Well let's look at it this way. Ashland scheduled both Pikeville and Raceland and we know how those games went. Granted Ashland had a down year but it proves that the small schools can play with the big boys. No matter the size of the school some of the smaller teams can field just as many athletes as a larger school.

If I am not mistaken Mason has West to worry about and Russell has East before we should even worry about a rematch. To much can happen in a game.

How long will Cox be out and will it affect them come playoff time?

I was just as shocked as you are. I picked Mason by 3 TD's.

Last I heard it was tied at 27 at the end of the third quarter.

According to the broadcast they don't have much of a kicking game.

They did play a tough schedule but they could go out early ala Ft Campbell in 05. Who knows. Russell could step up and shock some teams as well.

I have seen both teams play this year and unless some things have changed I will take Mason by 3+ TD's.

I saw them once this year and I liked what I saw as well. When they were down they still played hard, gave it there all and didn't start fighting among themselves like I have seen some teams do in their situation. Hats off to the Lewis Co football program. I have no problem agreeing with that but Russell had about as many penalties and yardage so the argument could be made that it hurt them as well. IMO the penalties were a wash. I think the 3 Raceland turn overs late in the game were from possibly trying to force things to happen that were not there. Raceland played tough the first half and all in all I thought it was an entertaining game.

I gave facts to back up what was said. Penalties were about even and all three of Racelands interceptions came in the second half. Was it because Raceland fell apart or Russell adjusted accordingly? I have no idea but there are the stats to back up the comment that was made.

First half was pretty even and a good ballgame. The second half Russell took control and never looked back. Russell answered score for score in the first half so I would consider it a wash. Seems like Raceland had an issue with movement that cost them several penalties but from the stats I heard after the game Russell was penalized more yardage.

#26 Travis Edwards looked very good on defense too.

Considering Russell's record versus Ashland's record it was a very good game. Ivan and Tracy both said that they were surprised that the Russell freshmen did this good. On a side not I hope that the Ashland player that was taken to the hospital is going to be OK.

Final was 14-6 Ashland.
