  2. I just entered his thread for the first time and I didn't read all 11 pages, so I don't know what has and has not been discussed. But I'm sure that the word that the entire Seahawks team will be joining in on the protest? I can't say that I don't care, IMO people can do as they please as long as they are not nothing anyone else, they have the freedom to do so. But, the issues of what is being protested needs to be adressed, we need to talk about those issues no matter what we think if those issues. This is one reason why I say "I can't say I don't care", as that seems to be what some of this is about, that people didn't care to discuss and/ or solve the issues. In the grand scheme of things here is a lot more to worry about than if someone stands or sits during the anthem, including people dying needlessly and/or being killed, that is where my focus, as well as prayers, are on.
  3. As was mentioned, this goes on way more often than many think. It's time we start getting these people real help, not only the people who use, but to help their families, such as this kid. Around here about a year ago someone hit a utility pole, if I recall he ODed. Less than a week later he was killed along with 3 people in another vehicle when he crossed the yellow line and into oncoming traffic, just a few hundred yards away from his accident a few days before. I didn't have time to read it, but I saw a last week that people who produced a new deadlier form used the Cincinnati area as a test market? Also, what is being done to the big pharma's that have a big part of the start of this in the mid to late 90's?
  4. No sure what happened but there are two separate cases here, one in 2013 and the other in 2015. I can understand not suspending anyone until something is proven. I also understand the gag order due to the situation, it doesn't mean what's being said is true or not, but the accused need their day in court first before being dragged through the mud.
  5. Sounds like there is a bit more to this, the AD's statement was that more than one player was involved in a sex incident. Northern Kentucky University's athletic director recently admitted under oath that more than one of the school's basketball players were involved in some kind of sexual 'incident' last year that brought the scrutiny of NKU's top brass and involved the school's internal discipline system. But Kevin Murphy, the lawyer representing the woman suing the school, discounted those statements. "All people have to do is read sworn testimony of (former NKU police chief) Les Kachurek and Ken Bothof, the first two people who have been deposed in this case, to understand what has been going on on the campus at NKU," Murphy said. "Those are words from the witnesses' mouths, not mine." Indeed, former chief Kachurek testified in a deposition in July that he was never told that the male student in question was under any restrictions to stay away from the woman's dorm, or even who he was. Kachurek also said that he was told by friends of the male student that he indeed confessed to raping the woman in 2013, but that he never sent that information to school administrators even though he knew it could change the man's sanctions. 6. Agreed, as I said above, IF the police and union gave the 49'ers enough time to find proper replacements.
  7. As far as the police union and this threat, IMO it's just them wanting or feeling the need to puff out their chest. I'll use Cincinnati as an example. Such duties as at the casino, and many other assignments, the officers get paid not by the taxpayer, but in this example with the casino, those own in the facility pays the officers. The officers sign up for this coveted OT. In fact, about 5-6 months after the casino opened the officers who signed up wee still owed money, and the casino was screwing around with the officers pay. Officers were threatening not to sign up anymore if the problem wasn't fixed immediately. If the officers didn't sign up and something tragic happened I'd blame the casino, as it was due to them not paying the people that were supposed to be there is help with security. Payment is not the issue here in Colin's case. But are the officers and union going to risk something happening and the blame comes quickly at the officers and union for not protecting the public. For Bengals games each officer gets at least $36, $37 per hour! The assignments start at different times, but almost all of them start hours before the game and are on the clock until at least 45 mins after the game. This is a heck of a lot of money for anyone to pass up. But let's say that the police and their union went through with this threat without giving the 49er's a notice long before hand so that they may be able to find suitable replacements. If they didn't give the 49er's enough time to find suitable replacements, and let's say that there is some type of terrorists attack at the stadium, the police and their union will be hit immediately with the blame. If the officers and the union want to come out and say that starting next year the 49er's will have to find suitable replacements, I'd be okay with that plan, as it doesn't put people in immediate danger. I also think that if the 49er's go through with this immediately, that any potential terrorist may decide that they will attempt their attack there.
  8. I was just looking t see if anyone mentioned this, sadly almost everyone who was complaining about Colin are still only talking about him, and not Megan. And why is this? Hmmm. Instead of people complaining about Colin, maybe they should listen to his reasoning, try and get a conversation with him on his reasonings, attempt to see what can be done to change his thoughts. Playing the game that most are playing only solidifies the "why" part. People have every right to sit if they want to, I don't, but as long as someone around me is quite I don't care what they do. (On a side note, I don't stand when they play God Bless America, it's not the national anthem, great and beautiful song, but it's not the national anthem and I will personally in my view is cheapening the veneration that I give the national anthem.) If people are so upset at what they see as disrepecting not so much the anthem, but what about what they see as disrepecting the flag? Most people don't have a problem with the flag being on clothing, hats, sports uniforms, if one would look at the flag code, all that stuff is wrong too. What about the person who decided to place a small flag at the top of the I-75 south ramp on Kyles Lane about a year ago? Where they being patriotic? Well, the flag is all tattered and still there. Shouldn't they dispose of it properly? As will almost all things, as long as someone is quiet and not bothering others and myself, then most likely I don't pay attention to them. If they aren't standing and all for the national anthem I'm concerned about one thing and one thing only, and that is my attention to the flag as well as my concentration on singing the national anthem.
  9. Yes! Any police animal should be considered mostly the same as an officer. If you injure or kill a police animal, you should face charges for the death. I'm not saying that a death of a police animal caused by someone should have the assailant spend the rest of their lives behind bars, but there should be a good amount of time served.
