  1. Good group and they should make a difference and help GC. Some other teams in the Eastern KY area will also have some difference makers: Lawrence County - QB Chandler Shephard Boyd County - RB/LB Cody Rice OL/DL Seth Hatfield QB Tyler Arthur Ashland - QB Sam Hunter
  2. I agree kids do get weeded out before they blossum. I have seen that in Larger School Youth Leagues many of times, and we all know once a kid quits that they never return. These days and times it is hard enough to keep the dedicated players playing, moreless talk a kid into coming back after getting cut at a younger age. Also think it is sad that the Coach that made a decision that affected another child normally is a Dad as well. I think Baseball is the worst sport for this in our area though. Taking players at a very young age for JV and cutting a 9/10th grader that has worked hard for the system for years to make room for them. Most of these 7th/8th graders that are taken to replace an older kid will be replaced by a 7th/8th grader themselves in just a couple of years, due to the fact their parents allowed them to get in the system before they were ready and that is what the coaches will judge them by and will never allow them a chance again, even if they do become better and ready. Baseball is the only sport that doesnt have Middle School teams and that hurts our Area really. It would be one thing if the school size made it to where you had to use younger kids to have the numbers, but to be picking up younger kids just so they wont jump to another school system or that you needed someone to mow the grass is another.
  3. I would first like to say Congrats to all the All A schools as well and they represent the Region well. On another note though, I believe smaller schools have an advantage in some sports and that is because they believe in using ALL of their students to play ALL sports, which puts good athletes there for ALL sports. A lot of the larger schools preach to their players that you should only do one sport and the players believe that, which takes a good athlete out of another sport that he could be helping the team out in. Just my opinion.
  4. Anyone have any info on Boyd for the year? Not too much has been said about them. Any injuries or any new kids?
  5. What is Sad about it? Kids are going out and playing hard for ALL teams night after night. Close games, unexpected wins, and no sure winner night after night...What is Sad about that? BTW, all of our 16th Region teams seem to be competing well with out of Region teams this year as well. Even some of them below the Top 3.
  6. I agree. Being down is one thing, but I do believe there is Parity in the 16th Region and that makes you excited as a Fan. There are always exciting games to watch and always close games, irregardless who is playing. (Well, with exception of some of Elliot's games.)
  7. You have to remember that GC was predicted to win the Region last year either and they put it together and made a strong run. Likewise could happen with a couple of teams this year. I look for Boyd, East Carter, Raceland and Greenup to all have a shot in my opinion. But GC is still on top right now until someone knocks them off.:thumb:
  8. Thats kind of odd, the teams you would want to put ahead of them, they have beaten already, but that is your opinion. It is a shame if you think they are so bad that Fairview couldnt draw them on the opening round of the Districts.:sssh: BTW, Boyd even beat Ashland as well, which are ahead of them, so really they could even move up a spot.
  9. Congrats to the Muskies for a bounce back win.
  10. BTW, glad to see the Poll back there Cubster.
  11. Anyone have any results from the games today. I do know Ironton beat Greenup County. Boyd lost a close one to Fleming County. Rowan County had their way with Raceland. Anyone else know any results? I think Ashland beat West Carter as well.
  12. Actually that was 1989, but honored to be part of this list. Should have seen the dunking before the torn ACL.:thumb:
  13. Fairview has a nice team. I know Hall and Jackson had a big night for Fairview as did Mayhew from Boyd. Boyd had no answer for Hall and Fairview did have an answer for Selby, which was not allow him the ball. At the same time Boyd did not try to get him the ball. Selby had a lot of rebounds and he received 3 passes all game and he made the shot all three times. Selby did not get a pass in the Post till 47.4 seconds to go in the 3rd Period. That is sad.
  14. Congrats to Raceland for breaking the Streak.
  15. Honestly I dont think anyone will give you an excuse, nor do they feel obligated to give you an excuse. Rose Hill respresented our Region well and have nothing to explain to anyone, especially to teams that they have already beaten. Congrats to Hazard on the Win.
  16. KOTJ, I looked in my Hillbilly Dictionary and the Farmers Almanac and no where did I find that WORD. What in the world does that MEAN? Let me guess, it means a Short man with a toboggan and a BC Jacket on, right?
  17. Is this for Third Place in the District? If Boyd wins, could that put Boyd vs Ashland in the opening game of District and RH vs Fairview?
  18. Congrats to Russell....I just really cant figure out what the deal is with Greenup this year as well, but congrats to the Devils.
  19. Congrats to Paintsville on the win...
  20. Congrats to East Carter on the Win. Boyd's streak comes to an end, but will make the District interesting though.
  21. Interesting score....what has happened to Ashland?
