All A second round game

Congrats Tigers :thumb:

Paintsville will play tomorrow in the first semifinal at 3pm against the winner of University Heights/Bishop Brossart.

Bardstown came storming back from being down 10 to tie the game at 57 midway through the 4th. Paintsville took control from there and put the game away from the free throw line.

This sounded like a really great game. Bardstown was not as good from the free throw line and did not seem as tenacious defensively as they usually are. Also sounded as if they really missed Logan Edelen's (torn ligaments) inside presence. But Bardstown has almost everyone back next year so this is another good showing.

It could be interesting to see how Landon Slone matches up against Scotty Hopson, should UHA win. Randy McCoy and Bill Mike Runyon were college roomies at Pikeville college too!

Slone and Hopson will not matchup unless you are saying there is no one over 6-3 that can defend Hopson. Hopson will own the boards if this is the case. Slone would be better utilized checking Edmundson.

Paintsville only committed seven turnovers, but that's just because they took good care of the ball. Bardstown didn't play that bad defensively; it's just that Paintsville had too many weapons, and the biggest weapon of all — Slone. He ended up with 31 points, 10 boards and four assists. He scored seven straight after the 17-6 Bardstown run that tied it up at 57 apiece, getting Paintsville off on a 13-0 run in response. Paintsville hit 14-of-15 FTs in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Hickman had a rough shooting game (5-16), but still ended up with a triple-double (10/13/10). His two-day totals were 40 points, 24 rebounds and 15 assists, which should land him on the all-tourney team, if I have anything to say about it. :sssh:

Really looking forward to UHA-Paintsville.

Bardstown is a junior laden team so guys keep your heads up and just remember 2009 could be your year. Finish the season strong and try and win the 5th region title.

Where is Bardstown loated in the state? What big city is it closest to?

Paintsville is great offensivley but they seem to have weaknesses on defense. Anybody else agree?

I think that's a potential tournament problem. They'll be able to outscore everyone in their district and maybe region. But they might struggle to stop a state tournament team...that team would be from the 7th region.
