Russell was State-Champ last year. How in the world can they be labeled a sleeper? Most people consider the defeding champs to be the favorites.

Upset yes. Biggest ever. Not even close.

A shocker to me. The Rebels took control early and did not let up. SC played hard but did not execute when they needed to. A very exciting game to watch with the score remaining close and the lead changing hands on a couple of occasions. May of SC had 29 I believe with 16 coming in the 4th quarter. Congrads go out to the Rebels they played extreamley hard tonight as did SC. I hope SC can get back on track before the district tournament because there are no pushovers in the 57th.

I see SC winning it on the road in an upset. P'ville has no inside presence and May will do a lot of the dirty work inside. I don't see Williams or Pugh either one being able to stop him. On the other end I don't see SC holding Slone much, but enough to get the W. SC by 12

If you think he is the most exciting player in the region, then you haven't seen Maynard. He is the best athlete no questions asked. Crum may be as quick as a cat, but he can't hold a candle to Maynard. Nobody from SC could stay in front of him all night. Crum is going to be a good one, but it is not his time............. yet.

The 57th is hands down the best district in the region with agruabley 5 of the top 10 teams in the region residing there. Valley, Pikeville, & East Ridge all looked pretty weak to me. Come the end of the year I bet you'll be saying I know the rest of the region can't play with the 57th.

The best point guard? Although I love Spud and the way he plays my vote would go to Matt Maynard of Belfry hands down. He is a true point guard where as Spud would be better suited as a shooting guard. Spud has good handles, but does not make others better when he has the ball. He only makes himself better. Everytime Maynard touches the pill everyone in Pond Creek gets a little better. I don't see Slone as a "POINT" Guard. He seems more like a STUD to me. That kid can do it all.

I think John Hardin is exactley where they belong. Out of the top 10. They haven't turned heads enough yet. They may be undefeated, but that can be credited to scheduling. Give them a little more time and they may earn their way in it.

This says field. I'd have to say the best field is Belfry's, but the atmosphere would most definatley be Putnams. Ashland has an amosphere you just can't describe, but Belfry has a field that is second to none.

In the late 80s early 90s Sheldon Clark went to Williamson, WV and played. In that game with SC running a cover 2 and JD Damron playing saftey a wide out for Williamson ran a slant and JD lit him up as the ball got there. It was almost a movie stunt hit. Spit and sweat shot out of the face mask like a geyser and the hit was so hard that it knocked the Williamson boy out cold. JD got up took about 2 or 3 steps and passed out himself. It was a kill shot. It sounded like sombody shot off a shotgun.
