Oldrambler - I don't want to shortchange any of the Ramblerettes. Obviously, I didn't attend the game, and it is obvious from the comments on this thread that many of them played extremely well. My point is only that basketball is won on both ends of the floor. A basket denied is worth just as much as a basket scored. Again - congrats to Raceland. Bobby Trimble is a gem, and the girls appear to enjoy playing for him. Just as it should be. Frances

First, congratulations to Raceland. You don't beat a team with two legitimate All-State players on it without playing great defense, and team basketball. Every girl that stepped on the floor for Raceland deserves a "high five" - especially the Porter twins that defended Terry and Queen. Second, as I read this thread, I have to respond to a few of the posts so far: This reminds me of those guys that play basketball at the YMCA and never call the score. Then, late in the game, they want to challenge whoever is calling the score on every trip down. You know - one guy has been keeping score and late in the game, after a made basket, he says "22-18", and the guy who hasn't said a word looks at him and says - "Oh yeah? Name 'em"... This is a classic. I thought I was going to die laughing. Oh yeah? Name 'em. Frances

A good observation, Gertrude. I think that reflects on the fact that Dakotah has been in extreme situations (in terms of basketball) so many times that he simply doesn't let it effect who he is, or how he plays. I also think that one aspect of Dakotah that is lost on the vast majority of people is the fact that he is a leader for virtually every team he plays with. You are spot on, when you speak of his maturity, in terms of his chronological age. He is light years ahead of most people his age. Frances

I'm already getting that warm, fuzzy feeling I get when I fold towels. On the other hand, at this point, would the "bitter" rivals have resorted to a brawl, or would it be a full blown knife fight between the parents? Well, so far, I have been contacted by a parent of one of the team members, a second person that is very close to the Rose Hill girls' basketball program, and a third person that took that post to be a reference to the officials that worked the game. Out of those, I explained my remarks to the person that is close to the program, and declined to explain them to the others. I explained my post to that individual because that person did not hide behind the anonymity of a screen name, and that person had a direct interest in the issue. I have declined to explain the intent of the post for a good reason, and whether anyone else likes that or not, that is the way it is. Frances

LOL - fair enough, Gertrude. I have to admit that I didn't think that one through, prior to posting it... I know one thing. Li'l Frances is missing the boat on one of them. At one time, he had a crush on one of the young ladies, and without a doubt, she has grown up to be a lot prettier than he has. Come to think of it, that may be a lucky break for her. Frances
