2006 Championship Format/Schedule??
I was just informed by someone that the 2006 State Championships will be changed this year. Perhaps this is "old" news and I am just out of the loop, but could someone confirm this. Thursday Game is 4A final Friday 2A, followed by 1A and then 3A as the night cap and no games of course on Sat....Again excuse me if this is "old" infor. I quess if it is, I just missed it. If this is correct what was the reason if anyone knows. Thanks

Big news out of the 16th Region ...
Just wondering if that is the same Roger Zornes that played here in Owensboro at Kentucky Wesleyan in the mid 70's. If it is then I remember him well. I was only about 15 when he was here, but he was quite a defensive player and if memory serves me correct he had some really bad knees and played with a lot of desire and never backed down from anyone. Gotta love that.

My 2-A Pre-Season Top 10
Well I can only say what I have heard via the rumor mill and that is the Winklepeck kid who made all state as a DB may get the nod, but for what it is worth, I will believe it when I see it.

My 4-A Pre-Season Top 10
I am not sure what Owensboro will have to warrent a top ten. I do know they played a ton of young kids last year and have some good running backs this year coming back. They just about pulled a hugh upset last season against Henderson Co.

My 2-A Pre-Season Top 10
OCatholic may be a little better on defense. The offense is only as good as the passing game goes and I understand one of the top RB's (Ijames) is not playing this year, because he is working on his baseball some more as he is projected to get a big time ride for baseball.

Any radio broadcast?
Well a friend of mine has told me that the local station here in Owensboro is picking up the Daviess Co game. It is 94.7 WBIO and they are picking up the feed from another station. After hearing this, I then seen it in the newspaper, that yes they were covering it. I have not been able to determine if an internet feed is available from anyone, but i do know that the 94.7 broadcast is not going to be on the internet so just local coverage is available.

Any radio broadcast?
Well they have all left to get ready for the tourney. I do not know what that means since it is in the same town, but nevertheless I was directed to another person and I had to leave a voice mail so maybe they will respond and I will pass the information if/when I get it.

- Any radio broadcast?
Does anyone know if there will be any internet radio broadcast of ANY of the state tourney games?- Ryle - 2006 Fast-Pitch State Champions
Congrats to the Ryle girls. I am a Owensboro Catholic fan, and you gals got us this year. The whole Ryle team was a classy group and very good sports as well. You fought hard against the Aces and the better team won this year, but the ACES will be back ( i hope ). Good luck to all the Ryle fans as well as the team and again congrats on a state title.- Ryle in Finals
Local news has Ryle winning in the 6th inning 4-2 over OC- How will 2006 compare to 2005 in the Bluegrass???
Owensboro and Apollo will be pretty good this year. Owensboro played a lot of underclassmen and they gained a ton of experience. They have some big numbers this year on the team. They almost pulled the big upset last year against Henderson Co. Coach Prince will have them ready. Apollo has some talent with Ben Duvall leading the pack. Also they have a Thompson kid that is supposed to be a real hard hitter and has some good skills. Many may remember Duvall from the state basketball finals. Coach Carlsburg is getting them where they need to be...Daviess Co has a new coach in Kimbrell (sp). He may have more numbers this year and that program will get better as the year goes. Owensboro Catholic with the new field and the air attack will continue to be a factor in 2A. They have a top notch lineman in the Millay kid who is getting tons of attention from about every school that is big time college football.- Countdown to Kickoff 2006
My wife is a teacher so she is off all summer so I am counting the days to her every day till the season kicks off and also that she will be back in school and out of my hair....Needless to say one of us is happy with the countdown and one of us (her) is not. This is me....:dancingpa and this is she:fight:- Are these the only schools...
Kimbrell got the job at DCHS about 2 weeks ago....Many may already know this already- Walt Allen
I know that he is attending Presbyterian College in I believe South Carolina.- Best player on each sweet 16 team you saw this week?
Well I will say that there were several very good players on different teams, I did see one that stuck out as, although not as talented as some, was playing about as hard as anyone. I believe his number was 50 for Graves Co. and maybe his name was Jamie King (I think). He was all over the floor, getting a real "taste" of Rupp as he was diving after loose balls, getting pushed around a lot and never backed down. He had a very good game in the defeat of South Laurel and may have been the player of the game. I will say he did not mind getting the bumps and knots that come with the game. Tough kid...- Walt Allen
Let me begin to say that I do not know Walt Allen. Being an Owensboro resident and Apollo fan, I have never up to this year seen Walt Allen play. Outside of the many post I see on BGP about him and of course the big games he had in the 2005 state championship run, I had no reason to really think about him. I must say that what I witnessed after the loss to Graves Co, was something that I will be reminded of whenever I do hear his name. After the loss, he gathered his entire team AND Graves Co. players, coaches, trainers etc in a circle and in a nutshell told them what is really important in life. He had the attention of everyone in that circle. He did not preach per say, but was just matter of fact about the need for a higher power and ,with that, no one will lose in the bigger game of life. To the South Laurel fans, it must have been great to have been associated with someone that at, what could have been, a dark moment in this young man's life he shined as bright as the sun. Congrats to South L for a fine season and Mr. Allen "thanks" for the memory.- Mr. Basketball ?
