Gotta remember the McAlister injury was a big blow to the team and Dickerson sat out as well with an ankle issue. Not saying Henry wouldn’t have won. The 4 game stretch starting last night was gonna be tough even with a full compliment of players.

Last loss was 70-66 at Eminence on January 4, 2017...

I was a senior at Gallatin. Oldham built a big lead against us in the District semifinal at Carroll. We made a furious 4th quarter comeback and came up a little short. And yes, I was at the 1977 8th Region. You’re right. One of the best 8th Region Tournament games I have ever seen.

Colonel, I have one thing to add on the 1979 8th Region Tournament. Eventual championship Grant County came into the tournament with one loss, at home against Eminence. And lo and behold, who should they draw in the first round? The Warriors. The Braves survived what many consider, myself included, the greatest performance in the history of the tournament. Lamont Sleets scored 47 points as Grant edged Eminence by a 60-59 score. I will never forget that night. On a side note Gallatin coach Jon Jones was a member of the 79 Braves.

Exactly. Trimble grabbed a 13-8 lead after a quarter, but by halftime the Wildcats led 28-24. It was 51-36 heading to the fourth.

I’ll be there almost all day Thursday. Plan on getting there around 11:00 to watch some morning session. My Gallatin County Wildcats don’t play until 8:00 so it’s going to be a long day.

Jarin Rassman with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead the Cats. Hayden Dickerson also hit double figures with 11.

Okay, That’s fine. Rassman is the MVP (much different than Player Of The Year) of the 8th and the most indispensable player in the region.

Oldham scored the last 7 of the half to lead 25-20. The Colonels then extended their lead to 45-30 after three quarters. The Wildcats then hit a flurry of three pointers (7 or 8) to pull within 63-57 with 1:10 to play. It was 66-60 before Oldham hit free throws for the final margin.

8th Region All A Semifinal Gallatin pulled away in the 4th to earn a spot in the championship game against host Williamstown. Jarin Rassman scored 13 of his 21 points in the 4th, including 11 of 13 from the charity stripe. Gage Ashcraft added 11. The state’s leading scorer, Wyatt Supplee, severely sprained his ankle early in the second quarter. He managed to score 11 of his team high 13 points in the second half.

Jarin Rassman led Gallatin with 25 points. WV had 4 players in double figures, led by by Ryan Schultz’s 13. The game was tied at 33 after 3 quarters. Led by Rassman’s brilliant play the Wildcats started the fourth quarter on a 13-2 run. The lead was 54-44 with 1:17 to play when Gallatin free throw woes let the Bearcats creep back in the game. WV trimmed the lead to 57-54 with four seconds before a pair of Gage Ashcraft free throws sealed the victory. Gallatin will play Carroll County in the 6:00 semifinal on Thursday. The second semifinal pits Williamstown against Trimble County.

Still being played. In the 8th Henry County plays Western Hills and Owen County plays CAL on Wednesday.

Jarin Rassman led Gallatin with 22. Gage Ashcraft added 13 and Logan Riddle had 12. Wyatt Supplee, saddled with foul trouble most of the second half, scored 25. Keishaun Mumphrey added 21.

Well, Bracken did face the state’s leading scorer, Wyatt Supplee, who went for 41...

Final from Warsaw. The Wildcats go to 4-0 in District play and extend their 31st District winning streak to 31 games. Jarin Rassman’s career high 32 led Gallatin. Gage Ashcraft scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter including back to back triples to give the Wildcats a 53-49 lead. Wyatt Supplee, the Commonwealth’s second leading scorer at 28.7 led the Panthers with 33. The rematch will be two weeks from tonight in Carrollton.
