Well this person certainly didn't doubt Vince. Everyone was saying, stop Murray, stop Ryle. Well as I predicted, CC couldn't stop The Deuce.

I'll agree that the pass D is not the strength of our defense. We do have some talented atheletes in the secondary, who are certainly capable of getting done. I don't think there are many in NKY that can cover Griffin one on one. That being said, I see what your saying about stopping Murray. First, I think we've seen in the past that if you key on Murray too much, Gray can and will beat you. Second, I don't think they can stop Murray. I think CC's best chance for success is to get out to an early lead. As you pointed out, our offense isn't designed to score points in a hurry, and we might struggle from behind. All of that being said, I think Cinderella's glass slipper breaks on Friday, and CC falls to the Raiders. I just don't see that much improvement on the CC side to make up 25+ points. Not so fast my friend. Last time I checked, Ryle handled CC in the regular season with relative ease. I think they are better than they were at that time, but so is Ryle. I'll agree that Ryle has been susceptible to the pass, especially the big play at times this year. And with a WR like Griffin, I'm sure he'll make some plays even if we do cover him well. But Ryle won't be stopped on the ground, at least not by Campbell Co. Boone and Farris are a one man show, stop Farris, stop Boone. But if you stop Murray, Gray will beat you, and then Schmitz sneaks in every once and a while. It didn't happen the first time, and it won't happen this time either. I didn't see this as I was a bit preoccupied at the time, a man has to eat you know.:lol: What exactly happened? Was it a player, student, random person who ran through the sign? If it was anyone associated with Ryle, that is an absolutely classless act, and I hope whomever was responsible is dealt with in the appropriate manner.

Let's not turn this into insults against players or teams, we're all better than that. Football is a violent game, and I have no doubts that both sides were trying to be as "physically destructive" as possible out there. Ryle is a physical team, no doubt, given the nature of their offense and defense. But I didn't see anything that I'd classify as "dirty" play. Just 2 teams giving it their all out on the field. Congrats to both sides on a hard, well fought game and good luck to both going forward.

I know this winning playoff games is a new experience for some of the Raider Nation, but jeez. Hats off to both sides IMO. Dixie played their tails off, despite being down several starters, and made a game of it to say the least. If not for a phenomenal touchdown run late in the half, its a 14-12 ballgame folks. I was very impressed with the Mosier kid, he did it all tonight. What can I say about Ryle? Scotty Gray, you make an old timer like me proud, suiting up and playing despite food poisioning. Vince Murray it is an absolute joy to watch you play the game. But please, please. As an old coach used to say.......act like you've been there before(even though some of you might not have). And sorry FBstud, this wasn't necessarily directed at you, I just liked your post.

Your making my point for me. I don't think that many would argue that Ryle has been the better team in many of the matchups with Dixie Heights. Let me correct that, Ryle has had better talent in many of the matchups. But they have made just enough mistakes to "keep it close" in those matchups, coming out on the losing end all but once. Ryle did play well offensively last year, they just made a lot of mistakes to "keep it close". I think this year's Ryle team is different though. I just don't understand all of the Raider fans beating their chest over this win though. Bottom line, it doesn't mean a thing unless you win this week. IMO, we still have plenty left to prove before sticking our chests out...........like winning a playoff game, or how about the district(we made just enough mistakes to lose that the last 2 years also). My point is that Dixie is a good ballclub who has given us fits, even when we are the "better team." Any way you slice it, a 2 point win doesn't say, dominating performance. But then again, a 2 point win is always better than a 2 point loss. I think Ryle has a talented team, but if you make enough mistakes, "keeping it close", sometimes a lesser foe can sneak up on you. Dixe will bring their "A" game, I just want to make sure that we do the same. But, QB or not, I'd be shocked if this one was decided by more than 2 td's and wasn't close throughout. It's always tougher the 2nd time around.