  10. I have no issues with this, it's his right to do what he wants or what he believes concerning this issue. This country, the flag, and the National Anthem, gives him the right to sit during the anthem, or pretty much to do anything else. That's the right that we have in this country. Would I do it this way? No. But it doesn't bother me if he or anyone else utilizes their freedom to sit during the anthem.
  11. I only wacthed the opening ceremonies and maybe a few minutes here and there of the actual games. Which is odd as usually I am glued to the tv watching the Olympics, but I was disappointed that most of the soccer was shown only online. But, I did see in the opening ceremonies when they first mentioned it and rolled out that airplane prop. As I thought then, almost the rest of the world say that it was the Wright brothers, they mentioned that Brazil says that their guy had witnesses. It still isn't good enough for me. But I find it odd when you all says that they kept mentioning it, I'm sure Brazil has tons of other good and great things going for them. You would think with all of the political issues they have, all of the political bribery stuff going on, with all of the money that they took from public workers such as the police and many others, that Brazil would have used the time to capitalize on all things that are good and great in that country, it would have been 16 days of non-stop advertisement for Brazil. It sounds like they dropped the ball big time.
  12. Prayers to those within this study and research that they may rapidly find that this will work! I also strongly believe that if something like this study is thought of as being promising among the cancer researchers around the world that all type of money needs to be thrown into the research and studies. Even governments should throw tons of money into it, if it shows promise, as if let's say a few wealthy nations give a few hundred million or more to the researchers, hopefully that will keep greedy pharma's from exploiting the medication and ring up the price to an insane cost.
  13. Irvine, Calif., August 15, 2016 – Recent findings indicating the possible discovery of a previously unknown subatomic particle may be evidence of a fifth fundamental force of nature, according to a paper published in the journal Physical Review Letters by theoretical physicists at the University of California, Irvine. “If true, it’s revolutionary,” said Jonathan Feng, professor of physics & astronomy. “For decades, we’ve known of four fundamental forces: gravitation, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. If confirmed by further experiments, this discovery of a possible fifth force would completely change our understanding of the universe, with consequences for the unification of forces and dark matter.” UCI physicists confirm possible discovery of fifth force of nature
  14. At first I was going to give you a dislike for this comment, but I don't give dislikes so I'll just tell of my dislike of the make you feel old here! Lol. WOW! It's been that long ago.
  15. Every since Friday I have been waiting for today and the FCC match, only to find out only a couple of hours ago that the match is next Wednesday :( We haven't had a home match in about a month :(
  16. Idiots! How can you possibly run into a streetcar? But then again I say the same thing about most vehicle Vs train accidents. You have a vehicle, on tracks, that is over 3 busses long, you're at a red light, making an illegal right on red turn. How do you not see something that big rolling past you? Then again, as some of you have already mentioned, Ohio drivers! I too would have thought for that kind of money you would get a heck of a lot better bumper, but hey, look at most cars today. I actually think that it's going to be a success, and if so, I hope they fast track the second leg of it to Clifton and the"pill hill" area and the zoo. I also heard about a possible loop from 2nd and 3rd street to Covington and Newport, taking place of the SouthBank shuttle, not sure how I feel about that, does that shuttle get a good amount of riders?
  17. Since it's a private school I'm not 100% against it, especially being a high school. As has been mentioned I'd wonder about the not able to eat lunch part, maybe the school can bill the parents to cover the school lunch.
  18. Over a year ago I made a similar comment and someone sadly ridiculed me. It spoke more about them than it did me. If someone is on the interstate and all of a sudden a group of people are in front of you on said interstate, you have one objective, to get out of there safely! If you have a family, their lives may depend on it.
  19. After a quick search, yes, it was him. About 5 years ago I had some experiences with him, he is clueless and all about himself! During that time he didn't care one bit about the homeless in one particular situation. If you worked or dealt with some of the homeless you know that it can be a difficult and delicate thing, during that time 5 years ago he abandoned a large number of homeless, and people who had never been in that situation were the ones left to attempt to help, Spring was no where to be found, ohh, wait, yes he was, if there was a tv camera or reporter anywhere nearby you would see him, that was it.
  20. What that guys name Josh Spring? If so, I've "encountered" him in the past, a class A first rate idiot!
  21. I'll wait until everything comes out before my final opinion. BUT, a few of the officers violated policy by shooting. The officer who shot him admitted that he didn't know if the guy was armed or not, what he did hear were the other officers shooting. One officer points to an officers body can right after he said that he thought he shot the guy. Then you hear officers asking if he shot at them, which he did not. Just because someone steals a vehicle and runs from the LEO's doesn't give them the right to violate procedures and do whatever they want. Then we have the officer who did shoot the guy in the back, who's bodycam wasn't on during the shooting? But again, once more comes out hopefully it will tell us exactly what went down.
  22. DISGUSTING! Not only Trump's pathetic comments and doubling down, but also the comments on this site towards these parents and unfounded rumors. Trump can't shut his mouth and incapable of apologizing, that is the issue here. As far as the despicable comments towards the parents here, I will not be renewing my membership to this site after 13 years!
  23. So sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family.
  24. THIS! This a thousand times over, this is all that needs to be said and it looked at. As was mentioned, Trump just doesn't know when to shut up, sadly he doubles down on it, and what's also bad is that he refuses to appologize, for this and many other things. This family like so many others suffered a great deal, and they had family that gave the ultimate sacrifice, something that Trump can't seem to comprehend.
  25. Yes! Example, as I mentioned in another thread last week about how Obama will get blamed for anything and everything. Such as with gas prices, gas prices too high? It's a bad thing and it's Obama's fault! Has prices low? It's now a bad thing and it's Obama's fault. So yes, many people want to whine about anything and everything.
