2006 Championship Format/Schedule??

Featured Replies

I was just informed by someone that the 2006 State Championships will be changed this year. Perhaps this is "old" news and I am just out of the loop, but could someone confirm this.

Thursday Game is 4A final

Friday 2A, followed by 1A and then 3A as the night cap and no games of course on Sat....Again excuse me if this is "old" infor. I quess if it is, I just missed it. If this is correct what was the reason if anyone knows.

Thanks

Yes it is accurate, but fairly old news.

The reason is with UL joining the BEast, they now have a home game on finals weekend every other year (Sat afternoon). Last year they played UConn on the road and this year it is at Papa Johns.

This is a one year band-aid, but a better solution will need to be found before 2008 finals rolls around.

Thanks for the information. I remember hearing something being tossed around here on BGP about it, but did not know it was in concrete. Did they put 1A between 2A and 3A in the fond hope of getting a better crowd or what? I must say last year the 1A game crowd was really down, but also the outside elements were not the best unless you are old school like me!!

Maybe the the band aid should be moving it to Commonwealth, because Kentucky generally does not play that late in the year.

I think that Lexington would be a better site, does anybody have a reason why they do not play in the Commonwealth?

How many times does this come up a year?

I am not trying to be condescending here, but if you do a search on something concerning the finals site, you will likely find about 3 threads on it. :thumb:

The natural grass surface would not be able to hold up under the strain of 4 straight games especially if the weather is bad.