:scared: Getting a little hostile in here, the Raiders are restless. Let me be the first to say that, unlike some of the Raider fans, I am taking Dixie Heights very seriously. Am I happy its at home? You betcha. Is losing Bricking going to make it tough for Dixie to win? Tougher than if he played. But let's focus on the task at hand here Raiders. I do believe that Ryle is 1-7 against Dixie since 4A started, and that one win was a 2 point win. Say what you want about dominating a game, but that has been the MO for Ryle against Dixie for the last several years. At the end of the day we'd have dominated total offense, but come up on the short end of the stick. But this year the tide has turned. Make no mistake though, Dixie Heights is certainly capable of beating anyone in our district. Remember, that little oblong ball bounces funny ways some nights. I have said before that I think BOTH sides played it close to the vest last Friday. Not that they didn't try, they certainly did, but I don't think either side really wanted to "show their cards" with this weeks matchup looming. We haven't won a playoff game in well, forever. I don't think that a WKU team is necessarily more talented, maybe more seasoned. And if they can stop the running game then we're in big trouble. Remember the old Boone Co. football? Yeah, we play that brand of offense now.

Couldn't agree with you more. We won't win games with our passing attack, that I'll guaruantee. And who are we(ryle) to be talking about playing in the state championship game? We lost in the first round last year, and the year before that, and the year before that....... Let's win a playoff game first. Dixie Heights is a very good football team that played us close last week. Let's keep our focus there for now.

I don't think that it was anything new, and I've seen quite a few Raider games this year. I did think that BOTH sides played the game "close to the vest". With Bricking apparently out for Dixie, we might see more of the same from them in matchup #2.

Can't say enough how impressed I was with the field conditions. Kudos to any and all that were out in the cold and wind working the field to get it into game shape. As for the game, a few thoughts: First, I'm VERY sure that Dixie wasn't trying to disrespect the national anthem. I know from where I was tonight it was difficult to hear at times, especially when the wind picked up. Second, I'm not sure how close to the vest this one was played, but it seemed like both teams were trying to "not show a lot". Not that I necessarily blame them. Third, whatever Coach Sorrell does on defense it works to perfection against our offense. We haven't moved the ball well against Dixie in what feels like an eternity. Aside from a couple of big plays tonight, they did a good job bottling us up(until the last drive). Finally, congrats to all of the Raiders, but remember, the real season starts now. Everyone is 0-0.............don't forget last year. Make us proud! :flame:

Thanks for clearing things up. I was pretty sure that Pat gave that up some time ago. Personally, I'd like to see more of an effort to rebuild/maintain the facilities. I know that I went into the locker room recently, and it seems a little rundown, much like the field. Obviously over time these things happen. I'd just like to see both restored to their previous glory.

I had heard this as well. Apparently Coach Spritzky, not to be outdone by Lake Boone County, requested that the turf be retractable so that Dixie Heights could suprise playoff opponents who came expecting to play on turf. When asked about the possible lack of grass on the field when the turf is rolled back, Coach Spritzky replied, "Grass? Grass? We haven't seen grass in years, so it won't be any different this time around." When asked about whether he'd retract the turf if Dixie were to play Ryle in the playoffs, Spritzky replied, "They think they've seen mud out there in Union. Well I have news for them, they ain't seen nothin yet!" :lol: :lol: :banana:

Thanks for the info cshs, that sounds about par for the course. I remember when Pat Green(the former, maybe current?, groundskeeper for Triple Crown) was in charge of field maintenance. I can't say that I've ever seen a grass field in much better shape, year in and year out. Sometimes it's not about saving a few pennies...... As for the game, with all of the rain and the cold, I know many are leaning towards the Ryle running game and "power" football. Let me be the first to say, and Dixie fans can certainly attest to this, that playing in the mud doesn't necessarily benefit the "better" team. If anything, I think it levels the playing field somewhat, taking away some of the speed and athleticism. We were talking about irony, well Sandman, Red Heat, Fisky, I've got an very ironical possibility. What if Dixie wins this week, in the mud, b/c it neutralizes some of Ryle's speed and athleticism. Follow that up next week with a loss at your place on the turf and, well, maybe people will actually be calling to bring the old field back! :lol: :lol:

Have any idea why the field has looked so bad over the last couple of years? I understand that some games have been played in the rain, but that happened in years past and the field held up wonderfully. Our field used to be a sight to behold, and now it's..........well not. Just wondering if anyone had any info as to why the field is in such bad shape here of late.

Yes, the field is in terrible shape, and will probably get worse after the rain today and tomorrow. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that there is no way that coach Warner will move the game to Dixie. :thumb:
