  1. Larry is as nice a guy as you will ever see. He truly understands and loves the game.
  2. I knew that I just typed it in wrong. Sorry, I think in 2000 they were runners up.
  3. I heard they tested the lights today, so hopefully we will be home by next week. Pikeville does have the top coach in eastern kentucky and will be right in the hunt come regional time.
  4. Pikeville is a little overated this early. Maybe by seasons end, but we're not their yet.
  5. Last year was an exception in that Pikeville averaged about 9 runs per game to go with a defense that allowed only 2.5 per game. Coach Lawson will have this fixed midway through the season. I saw some bright spots in the game last night. Coach will have to find the right mix of players to fill the voids left from last year. He is replacing all of the infield and 2 outfielders from last year. This will be a very solid club by May. Good luck Panthers and not a bad showing against a very solid club.
  6. Always solid and they have a great coach. He coached Boyd County to a state title in the early 90's.
  7. 15th Region 1. Pikeville 2. Johnson Central 3. Lawrence County 4. Paintsville 5. Sheldon Clark Pikeville and the 57th District.
  8. This must be seniors only as Stuart IJames from Owensboro Catholic is not on the list and is an awesome baseball player. I heard last year as a sophomore, LSU and several SEC schools were very interested in him.
  9. I agree with PatDAd, the 15th region lost a ton of talent.
  10. Nice season and not a bad showing against the powerhouse 7th. Most thought it would be by 45 or so.
  11. Not being pessimistic, just a realist. I think Kevin does a good job, the fact the players play 3 sports hurts as well.
  12. I think it was perfect. Ample seating and air conditioning for all. Dont know about the floor but it seems to be the best fit to prepare teams for Rupp. I know the depth perception may have hurt some teams shooting performances but that will also help prepare them for Rupp. I have been to almost all regional tournaments in the last 10 years and there is no reason to have it anywhere but the Expo. Neutral site and neutral floor. The only negative was the cost of the concessions.
  13. Coaches in my opinion are responsible, but you better have good parents from the little league level up.
  14. Man you need to lay off the Red Bull and get a hold of your nerves.:thumb:
  15. No they are a long way from being at the hump much less over it. Coach Justice is doing a good job but with a poor feeder program it is tough to build a good high school program.
  16. Congrats to the Eagles. Enjoy the Show, it is something these young men will cherish the rest of their lives. Make us proud.
  17. If this is true this thread is useless. I agree he is highly touted but going to Marshall and not performing well would kill the NBA dreams. Going to the Globetrotters would be stupid and probably kill his progress as well. He must go to a big university. All these Prop 48 kids who were phenoms in high school only never to be heard of again, due to lack of exposure. We live in a "what have you done for me lately" environment.
  18. Marshall doesnt get enough Prime Time TV for a player to turn pro after one year. He should go to a major basketball conference for the exposure.
  19. He seems to get too involved with the fans and lose focus, I have seen him argue with the fans. He also tries mind games with the opposing team. Pikeville and Jason Howell didnt bite on it last year in the region. No doubt he knows the game, he played at Louisville. I wish he would change his tactics.
  20. This is Kentucky, Baseball doesnt exist. They dont cover the All A Baseball, but Basketball gets full coverage in the All A. Baseball is the ultimate sport.
  21. Sorry Buckman I didnt see your posts before I posted above. My bad.
  22. Massey ratings are just that. First of all 15th and 16th region teams are not made up of all 4A schools and due to transportation issues recruiting just doesnt happen. The regions you are talking about have mostly kids who play one sport because of school size. In the mountains kids often play 2 or 3 sports and are not nearly as specialized as a kid who plays one sport. Also we dont have a lot of 6'6" players as they do in those regions. Dont forget Paintsville won it all one year and occasionally the mountain schools can compete. Paintsville that year had the size to play with the other schools. Just stay down state and live in your world. Noone up here really cares.:walk: PRP has a little better base to draw from.
  23. I disagree, winners breed winners. Pikeville, Paintsville, Johnson Central, Lawrence Co., and Sheldon Clark all lost alot, but the kids on the bench saw what it takes to be winners and that's what builds a winning tradition. That is what worries me about Kentucky Basketball is that losing breeds losers. The teams I mentioned have seen from the bench when their team was down and the previous players battled and won games after the chips were down. You can teach kids to win or to lose and you better try and teach winners. Those programs have been winners and it will carry over to this year. Just wait and see. Pikeville will struggle early but by tourney time they will be right in the thick of it. As will the other teams I mentioned.
