I noticed at the 54th district tournament that the trophies look very cheap. Funny thing is that the individual trophies that the kids received were as tall as the championship trophies. In all honesty, I believe at decent woodshop class could come up with something as nice.

Could the Buckhorn defense have something to do with PCC's poor shooting?

I think, without question, Wolfe should be favored by a fair amount. Wolfe's quickness is more than likely too much for Riverside to handle. Coach Creech has his kids playing hard, as always and they have played well in spurts all year, which is typical of a young team like Wolfe has. If Riverside can handle the pressure, their inside game could be a thorn in Wolfe's side. Their front line goes 6'6, 6'5 and 6'1, I think. Coach James Turner has done a heck of a job with the kids at Riverside. They play harder than any Riverside team that I have seen in recent memory and his big kids are fairly competent around the basket. If they can get the ball down the floor, they could give Wolfe problems.

The actual final was 65-49 and Gay had 11 blocks

I think Gay's stat line was: 13 pts., 7 rebounds and 12 blocked shots

Zach Gay: 15 pts., 8 rebs. 5 blocked shots per game

Justin Rice of Buckhorn. He goes all out all of the time. His legs, arms and hips are scarred all over from the floor burns he has amassed in his time playing basketball. I haven't seen anyone play harder on every single possesion. He is , also, going to be the first Wildcat to graduate with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

This game has been cancelled due to Hazard's performance in the All A. The game will be picked back up next season.

Justin Rice from Buckhorn plays harder than anyone that I have ever seen.

To correct myself, Josh Taylor is the big man for Cordia. His brother James graduated last year. I would have to imagine a totally different ball game between these two teams with him on the floor. IMO, Cordia is probably one of the best 5 - 13 teams in the state. They are a highly dangerous team and when they are playing as a whole, they can beat anyone in the 14th.

Did James Taylor play for Cordia? If not, there is your 16 point difference. I did not see him in the box score.

Blank had 31, including 25 in the second half and Zach Gay had a triple-double with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.

First district win in over 5 years for Buckhorn. Zach Gay led Buckhorn with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Andy Blank , also, had 12 points and Jake Rice pulled down 15 rebounds in the win.

Zach Gay of Buckhorn got a nice two handed dunk at the Walton Sun Blowout in Freeport, Fl against Laurel Hill, FL, who had previously won 37 of their last 40 games before Buckhorn beat them.

Buckhorn won the 1st annual Murray Bank tournament at Murray High School by defeating Daviess County 52-49. They , also, defeated Reidland and Carlisle County en route to winning this very competitive tournament. Hopefully, this will get them on track after a very slow 1-4 start.

I'll agree that Buckhorn did not play well against SV and is off to a slow start at 1-3, but SV was fortunate to win by what they did. If they could have beaten Buckhorn by 30, they would have. Just look at their previous game results. Buckhorn got down by 18 at the half and fought hard to try and get back into the game against a Shelby Valley team that is , arguably, the best team in the 15h right now. Had Buckhorn overcome a horrible FT shooting night, it would have been even closer.

Zach was in the box score against Jackson County and did play against Conner, but for some reason, his name wasn't in the box score. He did play and did score 11 or 12 against Conner

Blank had 20 for Buckhorn. Rice had 17 points and 10 boards, also. Creech led Jackson with 15. Gay from Buckhorn and Brumback from Jackson kind of cancelled each other out by scoring about 8-9 pts each. That was a good battle underneath.

Does anyone know the schedule for the games at Hazard tonight?

I thought that it does look alot like the gym at PCC , which does hold 4200 people. Meanwhile the other perry county high school plays in a gym that won't seat 500 and only has bleachers on one side and has the students eating lunch on the gym floor.

I've not seen the majority of the freshman in the state but I did get to see the kid from McCreary this summer and he is the real deal. I can't compare him to anyone else in the freshman class, but I can say that they better be pretty special to be better than Watts.

It may not be high on the list of must see tournaments on a national basis, but Buckhorn is going to the Walton Sun Blowout in Freeport, Fl. It is a first-class tourney which gives teams and fans a great discount at the Sandestin Hilton Golf Resort, which is located right on the beach in Destin. It is a 16 team tournament with teams from all over the southeast. Cookeville, TN took first place last year with a win over Mandeville, LA. Buckhorn took third by beating Maclay, FL.

I don't think anyone ever said that. In fact, and I am a Buckhorn person, Hazard turned in one of the best performances of the season in the week following the All A when they solidly beat Buckhorn. That may have been the game that really got the 'Dawgs" on track because Hicks was held to only 6 or 7 points, but the rest of the team showed some confidence and really kicked it up a notch. Although, I do stand by the fact that Buckhorn played Lee as well as anyone else would have on the night of the All A finals. Lee was really on a roll, at that point and anyone would have had to play at a different level to beat them during that All A run.

Lee County definitely made one of the better showings in recent 14th region All A history, but I wouldn't consider their win over Buckhorn a cakewalk. Lee didn't break that game open til late. It was a 4-5 point game until the middle of the 4th and Lee pulled away. Based on the way that Lee was playing, I would say that Buckhorn played them as well as Hazard or JBS would have. I think several teams, not just JBS and Hazard, could have played with Lee and I think there were more than 3 teams that were a little above the rest, but that is my opinion. This was after Buckhorn had earned a pretty solid 20 point victory over Wolfe who had beaten Hazard previously. I don't think the Lee victory over Buckhorn was any more dominant than the Buckhorn victory over Wolfe. Of course, all of this is coming from a Buckhorn person, so my opinion may be somewhat biased.

Ryan Romans will be one of, if not the, toughest match-ups in the region this year. With their good shooters around him, they will be a handful and should be considered one of the front runners.
