Henry County 49 Gallatin County 46
coachi replied to SuperB's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Players often go over the back, even if the coach tells them not to foul. Then you also have the worry if they will get back on defense, especially if its a taller, slower player. I think its often good strategy to have one, or sometimes no, players on the line at the end of the game. And yes, it may be arrogance, but I would anticpate the player hitting the FT, over taking the chance of something bad happening. Thats the beauty of it. Different people have different takes on how to approach the situation. -

Didnt Burgin win last year as well at Mercer with Cundiff coaching them? -
Augusta @ Deming predictions (12-2-08)
coachi replied to Big Slick's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I saw the 1995 game which had 28 3's in it. 15 by Deming and 13 for AHS. I think the final was 96-88 at Deming. No Snapps or Bowles. Just Kelsch, Larkins, Hargett, Nickoson, Ruf, and Harrison for Augusta. -
Anyone who likes quality coaching will miss Gene Kirk from the ranks. Congrats to Coach Hall, who will do fine, and always keep one eye out for ole Bill Hill, the solid, if not spectacular, AD who is a good one.
-
Not true. Augusta and Deming used to be regulars in the tournament and get paid quite well for their "troubles".

I look for Menifee to be much improved over last season.

12th Region: What's new?
coachi replied to SouthernSportsFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Just my opinion: I like Pulaski out of their district (47th?) the rest close behind. That district should be very equal from what I saw this summer. McCreary and Wayne are the best in the 48th district, with McCreary primed and ready. They tacked up some huge numbers this summer. In the 45th, Lincoln is solid again with their two stars, but Boyle may suprise everyone with a new coach and who knows what their team will look like with new faces. Danville very athletic as well and Garrard has solid nucleus back. In the 46th, Mercer has most talent in perhaps the region again if they learn to use it (this senior class was the regional freshman champs), both Jessamine's are always in the hunt, especially West, and look for little Burgin to make a lot of noise with 5 starters back in what I think is the toughest top to bottom district in the 12th after watching scrimmages this summer. -
There might be one possibly in downtown Brooksville, where the road to Mt. Olivet meets Hwy 10? Or is that a flahing light too? Maybe a stop sign? Seems like I got a ticket there once

Don't remember a traffic light in Bracken County either.

McCreary Central 2008/2009
coachi replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think a team is better with Rob Jones on the bench then they are without him. I dont remember McCreary being a powerhouse in the past. Rob has added stability to that job. Try getting an outsider as coach and see how they do. Watts might have already transferred if not for his respect for the coach. -
They still have the same coach? And they havent been out of the district in last two years despite having what some calls the best talent in the region during that time
-
Ha! 12-15 wins is a joke. THAT won't happen unless the schedule is so watered down that it sinks.

What happened to Coach Blackburn? didnt he have some health issues at the end of the year? -
They played Burgin and Pulaski down here the other night and did ok for first night out.
-
Williamsburg plays one of the weakest schedules in the state and still can't beat many of them. Isnt that why they fired the last coach, because he watered it down? That doesnt seem fair. Btw, W-burg's play by play radio man is an A-1 guy.
-
Just a rumor, thats all. Steve Payne is interested, and three others who are coaching or have coached in the region before.

Somerset owns the 12th. Danville and Burgin return a lot of players though. -
Hilltopper has obviously never worked with inferior talent or he'd know sometimes there is NOTHING you can do to stop the flood. Nothing!
