And as far as your assessment of Vic, you obviously were not at this year's Bowling Green (MVP) or Highland's (again MVP) games, or last year's John Hardin, Lex. Cath or Bowling Green games. And according to his coach, he can carry the team on his back, in fact, Glaser has been quoted as saying so.

I believe WVU is aware of his hesitation to sign, especially when he changed to a "soft verbal" and has not given a "solid" since. WVU has been pursuing additional RBs, most prominent Noel Devine, who may/may not go to prep 1st year but WVU thereafter.

No, I do not know that! But I do know, I believe in assesments of football experts from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Rivals.com.

With a couple of exceptions, most of his friends and supporters, including the Barrett's, with whom he has lived since his sophomore year, believe Vic would have a better overall college experience, including a good football career, if he would stay closer to home. Hopefully, with all the breaking of coaches written contracts, Vic will not be pressured into keeping his verbal to WVU or made to feel guilty if he wishes to change his mind.

Congratulations Victor! Also congrats to Vic on being one of Rivals.com 1,000 top recruits, Southeast region. Southeast region included 279 of the 1000 including the following 5 from KY: Anderson (RB), Slusher (TE), Hines (OL), Shepherd (OL), and Minnifield (DB). Congratulations to all and good luck in your futures. Also, Joker Phillips (UK) was named one of the top 25 recruiters for 2006. Congrats Joker!

Allow me to correct Vic's overall stats: Anderson: 22 TDs rushing, 1 TD receiving, 1 TD other (KOR), 2-2pt Conv, avering 11.5ypc for the year Moreover, Vic's stats were racked up when playing, unarguably, the toughest schedule in the state (playing more opponents ranked in the state's top 10 than any other team's schedule), Male's schedule was not rated as tough, nor did they play as many top rated teams. The BCS considers Strength Of Schedule in 8 of their 9 criteria when determining rankings. Further, SOS seems to be of higher importance than an "overall contributer" player, otherwise certain top "do all" players from 1A and 2A would be receiving a lot more consideration than they do currently. And, as previously stated, comparing Beaumont vs St. X, to Anderson vs Male, has no common component to compare, they each played different opponents, however, that game did prove Male to be the stronger team. (FWIT, in the quarter finals, Anderson did rush for 127 yards in 16 carries against Male, the states #1 defense.) I believe Beaumont is a well deserving candidate, as are others, I am emphasizing Anderson repeatedly had to rack up his stats against stronger competition and as SOS is of vital importance in rankings, Vic gets my support.

I don't have all Beaumont's or Anderson's stats, but to compare as runningbacks, below is each of their rushing stats against common opponents: To make a viable comparison a statistical analysis needs to have a common component (in this case a common opponent) therefore, I have not listed stats when each played different repspective opposition, as those stats would not have the common component for comparison. I, too, witnessned this. This, special needs young man was kneeling down mid-field, distraught. Vic approched him, helped him to his feet, and the two remained in a bear hug for 10 minutes. The next day, I told Vic I was very proud of him for consoling "Bryan" when I knew he (Vic), had to have felt so bad, himself, from the loss. Bryan had said to Vic "I'm going to miss you so much, Vic." to which Vic replied "I"m going to miss you too, Buddy. But I'll come back and see you, I promise." When all Vic probably wanted to do was cry himslef (as did I), it took a tremendous amount of strength to put Bryan's needs first and an unbelievable spirit to be able to comfort someone else at that time. I found the moment heartwrenching but also uplifting. Vic has had a lot to adjust and juggle over the last few years and he has done so very well, especially considering he does not have the foundation and previous experiences to draw from, as most of our children have had. Vic is not perfect, none of us are, and sometimes his high spirit has gotten the best of him, but he has made the honor roll at St. X, 6 of the last 7 quarters, and is kind and generous and has had to endure a lot of unwarranted critisism. FYI, Vic gave away his cleats to kids who were asking for them on Little Tiger Night, this lead to the wearing of his yellow cleats (which he had gotten for soccer). BTW, he also gave away another pair of cleats, to requesting kids, his last game. Xtiger, I'm glad your daughter was witnessed to this touching moment, and I hope we all can be inspired to reach out to others. Thank you for bringing it to this forum.

Then why do you start threads like this? I recall another controversial thread attempt surrounding St. X and Victor Anderson you started in June "Is this a First Down or Not". That thread was closed abruptly when posters started "going where you didn't think they should". So appears you can dish it out (especially at a teenager), but .... .

Yes, you're right, there's a story behind those shoes, and it has nothing to do with "Look at Me". Again, I agree, he has a tremendous amount of school and team spirit (he repeatedly gives others credit in his interviews after games) and I find it shameful X, T and other adults are so trivial.

When in doubt, they say don't. And you shouldn't have this time. It appears petty and suspicious coming from a X grad who son is at T. Vic, didn't wear those shoes for attention, he gets plenty of that. In fact he most of what he wears is reported somewhere on some board, as is this. He liked his shoes, that's it, he doesn't need to wear certain shoes to prove himself, he proves himself repeatedly with his playing ability. But it's doubtful he'll wear thoses shoes again because of all the attention. I, too, liked the shoes, (never thought I'd agree with LSURock). Vic is very spirited and enthusiastic and I also like that about him. I'm not saying I agree with everything he says and does, but you, nor I, have the right to try to squash his spirit or vigor. Talk to players, coaches or even his teachers about his team loyalty and St. X allegiance. (I bet his sons will go to X). I do agree it might have given a visual advantage to the opponents defense.

Last year has nothing to do with winning our last game this year. If we win this year's last game, then we've won the state championship, otherwise we've lost our last game. That's the reality of it, nothing more, nothing less.

Well, their goal is to not only get there, but to win the title game. Thus, this year's theme words "last game" was taken from a motivational incentive given to the players which is to "WIN OUR LAST GAME". The players are playing forward to this years ending, and certainly are not continuing to reminisce about last years Trinity game. Enough already with your misinterpretation of "last game".

Everytime he touches the ball, the crowd jumps to its feet. I've never really seen anything like that out of a HS kid. There's really no build-up to get to full speed... he gets hit, loses his stride, and is back at full speed in 2 steps. He was VERY impressive, far "out-athleticisizing" (if I may) every player on the field with a variety of spin moves, jukes, stiff arms, etc, and his speed is outstanding... he has a running style and ability to electrify the crowd every single time he touches the ball. If you get a chance to see him, you should take advantage of it and go. Actually, they have him listed as the 5th best All-Purpose Back in the country, if anyone is looking it up by position rankings. Great Honor for a Great Athlete. Hopefully he'll reconsider his verbal to UWV. Last weeks injury, thankfully not as serious as originally thought, may have brought to his attention an inner need to stay closer to home.

St. X is the visiting team this year. (They were home team last year although they did relinquished the home team rights in 2005.)

I agree, it was about money. If the game was a "no contest", cancelled completely, or moved to a smaller, undersized facility, refunds would have been demanded. Declaring it an official game no one, now, is entitled to a refund.
