Keep in mind CCH plays the toughest or atleast one of the toughest schedules year in and out.

I don't put much into what CalPreps has to say. I think last year they predicted CCH to beat LaSalle by 4 TD's. But anyways, the birds will reload as usual and wouldn't be surprised if they are the best in the state, atleast for now.

They're returning two starters with Mack Malloy and Lee Schatsman. Who the third lineman will be I wouldn't wanna guess at, but those two with their size, strength, and most importantly their speed should be giving offenses trouble all year.

In games like these where both teams have the most talented players, coaching is everything. For that reason I am not surprised by this outcome at all.

Deglow is a very similar runner as Deters. He's more likely to run people over rather than make a move and go around them. CovCath is lacking the type of quick finesse back they have had the last few years like both the Buckley's, Furnish, and Brandon Brown.

Will Deters, the third leading rusher from last year, will be the go to guy in the backfield. The question marks for the Colonels right now are the two slot positions.

I think silly would be an accurate description because it's supposed to be taken as a joke. I highly doubt that any CovCath fan honestly believes that God should be giving them an advantage in the game.

I think eventually the whole "God's on our side" theory will have to come true for the Colonels. Not to say Holmes hasn't earned their victories by any means, but for whatever reason CovCath can't seem to catch just 1 point worth of breaks to get a victory. That being said I think the Colonels will win this for one reason. They're due.

I think Patrick VanSant for CovCath will definately be a stud next year. This will be his third year starting at linebacker and he saw some good time at tight end last year too, but he'll have the position to himself this year. The kid honestly might not leave the field this year. Also Seth Tepe will be a force to be reckoned with as the anchor of a CovCath o-line that only loses one from last year. He's having a heck of an offseason right now, so he'll be back bigger and stronger than he already was last year.

First of all whether you want to hear it or not with the talent Coach L has had over the years he should have been much more successful than he has been. Seeing as you don't want to hear that I will move on to my other points. Coach L has single handedly driven away great players who undoubtedly would have helped the team (think Brett Sutton as an example). There are also many athletes who are currenly at the school or who have transferred to other schools that I'm not going to mention who would help the program but didn't becasue of Coach L's handling of situations. (Don't think this is sour grapes either because I never played.) You can't put the best five players on the court if you don't have the best 15 or so on your roster. Another point which others have already brought up is Coach Maile and Coach Schrand leaving as a result of Coach L. Many, many players who I've talked to that were coached by all three have said Maile and Schrand are better coaches than Listerman. This leads me to my next point. You can ask anyones opinion on this subject and you'll get a wide variety of answers, but honestly what it comes down to is what the players who play under Coach L think. And if you talk to the players most of them will even tell you their unhappiness with coach L. It wouldn't be a good idea to mention current players but past players will tell you that he brought negativity and caused a lot of dissent among the team. And my final point is this. You and I both know that there are many times in your mind you can think of that he made bad choices in his in-game coaching. And yeah I know it's easy for me to point out his mistakes, because I'm not the one that has the pressure of making those decisions. However there are some mistakes that are inexcusable. One of these times that stick out in my mind is the "play" he called on the last possession of the game against Holmes last year. He didn't even give his players a chance at winning. With all of that honestly I think Coach L leaving would be one of the best things that could happen to the CovCath basketball program. Maybe they can get a coach that matches the talent of the players they have year in and year out.

Team Shouse has a devastating defeat to team Frekking in today's businessman special at 1:30. The loss once again dips the team below .500 however the team is not worried because there is a simple explanation for the team's sloppy play. Six of the seven players who were at the game for Team Shouse had just returned from a retreat late Sunday night. They were both emotionally and physically drained. As team leader Danny Niehaus said after the game, "I was strait cashed after one trip down the floor." This team has a lot of spirit and will recover fine next week.

This is not the same CovCath team that started the season 9-1. It is amazing the difference one player can make because the Colonels are 2-4 since Chris Bondick got hurt. Once this team gets back to full strength they will be a championship contender.

In the senior division Team Furnish has the glass pedestal they were put on shattered. Because of a lack of players they were forced to play with no subs which cost them the game. With about 5 minutes to play they had a player foul out and then with 2 minutes to play John Tibbs was ejected from the game. This left them with only 3 players and the rules state you need atleast 4 on the floor so despite their 3 point advantage the game goes down in the books as a loss. Team Shouse gets their record to .500 as they edge out a 58-54 win with Danny Niehaus leading the way with 30.

Let's turn these intramurals into intermurals. Covcath league champs versus Highlands league champs??

Week two of IBL and there are some games tonight that could set a tone for the rest of the season. First either team Shouse or team Wehry will be knocked down to 0-2 (most likely team Wehry). Also after barely squeaking out a victory in week one can team Furnish get another W to remain as the current favorite?

Way to shift the focus to security which there was plenty of seeing as there were two county sheriffs there. And I'm not trying to dwell on this just thought it was something that needed to be talked about. There's plenty to talk about with the game as well. I hope to see these teams play when Bondick is healthy. He would make all the difference.

I think saying the entire Highlands community should be ashamed was a bit too much, but it does give a bad name to the Highlands community. I have seen CovCath behave after big wins and they've never done anything as bad as what those students did. Storming the court and talking some trash after a win is understandable and even somewqhat expected. It was the complete violence and chaos that happened out in the parking lot that is being referred to. I would give specifics but it would break a BGP rule about discussing illegal acts by minors.

The game was great and exciting even though the Colonels couldn't pull it out. It was unfortunate that the Highlands student section had to tarnish their players great efforts with the way they acted after the game.

From what I have heard, Covington Catholic is 8-0 in the NKAL (Northern Kentucky Academic League) and anchored by a core group of seniors most notably with returning leading scorer and MVP Tommy Simendinger and defending state champion in Social Studies Alex Knipper. Is it going to be possible for anyone to stop this dynamic duo???

This will be the first game all season with CovCath's entire group of skill players in tact. Buckley came back two weeks ago against Elder and wideout Matt Klare and wideout/tight end Jake Punch will also be back this week. Also quarterback Zach Isler is fine after missing last week against Holmes. It took a while but the Colonels are finally almost completely over the injury bug that plagued them all year. Knock on wood for the rest of the season.
