LexCath vs UHA (First rd of Sweet 16)
A little of both I would think. Smart kid (no pun intended) so Vandy makes sense. I'm guessing he was looking for a good school where he could walk on.

Transfered from the 16th region....
I have heard that one player mentioned is originally from CKY.

I know that they flipped the 9's. They have added some esthetics such as some rock walls, rock waterfall, etc. from what Bill told me. He spoke pretty highly of it, and from what I know of Bill he is a pretty straight shooter. He left coaching at Cumberland which he had done for years to do this, so something definitely appealed to him about it.

It has been semi-private for the last several years until Mike Nomi or however it is spelled bought it. He made a lot of changes and made it private.

I spoke with Bill Sergent a few months ago and he was telling me a lot of the stuff they had done and were going to do. I'm definitely going to find my way down there sometime soon hopefully. Are they going to be closed on Mondays?

Franklin County WILL be the Best team in the 11th region in 08-09
SC will probably be a stronger team next year, as everyone on the squad will know and understand their roles. This didnt always seem to be the case this year. Catholic graduates a lot, but they always reload. Mack and Combs are big losses for Station. I cant remember if anyone else is a senior on that team. MC, TC, and Dunbar are always going to be right there in terms of talent and you can never count them out. Franklin Co. very well could have one of the top teams in the region. They will probably be a top 5 or 6 team in a region that is losing some great players. Don't set them up for failure with this thread though. I really cant see them winning the 11th next year. You would think if someone says someone WILL win the 11th next year, then they would automatically be mentioned among the state title contenders as the 11th is one of the toughest regions in the state. I just dont see FC getting mentioned in that way.

LexCath 80 Scott County 54 - 11th region semis!
No doubt. Coach should have some say in keeping Sanford in some clothes that fit...

I have heard some great things about Crooked Creek as well. Unfortunately, all the changes are not going to be easy to see for a lot of people as they have gone completely private.

Athletic Scholarships
Grades definitely help. I had a 3.9 with a 25 on my ACT and that got a few bigger schools involved for me. I had a full tuition scholarship to EKU with an offer to be a "walk on" on the team. Even with some of the academic scholarships, it was not worth it for me to consider the NAIA schools that were recruiting me.

This is why I want to play Persimmon. Some people have told me it is their favorite course in the state, others have described it as "goofy golf", "ridiculous", etc. because of the greens. Makes me want to check it out for myself.

LexCath 80 Scott County 54 - 11th region semis!
Phares is easily the best player on the team, probably in the region next year. I would put Guyn ahead of Sanford from what I have seen. And I have to ask, how does Sanford play in that HUGE undershirt?

Mackey was like that and he was still a VERY good PG. I can see the staff harnessing Guyn's energy and mentality a little with the off season and summer coming up. Guyn will HAVE to play PG for SC next year from all I am gathering, especially if Hicks wants to continue with his one man press breaker. Aaron Ford can be a solid back up PG, but no way he can run the type of press offense that Hicks likes to run. Hicks doesnt mind if they are shoot first, as long as they can handle the pressure they are bound to get. Also, for Guyn to reach his goal of being a high D1 player, he does need to learn to play the point. I dont care what he is listed at, he is NOT 6'3 or whatever. He might be 6'1 and if he isnt going to grow any more he has to learn to run the point.

LexCath vs. Bryan Station - 11th Region Championship
Billy G did try to get in on him this year. I dont believe Tubby was after him at all. That beings said, Mack said something stupid when asked about UK recruiting him now. He said something along the lines of Butler had been there from Day 1 recruiting him and UK had just now come into the picture. If they had been there from the start, he would have considered them. Now this is dumb because it is a completely new staff, etc. Why hold what Tubby did against Billy G?

Need advice on new Driver purchase
Just about all of the "standard" drivers are going to be 2 degrees closed. To get one that is not closed at all is generally going to be a "Tour" or "Pro" model.

Wow, how did I forget Cardinal Club? Probably because I played absolutely terrible when I played there. It could probably replace Old Silo on my list. I am dying to play Olde Stone, Valhalla, and Persimmon. I would like to play Big Spring, but it is not something that I am dying to do like the others.
