Separation appears to be for regular season only, unclear if there will be 2 separate playoffs. Public/Private schools may still play each other if both agree. Is Kentucky Next?

Well what with all the titles the private schools chalked up this year in KY, it must be imminent.

We already did that once...shot down by legislature. Same could happen in NJ with their education commissioner. Not a done deal yet!

Not a chance it could happen in Kentucky. We only have 14 football-playing private schools across the entire state and 10 of those are 2A or below. If the split somehow happened anyway I guarantee you half of that fourteen would stop playing if they had to match up against Trinity and St.X every year.

So many advantages to having a small, private football team.... come up to NewCath, I'll show the conspiracy theorists around.

Out of 6 state champions this year, all 6 were public schools...

All the advantages? No boundaries? last time we checked 6 classes and 6 public school winners in this season state championship. No boundaries? Huh Belfry has WV players which is not illegal, other public schools have open enrollment and how about independence school? They also have open enrollment to some extent. Advantage?

None of the things you listed are exclusive to private schools. All 6 public champions fit this bill too.

EVERY advantage? Well in NKY, Holy Cross, Brossart and New Cath don't even have the advantage of their own football fields...and it's taken Cov Cath over 30 years to be able to get moving on lights for their stadium (which they didn't have for the first 15 years of their football program).

 

On the flipside, how many public schools in Kentucky don't have their own football field?

Public but independent school district, public but "traditional" or "magnet", private, what's the difference? The bigger factor is whether or not the school, administration, etc want to commit the resources to be successful.
