I would say it's between Maile and Farris for the 3A-4A schools, and Elliot should be a no doubter in the 1A-2A run.

Can't recall the overall record, but something like 29-8. Not too bad if i say so.

It seems you are placing blame in areas beyond his control. Year to year, talent is subject to whatever you get. What is done with the talent is on the coach. I do believe that Boone has been talented the last couple of years, and haven't had much success. You also need to look at the teams that had success in the years they didn't(Cov Cath and Beechwood). Once again, i don't know where you get the info about your players that decided not to come back, but easily putting it, NOT A LOSS!!!

First of all, where do you get catchers being coverted when they get to the majors. Name one... That's the craziest thing i've ever heard. Catchers usually covert to other positions for their off days from behind the plate. As for Farris, I know the family and no scout that has ever showed interest has said anything about him not being a catcher. In every showcase he has participated in, he has been in the catching position, and has played very little outfield. So, I really don't know where this info is coming from... check the source.

Two players mentioned never had significant impact on team when they played. Spalding chose to run track this year and as for fitzgerald, not sure, but isn't a significant loss. So not sure what your source is...:confused:

Brad Ausmus 5’11 190; Johnny Estrada 5’11 215; Jason Kendall 6’0 205(and I do believe this guy likes to steal bases, and has batted lead off numerous times throughout his career); Jason Larue 5’11 205; Paul Lo Duca 5’10 185; Yadier Molina 5’11 225; Miguel Olivo 6’0 220; Ivan Rodriguiz 5’9 195 (considered top catcher in the major numerous years), I’m just not seeing your point. These are just a few catchers, of many, that are under your size requirement that have had great success.

Tell me this oldguy... If Farris is so incapable of playing behind the plate then why is it that the Midland Redskins have acquired him as their #2 catcher. He will also play outfield as well. And i for sure can't wait to check out this Maile kid, because the way that everybody speaks of him you would think that "Pudge" himself had came in from Detroit to catch a highschool season for Cov Cath. Yes, Farris has great speed, and yes he has the ability to play the outfield, but what is the major flaw that he has that negates him from playing the catching position. Everybody has things that they can constantly improve on to make themselves better. Farris does in both the outfield and behind the plate, but i see no room for highschool baseball critics to say that there is no way he will be behind the plate in the future. When you are the caliber athlete that these boys are, they are always going to improve from year to year.

Well, i know we are both biased but from sitting on the side of the field when the pass interference was called on the camels; the defender made contact with Farris before the ball was touched. The clock does start when the ball is set, but for the ball to be considered set the ref must blow the whistle to start the clock and as soon as he did the ball was spiked maybe a second should have run off but not two. It really doesn't matter either way because the field goal was missed. I was real disappointed in seeing that the boone kicker made no attempt to prepare for his kick on the sideline. There was no stretching or warm up kicks and in that cold he should have been active.

High snap to the punter, ball hits the punter in the hand and bounces off the cross bar. Then the ball bounces out in front of the punter and he kicks it off the ground. Wouldn't this be a field goal attempt? And if it was would the ball be spotted where it lands or where it was snapped from? The ball hitting the crossbar should have meant dead ball, safety for the rebels. Instead a flag is thrown, so most of the fans were thinking maybe an illegal touch by the punter for stepping out of bounds and back in. Instead the flag is waved off, none of the 5 or 6 refs saw the ball hit the crossbar and they REPLAY the down!!!! Will someone out there who is an official please tell me what situation in the rule book constitutes a REPLAY. I have never heard or seen such a thing.

I'll take Boone by one score in this one. Whether be a field goal or a toughdown idk. I don't see Brown and Griffin hooking up nearly as much as they did last game. Brown underthrew many balls that Griffin was able to make great plays on. If Boone doubles up Griffin those underthrown balls turn into picks and i would look for Boone to make this a position game with the high scoring camel attack. If you ask me it will come down to both teams stopping the run. I could see the camels coming out and running the ball. Last game their back was productive when he had touches and i wouldn't doubt if we see Brown rolling out of the pocket alot to give him some options. You are correct he will be with the 18 yr Midland Redskins next season.

I think that pop to pop times are even more important in high school because you may have a catcher with a 1.9 pop time, which is below the major league average. If all of the pitchers he catches are slow to the plate baserunners have the ability to steal on him, giving him very poor stolen base to throw out ratio. Yes, baserunners steal bases off pitchers in the upper levels, but even more so in high school. Pitchers are slower to the plate, more inconsistant throwing strikes, and most have moves that will significantly improve when they move onto the collegiate level. When catchers are looked at by college and professional scouts sometimes a pop to pop time is the only thing they have that will give them a good idea of how good the catcher actually is throwing to 2nd base, because there are so many factors that can skew their thrown out numbers.

He wore number 4 last year as well. Last season against Scott County he was at QB and mid season they moved him to RB. Bogle is the QB this season, has a strong arm and the ability to run the ball as well. I'll take Boone by 7 assuming their line has made some adjustments from last week.

Farris has a bruised abdomin and a slight bruise to the spleen. He is day to day. I think this one could make for a heck of a opening game.

Farris was the one who returned the opening kick off. Farris and Kyle Arey split time in the back field. Farris left after a injury to his abdomin. Hopefully, he will be good to go for Cov Cath. I liked seeing the rebels throwing the ball, with Bogle at QB and the athletic recievers it could be a different Boone County team.

Boone is looking good. THe first series they stuck to the power game and Farris was able to take it in after about eight plays. The following series Boone worked on their passing game and gave alot of players a chance to prove themselves. It looked like Boone never had the beginning offense in at the same time the rest of the game. Bogle looked pretty good. There was a little bit of timing miscues but nothing that can't be fixed before Cov Cath. The defense looked to be pretty tuff with a occasional brain fart here and there. One that cost them about a 50 to 60 yrd td pass. I think the rebels will be tuff this year and as always, will only get better as the season progresses.:ylsuper:

Well first of all every team represented in the 9th region tourney had good sticks throughout their lineup, and i can think of a few teams from the 10th region that look pretty :confused: at the plate. I guess only time will tell though... Good luck BW!!!

Congradulations to Chris Curley and Cory Farris on their Player of the year awards. Curley had an amazing season as did Farris. Has a sophmore ever got this award before? I'm sure there might have been one, but not to my knowledge.

Who might that be, and is defense your only reason for this person getting player of the year?

Give your thoughts on all if you have them, and can somebody clear this up for me... I keep hearing something about a Large school and Small school player of the year, is there such a thing?

How about thoughts on who will be the Coach's polls position winners? I know there is going to be some stiff competition at a couple of positions for 1st team in NKY.

Now that the regular season has come to an end, who do you suspect will win player of the year in NKY?
