penalties.

Lets put the unsaid out there that Tim Saylor fully intends to be the 1st Head Coach of the Black Bears, according to many many County School insiders. Maybe with Coach Perry as defensive Coordinator. You guys can elaborate on that thought.

Miss me Waggle? Anyway, I'm not that surprised. Coach Perry has a young family and has to look at the future. from that perspective also. Harlan City just doesn't have much to offer financially to an assistant coach, and I'm sure the Cawood job is a positive in that way. Its time for Eric, and with JB prob. set for about 3 more years at Harlan, he needs to take opportunities as they come as we all do professionally. And I disagree that this is going to hurt the Dragons as much as you think. Coach Shope has had a couple years of discipling from Eric and with his own positive ideas, promises to be an up and comer. The coming year is going to be a tough one for the Big Green anyway from a personel point of view, so will be hard to judge. I know that the Dragon D owes a lot to Coach Perry. He will be missed, but come Rax Bowl......sorry Eric. Go Big Green Beat Trojans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have resisted further comment, but what the heck, I'll say it. Harlan had 2-3 players on defense who could have easily been on the list as well as anyone, and maybe someone on offense. The same could be said for others I'm sure. My gripe isn't WYMT doing a poor job, they don't. Their coverage is excellent. They just simply shouldn't as I said before, coaches do it, radio/paper guys do it. They just simply ignore individual linemen. I know couple juniors on Harlan's team, who whipped some of the "top" O line folks in this and other lists.

The only returning receiver who saw playing time last year will be (senior) Bradford Marsili. He has great hands, can jump very well, has good speed (he's no Jon Cole, but how often do you see a kid as fast as him), and he's a hard worker. Other receivers will be Josh Johnson (senior), Eric Robinson (sophomore), Josh Ball (sophomore), and possibly a few from this year's freshmen class. Chase Jones (senior) will return as the starting quarterback, the running back slot will more than likely be shared between Hunter Luttrell (senior), Josh Johnson (senior), Jonathan Heck (senior), and Donhavan Middleton (sophomore). The line will feature: Westley Howard (senior), Aaron Jones (senior), Jacob Cole (senior), and more than likely Evan Dugger (sophomore), and James "Bobby" Hill (sophomore). On defense, the dragons only return 3 starters: Josh Johnson (LB), Westley Howard (DT), and Aaron Jones (DT). Players who will probably be on the field for defense will be Jonathan Heck (DE), Kenny Pennington (LB), Jacob Cole (LB), Bradford Marsili (S), Chase Jones (S), and the corner back slot will be open for anybody. As you can tell, the dragons have lost ALOT with the senior class, however, Coach Donahue always brings the most out of what he has to work with. Good luck dragons!

I thought the show was another great effort from WYMT, however the picking of entire offensive and defensive lines is just another symptom of the neverending disease of these individuals getting overlooked. Radio folks do it. Coaches do it. Newspaper folks do it. These guys just don't get the recognition they deserve. IMO anytime you are picking a all-anything team, you should take the time to pick linemen individually. They are as much a part of the game as the pardon my sick stomach at this term "skilled" players. Without them the big QB/RBs wouldn't get squat. So I would just ask the folks at YMT, which I thing a lot of, to buck this trend and give the big guys the same credit you do the "pub players" next year.

All our hopes for a speedy recovery from Dragonland for the injured boys. Prayers for the family of the one that didn't make it. And for you Ramblin' Man.

I'll prob. get some flack from this, but at least this poll recognized Harlan as a better team than Hazard or Pikeville this year. Mountain top 10 for instance ended up with both above Harlan simply because of their finish in the playoffs. Had Somerset not been in Harlan's district, Harlan would most likely have been the Regional champ in Region 4. I'm not much on polls, but in this instance, they got it right.

Hunter is their running back! He was out most of the season, but now back, and making a diff. with the run threat.

Look for Hunter to help the Jumpers sneak up on NCC. I'll take the Jumpers in a nail biter 32-31

If Cole doesn't get you, Hunter will, If Hunter doesn't, the other recievers will, heck if Deaton can't do anything else, he will run. Too many weapons.

It is an independent school just like Harlan.
