Smoke Bombs in the stands at high school games

Featured Replies

After Male scored to go up 12 to 0 someone in the Male stands set off a very large/effective purple smoke bomb.

Is that allowed by rule? It was really cool but seems dangerous.

Some of the khsaa staff weren't sure. They were all over the radio about it.

Now it looks like they are throwing baby powder packets.

I would assume WKU would not care for them as they may stain the concrete.

Title of the thread made me think we were talking about some hot moms or older sisters. Carry on.

They are powder packets.

They do a great job. I need to get some for the 4th.

Is it the same stuff they use for those color runs? If so, that powder is said to be extremely flammable.

The material used for color runs is generally a form of cornstarch mixed wity natural color additives, and it is extremely flammable when dispersed into the air as a dust cloud, yes. Essentially any combustible particulate material suspended in the air is highly flammable...dust, flour, cornstarch, etc.

My older brother was a combat engineer in the US Army, and they were actually trained to utilize flour as a fuel for makeshift incendiary firebombs when such a device was needed. He showed us once how a 5 pound bag of all purpose flour could make a 15 ft diameter fireball if needed once...it was impressive to see, but VERY dangerous when used that way.

Everyone is familiar with the power and danger of grain dust explosions. These color clouds have two of three necessary ingredients. Dust and oxygen. All that is missing is a spark.

They are kids, let them have fun and enjoy the moment. I challenge you to find an instance where this powder has exploded or caused a fire at a football game, ridiculous. Lets make them conform to a standard that we believe is the best for them and stifle any creativity and passion that they may bring to the sport???
