  1. You are correct Eagle.. It was Justin Harrison...I am not sure where Adam came from...:ylsuper: :ylsuper:
  2. Apollo lost to Region 2 Champions Christian Co 58-53....I believe that was the only team in the 16 they have played..
  3. A list of the all tourney team from the 3rd region tournement. Doug Denton, Tyler Brown, Ben Duvall, Jake Wells from Apollo Josh Vaught, Shaun Madien, Jordan James from Ohio Co. Riley Benock, Adrian Whelan Meade Co. Andrew Howard, Jay Ivey Owensboro Catholic Jon Michael Fletcher Breckenridge Co. Adam Harrison Muhlenburg North Josh Smith Grayson Co. Nathan Ross Butler Co.
  4. I have seen a lot of post about teams 3 point capability and I assume that the post refer to hitting a lot of threes. I am wondering if anyone feels the way that I do in that more games are lost by 3 pointers then are won by 3 pointers. I am not taking about a 3 at the buzzer or a team that hit 12 3's in a particular hot night. Just in general: are more games lost by and not hitting them as opposed to a 10-15 foot jumpers.
  5. Tyler Brown Apollo. Just a 10th grader...He CAN be exciting at times
  6. Line up for Apollo looks like this: Jake Wells 6' Sr. G Doug Denton 6' Sr G Tyler Brown 6'2 So. G ( A jumping machine ) Brad Morris 6'1 Sr F Ben Duvall 6'4" Jr C ( Varsity since 9th Grade ) They play about 4 off the bench and rotate well with the subs. Strong defense. Wells and Denton excellent outside shooters. Brown inside/outside can hurt a team either way. Maybe be better 10th grader in the state, and if so, I would love to see them. Duvall tough rebounder, strong. He has started football varsity since his freshman year also. He is just a good athelete. Morris is a streak type shooter, but is a a better "garbage" player. He gets good position and lots of put backs. This sounds like it could be a very good game as I know Apollo has a lot of respect for CCHS. I think Owensboro Catholic is the only common opponent for both teams.
  7. I will be there. I had the opportunity to meet several at the state football championships and it was great to put names with faces.
  8. Good job on updates Hearsay....Keep it coming
  9. He went out with a season ending injury in the grayson co. game in I believe late January
  10. Scoring Meade: whelan-11 benock7 roe 6 dowell 5 stinnett 4 mattingly 4 Apollo brown 14 denton 12 wells 5 little 4 duvall 2 morris 2 A totla of 12 free throws shot tonight...4th region officials let them play...I guess
  11. Apollo was leading 39-37 when Brad Morris from Apollo missed the front end of the 1-1...Meade rebounded with 9 seconds and got it in the hands of Benock...He lost control of it...Ball is on the floor and as players from both teams were diving to get control of it time expired....Whelan led Meade with 11 ( boy can he jump all 5ft 9) Benock had 7, but only 2 in 1st half....Apollo was lead by Brown with 14 and a ton of rebounds and Denton with 12
  12. Catholic fought back to tie the game at 34 at the end of the 3rd, but Catholic missed some free throws in the 4th and was outscored 27 to 24 in the 4th. Several players from Ohio Co. played well. They have to be the best sub 500 team I have seen. They had been beaten by Catholic by around 24 earlier in the year. They beat Apollo, Meade Co and Breckenridge and then loss to some lesser teams this year. They now will play the winner of Meade/Apollo game for a trip to sweet 16.
  13. It is a fact Ohio Co. 61 O Catholic 58...I was there....A big upset for sure
  14. King Kelly was in Owensboro in November to visit his old stomping gounds from his KWC years here. There was a lunch and the author (Gary West) was present along with several of his old team mates from those KWC teams. It was held at the Sportscenter where Kelly continued his "antics" against other teams. He told many stories of his days in Wayland, his high school days and of course his college days here. In the crowd was a grandaughter of the former owner of one of his old "hangouts" which was at the time a area favorite watering hole....Southside Bar and Grill and someone pointed out this grandaughter to him and without missing a beat he said "you may not know this, but I paid your way thru college"....A grear day and a real legend
  15. Well OCatholic may be the favorite, but Meade Co, Owensboro, Apollo and Breckenridge Co can not be counted out. Meade beat Apollo once and Breck Co. twice in the regular season, and lost to Ohio Co by I believe 10. They lost one of the best players for I think the rest of the season. They do not go deep off the bench which may hurt them. Apollo and Owensboro play 1st game in district so that will eliminate one of them. Owensboro is playing real good right know and Apollo has shown that in close games they can just as easy lose them as win them as the margin of victory for them is not much at all. OCatholic has a soft schedule to end the season and they play Daviess Co in the district. The soft schedule may come back to bite them. Breck Co has a up and down season and for them it just depends on which team shows up. Owensboro just beat then on 02/17.. However in all fairness, I have seen such close games in this district and region that a missed 3 or a 5 for 8 free throw night can make or break a team. I also think that either Breck or Meade would have to come to Owensboro for the 1st round of the region depending on who is runner up in their district. That would IMO be a benefit to the local team. It is like a 2 hour drive and a time change between here and there.
  16. With the Region 9 champs having a first round game against the Region 3 champs in the "dance", I was wondering if some informed fans from the 9th can comment on some of the faves from the 9th. Highlands, Holy Cross, Beechwood as well as Holmes and Covington seem the cream of the crop as far as records go. Any dark horses? Also did the district draw hurt or help any of these teams with head to head match ups. I am just trying to get a feel for the match up with any 9th region team that the 3rd will match up with.
  17. I understand that Tyler Blandford signed with Oklahoma State and will have to decide between pro ball and college. I believe he has 5-6 pro teams quite interested and that the summer of 05 was quite good to him in the various pro showcases he went to
  18. Congrats to Btown.... A great game ...That is what makes these type of high school games so good... A team that could cause some problems in the 5th region... BTown good luck rest of the season in a tough 5th region...Hearsay thanks again for the help...
  19. ivey had to shoot a 3 at end of game and it was no good after a miss by howard stats to follow...calhoun 24 14 for neel for o/c ivey 22 only 2 for owsley great defense put on him
