  1. Add 48 points onto that. He actually accounted for 50 points if you add the safety! That is impressive!
  2. Harlan County's Nathaniel Gilliam, among other Kentucky High School football players, are up for this award. From readin the selections, Gilliam had the best night of them all. Vote for who you think should receive the award. Vote Here
  3. Actually I'm a former player (2005), but I live in Corbin now. Since Harlan County didn't have a game, I decided to go watch Corbin/LCA and I'm glad I did!
  4. Here is the article: Raiders roll past Dragons
  5. Milam was there but was on the LCA sideline. I would have loved to watch the ending to this game. Sounds like a great one!
  6. This game starred two great running backs. Corbin was very impressive running the ball tonight. I was impressed with Watkins' speed on the two long runs, but I was impressed with his power on the 40 yard run. He trucked three guys one after another on that run. Hayden from LCA is a man! I thought he was the better running back tonight as far as talent goes. He has great vision and knows how to let things develop and burst through the hole. He had to make things happen on his own a lot, while Watkins had HUGE holes to run through! Great game! Congrats to Corbin, and good luck to both teams.
  7. ...And as far as the district, it will be a tad bit easier.
  8. This is where the 3A/5A thing needs to be put to rest. Like Bear_Paw said, Breathitt would be competing at the same level in 5A. Look at it like this, Harlan County went to Letcher, and should have won the game. Letcher is the best team in that district. What does that say about the difference in 3A and 5A? I'm glad we aren't in 4A... I agree with 3wishes, the Black Bears are in a Catch 22. The whole debate needs to be dropped.
  9. I was just using those two things as examples of how it's easy to get wrapped up in other things besides the actual game. I think you all read too much into what I was saying.
  10. Missed tackles and a lackluster offense is because of a lack of concentration. Players get caught up in the hype and lose focus. I think that is what happened. In no way am I saying fans should not support their team 100%. That is why we have fans. But, these boys have never had this much support, and I know if I was playing, it would be easy to get caught up in it.
  11. Good win for the Dragons. Now, beat Jenkins and you'll have yourself a home playoff game.
  12. I was worried about the over hype from the fans. I don't think a lot of fans realized how good Breathitt would be. As a player it is easy to get caught up in the hype. If I'm Larkey, I might want to say stop the tailgating, forget about the blow up helmet, and let's focus on football.
  13. I'm not against Harlan (City) in any way, but why would people still be bringing these kids up when they transferred 4-5 years ago? They transferred in 6th grade, and now they are freshman and sophomores. I hate to say this, but it was the administrations own fault because they will not allow players to hold back and be eligible. Nonetheless, I would like to see the Green Dragons do well this season, and from what I can tell, they can still get a home playoff game. Good luck to them.
  14. I just saw the AP poll that had Breathitt #7 and Harlan County #9. This could be the game of the year in the mountains.
  15. What about Deuce Finch from St. X? I know he was regarded as one of the best backs in the state last year, and he had a lot of hype around him in the state championship game. Also, he is the star back for one of the 25 teams in the nation. How has his season gone?
  16. I think Harlan County has a lot of players, but not a ton of depth. Also, I don't think Breathitt will have more athleticism than the Bears. This game will be one of the best games in the mountains this season. I'm worried about Harlan County's defensive secondary, which is their weak link on defense. I think they can make up for it with their defensive line play, though.
  17. I'm glad your confident, and I hope everyone else is, but your margin of victory is a bit too high, in my opinion. I think the final score will be less than a touchdown, with the winning team being a toss up.
  18. I'm pretty sure you said the same thing about the Letcher Central game. I assure you, Breathitt could beat Letcher Central. I'm not going to make a prediction in this game because I'm so unsure. In order to beat Breathitt, the Black Bears will have to show the same physicality they played with in the second half against Lee County. Fugate is one of the best backs in this part of the state, and better than any other back Harlan County has seen so far. It will definitely be a test and a great game! I just wish I could be there!!!!
  19. I see your point, but I think it is a lot more fun to even the playing field and enable more teams to compete at a state level. In my opinion, if Harlan continually improves this season, next year could be a really good year for the Dragons. They definitely do not need to drop their heads - Hazard is a great team!
  20. The road to the state has ran through Belfry for quite some time. Harlan County has a very good team, but obviously you haven't seen Belfry or Louisville Central. Just to put it into perspective, Central (3A) laid the wood to a good Louisville Male (6A) team.
  21. Trinity will be moving up in the rankings after this win. Rivals.com had Trinity ranked #71 iand St. X (OH) ranked #15. Great win!!!
  22. Being a Harlan County fan, I don't know if I should feel better about playing Breathitt or feel worse about playing Estill? This must have been a good, hard fought game.
  23. That was expected, but a good experience game for the Dragons.
  24. I think Letcher will win, but I think it is going to be a lot to a lot.
  25. I've heard more and more good things about Lee. This should be a good non-district game for the Black Bears.
